  • Two-out-of-three falls, with a 60-minute time limit.

  • I was just under a year when the match happened. I have grown up to surely appreciate wrestlers like the LEGENDARY Billy Robinson. That man can surely wrestle.

  • this is so gay! BJJ boys would fuck these two up ,look like there tryin to fuck each other!

  • @MrNupit Like the gracies beat Sakarba yeh ?

  • @EBTerriers lol its true huh..mrnupit is a fuckin idiot ahahahaha!

  • @MrNupit Its only gay if you're gay. BJJ faggots couldn't harm Robinson if they were armed with a pistol.

  • @MrNupit but bbj is not gay lol,the guard is the position of getting fu**ed,this is a scripted match not real catch wrestling, dont judge catch wrestling by a scripted match

  • I Saw Billy Robinson wrestle in England when he was 21 years old (i was 15) he moved round like a middleweight though he weighed 15 stones , he was plainly way ahead of the rest of bill even then.the most respected brit wrestler in post war years.

  • oh.. it's choi hongman's dad !!

  • RIP Baba...

  • I just met Billy Robinson tonight and he is nothing but a class act!

  • superstar billy graham would agree

  • maybe you are the jerk... dickhead!

  • Billy Robinson is a legend... I'm only just discovering his talent through his training DVD's with Josh Barnett and Eric Paulson. It goes to show how much of the current stuff is just rehashed old techniques.

Does anyone know if the old style catch actually included strikes#? As he talks about it in his DVD's as if it were legals to punch and elbow.

  • did he say coconut crunch? lol

  • Yea. That's what Baba called his knee strike.

  • i guess catch wrestling is like abu dhabi(submission wrestling no striking) so its like rolling brazilian jui jitsu

  • they said that billy was disliked in awa and nwa since he was strong.

  • Billy was disliked because he frequently went into business for himself and shot on people for the hell of it, regardless of the story being told in the ring. Billy Graham, no shooter, felt it necessary to threaten him with deep blading, Peter Maivia tried to pull out his eye, and I believe Art Thomas knocked him out outside the arena and pissed on him. This is all in Ric Flair book and/or Bobby Heenan's first book, I don't remember which.

  • wow...never knew a business would hate a guy so much for doing a shoot on whoever, lol. Makes me wonder what Karl Gotch went through in America or Akira Maeda in Japan.

  • Pretty drastic stuff, but apparently he did it a LOT. IDK why, he was a decent draw most places and probably made good money. Guess he just had a big sadistic streak. Here's another one, from Flair's book: Iron Sheik was in Flair's training class, taught by Verne Gagne and Billy. So one day, Sheik says that Robinson can't beat him in an amateur contest, so they hook it up and Robinson hooked Sheik in some hold [forget which, but it wasn't a legal amateur hold] and damn near dislocated his hip.

  • Robinson did the Montreal territory around 1983 ... he feuded with Dino Bravo and The Destroyer there.

  • Love Billy Robinson. It's great to see a true ring technician at work. Did Robinson ever wrestle for the NWA?

  • Memphis in 1980-81, Mid-Atlantic briefly in '82 (I think). Robinson in Memphis has to be one of the all-time bizarre wrestler-territory pairings.

  • Plenty of people knew Billy - the AWA was a huge promotion.

  • Great stuff! A giant who could move and wrestle (somewhat). Robinson is almost unknown to N. American audiences but what a talent. Thanks for the post.

  • gaint baba and billy huh
