  • Speechless!!

  • R.I.P, my hero. You held me in your hands when I was miniscule, unaware of the legendary things they have played... I cry every time I watch this,i think: he held me, with what he survived and i cant beleive hes dead ;( i just dropped 3 tears... on witch i should have, 22 years ago... i have never cried as hard as this in my life like i am now..

  • *tears* 2:24

  • Really nice performance, a little bit better than mine :D

  • just amazing.

  • oooo i tojest zajebiste !!!

  • This is true music !

    Thanks Szpilman and Chopin.

  • why so fast?

  • @BisioDzwo There are slow versions on YouTube but i for me this is much better.

  • No one can really express the sadness and melancholy this pianist has experienced in his life.

  • Władysław Szpilman!

  • Brought big tears to my eyes. Gosh, the story of that man is so inpirational. And hosenfeld and what he did for him. Amazing. Absolutely amazing. God bless him

  • @April1442 not only him.He helped several jews in the war.

  • Thank you Władysław Szpilman for being part of this worl, what a great life ham? what a story man, what a hero...

    :)

  • Splendida condivisione che amo!

    Grazie :)

  • I have just watched 'The Pianist'. A sad story with 2 heroes in the end. Wladyslaw Szpilman and Wilm Hosenfeld.. Wladyslaw was playing something brilliant and Hosenfeld was listening... They've crossed the border, a non-existent border.. People are people-it doesn't matter if somebody is a Jew or a German. And music is something universal, something that can change the world.

  • @Interista94Jnny

if you want to know it... the piece that szpilman played was chopin ballade no.1

  • @Turic1000

I know it. Anyway, thank you. :)

  • @Interista94Jnny jew or german ? the most jews are german...you mean a jew or a nazi !!!

  • @sebastian101989

It doesn't matter, at all! People are people, before all!

  • Władysław was playing ballade g moll

  • True legend

  • This is so emotional and beautiful (even more for those who have read his book!) <3

  • 最好的版本

  • @HEBtheNERD It means "simply brilliant!".

  • @HEBtheNERD It means "simply brilliant!".

  • Polish music in all way.

  • chills keep running down my spine.

  • flawless. the beginning is just a little too fast for my taste.

  • MUY HERMOSA INTERPRETACION DEL MAESTRO SZPILMAN, DIOS LO TENGA EN SU REYNO.

  • Chopin csoda.Szpilman aki megélte a csodát...Ő a Zongorista!

  • And even when music and performer are at its purest there has to be one scumbag who thinks he knows better. I really hate those people who think they can criticize the best performers in the world on their playing. How can you ever enjoy music if you are constantly listening for mistakes or things you consider as wrong? Its about the whole picture. You can safely assume that performers on this level have a thought about every note they play and how to play it.

  • @philateliceun I have been listening to music for more years than I care to remember. I have tried to learn instruments, and I take a 'technical interest', in the hope that I might learn something. When I 'study' I see mistakes, but then I try to step back and enjoy the totallity of the performance.

Some of the music I have enjoyed most has been technically very flawed, but the real issue is 'did I enjoy it?'.

This playing of this piece is divine.

  • I never wanted the song to end :(

  • piękne, szczególnie ta interpretacja

  • wzruszyłem się.

  • @silverbluerain I agree!!! It's kinda good for the soul

  • This is the only version of cis-Moll Opus on YouTube that makes my eyes full of tears.

  • his last name is almost like mine, im half polish and german, he is polish i really love his work is the best

  • how can anyone dislike this

  • Killing me softly

  • This Shake my soul to the core...the pictures of his family on the piano.. the beauty of the piece...THIS IS WHAT MUSIC WAS PUT ON EARTH FOR...TO MOVE MOUNTAINS....

  • Everyone who plays this song has their own interpretation of it in terms of pauses, tempo, and volume. Since watching "The Pianist", I cannot listen to other versions and I have scoured the internet to find the same version as in the movie. It seems poetic that the perfect version (to me, at least) is played by the man that the movie is about.

  • BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL MY BREATH CATCHES AND IT GIVES ME CHILLS AT 2:245

  • BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL MY BREATH CATCHES

  • I've jsut finished his book "The Pianist" today, and I must say - HE IS A LUCKY HERO! <3 He suffered so much :( ! I'm glad he survived... <3 This is beautiful, btw <3 Greetings from Serbia!

  • Knowing that this is the last piece played on Polish Radio in 1939, and the first piece played in 1945, by this man, is thought provoking.

  • I'm in love with this ((:

  • 7 people are fucking idiots!!!. You can´t play with more felling than this!!!

  • @TheJCJexe YEah sure...he did say that in german its...Ich will eine glass aus Orangen saft....That means i want a glass of Juice...gas the jews is Ich will die Juden gassen....WHERE IS THE SIMILARITY??? I know its a joke and all but dont feel the brains of the people who dont know that with bull crap...

  • @mitko321 Lls, thats what I was thinking. Wouldnt it be said differently in german than in english?

  • @mitko321 I just want to correct you,if you don't mind. Ich will eine Glas aus Orangensaft means :"I want a glass made of orange juice" and the word "gassen" means "lanes" I think you meant "vergasen".I'm very sorry if i made you angry but usually I'dont have the chance to correct wrong german sentences.Feel free to correct my bad english :-)

  • @TheJCJexe

    l'art pour l'art!

  • niewyobrażalna subtelność,wrażliwość,delikatność..

  • Fuiste un hermoso sueño realizado.

cuántos poemas escribí junto a ti,

    cuántas cartas que nunca recibiste,..

Todo acabó al alejarte de mi…

    ( j. m. moreno- "Nocturnos" ).

  • Piękne.

  • Why you people have to talk about the holocaust and all that thing? Can you just enjoy the piece without talk about the jews, the germans, etc?

  • In a very deep way beautiful. Thanks Mr. Szpilman.

  • piekno skonczone

  • You could listen to every rap hit single ever made, one after the other and you still wouldn't reach the kind of fulfillment a piece like this performed by this person will give you.

  • @boluke26

Utterly pretentious. Appreciate this piece for what it is, rather than as a counter-point to other forms.

  • @russellkua

    You are pretentious.

  • @boluke26 lol rap isn't even music nor art compared to this.

  • ahhh... i love this nocturne.. it is so beautiful..

  • seriously i dont understand why have 7 people clicked the dislike button maby because its to beautiful for them to even contenplate what real art actualy is or they are just deaf... fucking beautiful and his face at the end says it all

  • @MusicisLife373

7 people clicked dislike beacuse as someone said before they are idots.

  • die 35tel schön eingepackt ;)

  • Władysław Szpilman is good at it, maybe coz of nationality of this music - polish, like he. I'm polish too and I'm so proud :)

Of course I'm only guessing, good example in interperting Chopins' works is pianist Yundi Li, and many other people who arent polish.

  • very nice playing keep a good shape form

  • ah c'est vraiment beau , mais , mais , le delicatissimo rall. ppp pointé en sol #

    ,,? de la fin .

  • das ist ein schönes lied :)

  • wow!

  • Perfect !

  • this is one of the most beautiful and amazing pieces of chopin.

and i'm sure the way Szpilman plays it would have done Chopin proud =)

  • very nice, . really music, the piano sounds very much better, than this of other recordings. his touch? and his piano? perfekt tension of right and left. the long pianissimoscale in the ending cannot play anyone as fast as written. thats chopin. thers is no easy piece.

  • I played this on my last piano recital this last thursday n_n

I did it alright !! And this is beautiful music ♥

  • its one of the nicest work, ive ever played on piano

  • Witam! Piszę z taką małą prośbą. Czy ma ktoś nuty do tego?! BŁAGAM WYŚLIJCIE MI! jakby co to linka albo nuty odrazy. email wojiwi@wp.pl lub vernen@wp.pl

  • Piękne.

  • Piękne.

  • Chopin is best. He has got wonderful compositions.

  • R.I.P............

  • 7 dislikes? wow.

  • Zgadzam się z Mr Turbanlaci (chyba)

  • wielki talent, piękny utwór, perełka.

  • Ezt így kell játszani!

  • composed with soul ... played with soul ... listening to it - touches the soul ...

  • @mmbmbmbmb Yes it was composed with soul, for sure. A true masterpiece. Fryderyk Chopin was a great Polish pianist. And the rendition of this piece of music by Szpilman is just absolutely amazing.

  • @McG4evah The Love for music connects people (in fact: peoples!) - doesn't it? And how wonderful is that? Hello to you and all music-lovers!

  • when was this recorded?

  • simply wonderful.

  • da füllen sich die augen ganz schnell mit wasser .. toll!

  • serce rosnie !!! szczegolnie tu - na emigracji !!!

  • more than just a dream

  • Oto genialny interpretator tego dzieła Fryderyka Chopina.

    Coż tam ja....

  • @justap19

    Nie tylko tego dzieła... Wszystkich!

  • mam ciary, jak tego słucham. genialne.

  • Est tema esta ligado inexorablemente a un conjunto de imagenes fimilcas, que potencian y completan su caracter.

  • a good master!

  • me hace llorar este nocturno, me trae recuerdos, y me recuerda que yo tambien puedo tocarlo!!!

    yeah!

Szpilman es uno de los mejores interpretes de Chopin que he visto, si no es el mejor

  • To mój ulubiony nokturn a Władysław Szpilman wykonuje go najlepiej. świetnie się tego słucha zwłaszcza na trzeszczącym winylu.

  • what edition is he using??mine is quite different..

  • Perfect! This is so expressive. So exciting. Wladyslaw Szpilman is the best interpreter of Chopin. Perhaps even better than Pollini.

  • Wspaniałe. Nie mogę przestać się zachwycać. Nie tylko samym utworem ale także wykonaniem!

  • Просто гениально!

  • @MrSarMax Translate please

  • This is really beautiful!

  • utwór był grany w filmie "Pianista"w reż. R. Polańskiego-oglądałam...sam utwór jest smutny-zgadzam się z tym.

  • Piękne i smutne...

  • I am learning this on the piano right now. I could only pray to play it as well a Wladyslaw Szpilman.

  • Szpilman...a true hero. You can hear in his work, in every moment, someone who became the music, who is music, alive in the heart that hears the work and lives to be love, to live peace.

  • Coś pięknego!

  • Przepiękny nokturn i przepiękne wykonanie.

  • excellent!!! perfect version of this nocturne

  • really love this!

First I heard "wnaenni"'s version and fell in love also with the Bechstein-tone, that suits very well to this piece.

But THIS version of Władysław Szpilman pleases me also very well....by the interpretation and by his instrument!sound

  • the most amazing is that Szopen wanted this work burned!

So lucky it is saved... if not my favourite one of my favourite nocturnes... and one of teh greatest i9nterpretions of it : )

  • 1:44 he doesn´t play as is written, does he?

  • To mój ulubiony nokturn Chopina... mogę go słuchać tysiące razy, szczególnie w takim wykonaniu...

  • This is so incredibly impressive.. (pff and usually I listen to death metal, but this music is really playing with your emotions..)

  • so beautiful. its so wonderful to finally hear his interpretation, only he can play so beautifully yet with so much sorrow.

  • THE pianist himself :)

  • "trillers"? No such thing. The TRILLS are perfectly executed.

  • genomos90...I think that with such a pianist you shouldn't judge trills and things like that...you can only enjoy his playing...I didn't think they are too fast, but if they really are you also have to think that it could be his interpretation

  • The very man who inspired me to play :D

  • he is so great.....

  • DIVINO, MAS QUE HERMOSO...

  • Genial!!! Divine!!!

  • the pain in his face...

  • this is the really Szpilman?

  • Yes! Amazing Władysław Szpilman!

thx God! Only Szpilman could play like that... Szpilman's version of nocturne is amazing.

  • TO jest piękne. Cała polska w tym jest.

THIS is wonderful. All Poland is in this music.

  • wonderful interpretation

  • best interpretation of nocturne

    excellent !!

  • Listening to this nocturne played by an musician who survived the ghetto in Poland is a quality I can't describe with my own words. I feel ashame for my country knowing that we killed 6 million jews just because of their religion and that means that we as a nation should shut up for the next 500 years if we regard violations of human rights worldwide.

  • "I feel ashamed for my country knowing that we killed 6 million jews"

It's just geography. Mourn the loss, but don't beat yourself up over it.

  • It is a good thing that there are people on every country that refuse to be followers of stupid leaders. For example, see Captain Wilm Hosenfeld biography.

The problem is you can be sure that there are and there will be lots of stupid leaders in the world.

    --------------------

    Considering the music:

    Very good rendition, Mr. Pianist!

  • I guess that anykind of leader/dictatorship is impossible if we refuse to live a life beeing controlled from others. If we are able just beeing authentic, this will not happen. But therefor we need a lot of trust into ourselves.

  • @ClassicalOJazz Agreed.

RIP Captain Hosenfeld, a kind and courageous man.

  • I feel sad

  • he is LEGENDARY pianist !! peace be with him we never forget your music and pasion for it man! normalnie brak slow

  • Uwielbiam to słuchać, śliczne...

  • I'll never come close to understanding what this song meant to him.

  • Po prostu brak słów... piękny utwór i jeszcze piękniejsze wykonanie... nie gustuję w muzyce Chopina, ale tego nie da się nie lubić^^

  • gra zajebiście

  • This video made tears come to my eyes. So beautiful. RIP Szpilman.

    Thank you for posting.

  • this is my favourite interpretation of this piece~

  • BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL......

  • Istnieje wywiad ze Szpilmanem z 1997r. Może ktoś ma??? Super facet!!!

  • please don't ever delieate this. Hearing this helps me understand, or at leat, comprehend, in the most very very very minicule bit how my grandmother may feel after going through the holocaust. thankyou so much for posting this. Beyond beautiful- because the word beautiful has come to connote aesthetics and flippancy. May we never forget that tradgedy is not merely history.

  • Beautiful, thank you for posting this video. My favorite renditions of this nocturne on youtube are played by Aldo Ciccolini and Nuccio Trotta. He's a Ciccolini's pupil and that's a pianist worth listen in to. Please see him on seven65's channel. Thanks.

  • Breathtaking!

  • amazing.. this man is a hero, for sure.

  • so beautiful

  • We are all going to..

  • this is the most amazing music from chopin...it makes me wanna cry..

  • unico..

  • It makes me want to cry...this man is such an inspiration. His book is so depressing.

  • What an absolutely incredible man. Such an inspirational person. He plays so beautifully, and has such a skill to play with such emotion. AMAZING!!!!XXX

  • Fantastic

  • Una obra sencilla y majistral, este man despues de todo lo que vivio lo logra transmitir en su musica, QEPD

  • es un maestro! el mejor!

  • Exquisitoooooo en verdad Un beso de Sol

  • IN My FAVOURITES

    ^_^

    MARVELLOUS

  • Thank you very much for sharing this beautiful video!

    God bless you,

    Best regards from Perú

  • To jest tak piękne...

Przeczytałam książkę "Pianista", widziałam film... Ten człowiek tak wiele przeżył... i jeszcze tak pięknie grał.. Należy mu się szacunek.

    It is so beautiful.

I've read the book "The Pianist" and I've watched the film. He had hard life and it is astounding he stayed alive, but he played so incredibly...

  • This is beautiful and very moving. I watched The Pianist for the first time a few days ago and I haven't been able to get this music out of my head since. Szpilman playing this the first time he went back to the Polish radio was so poignant.
