R.I.P, my hero. You held me in your hands when I was miniscule, unaware of the legendary things they have played... I cry every time I watch this,i think: he held me, with what he survived and i cant beleive hes dead ;( i just dropped 3 tears... on witch i should have, 22 years ago... i have never cried as hard as this in my life like i am now..
Brought big tears to my eyes. Gosh, the story of that man is so inpirational. And hosenfeld and what he did for him. Amazing. Absolutely amazing. God bless him
I have just watched 'The Pianist'. A sad story with 2 heroes in the end. Wladyslaw Szpilman and Wilm Hosenfeld.. Wladyslaw was playing something brilliant and Hosenfeld was listening... They've crossed the border, a non-existent border.. People are people-it doesn't matter if somebody is a Jew or a German. And music is something universal, something that can change the world.
And even when music and performer are at its purest there has to be one scumbag who thinks he knows better. I really hate those people who think they can criticize the best performers in the world on their playing. How can you ever enjoy music if you are constantly listening for mistakes or things you consider as wrong? Its about the whole picture. You can safely assume that performers on this level have a thought about every note they play and how to play it.
@philateliceun I have been listening to music for more years than I care to remember. I have tried to learn instruments, and I take a 'technical interest', in the hope that I might learn something. When I 'study' I see mistakes, but then I try to step back and enjoy the totallity of the performance.
Some of the music I have enjoyed most has been technically very flawed, but the real issue is 'did I enjoy it?'.
This Shake my soul to the core...the pictures of his family on the piano.. the beauty of the piece...THIS IS WHAT MUSIC WAS PUT ON EARTH FOR...TO MOVE MOUNTAINS....
Everyone who plays this song has their own interpretation of it in terms of pauses, tempo, and volume. Since watching "The Pianist", I cannot listen to other versions and I have scoured the internet to find the same version as in the movie. It seems poetic that the perfect version (to me, at least) is played by the man that the movie is about.
I've jsut finished his book "The Pianist" today, and I must say - HE IS A LUCKY HERO! <3 He suffered so much :( ! I'm glad he survived... <3 This is beautiful, btw <3 Greetings from Serbia!

@mmbmbmbmb Yes it was composed with soul, for sure. A true masterpiece. Fryderyk Chopin was a great Polish pianist. And the rendition of this piece of music by Szpilman is just absolutely amazing.
Szpilman...a true hero. You can hear in his work, in every moment, someone who became the music, who is music, alive in the heart that hears the work and lives to be love, to live peace.
genomos90...I think that with such a pianist you shouldn't judge trills and things like that...you can only enjoy his playing...I didn't think they are too fast, but if they really are you also have to think that it could be his interpretation
