  • I'm a male nursing student, my policy with any job is to not get romantically involved with co-workers in your department, always makes the work environment more awkward for everyone.

  • You are very sweet and have a nice disposition. I am a male nursing student in canada. you were right on abt the male nurse in ,aternity-clinicals. I basically skirted that part.

  • The world needs more male Ped's Nurses!! Can't wait to fill that void, NCLEX next week!! yikes.

  • @adel10453 Yeah!! Best of luck to you on your exam!!

  • its pretty cool being a male nursing student. when we are on the floor we usually get to bang all the girls when its not to busy. a lil head in da med room is always great.

  • Nice post, as a male nurse myself, thanks for the positivity.

I found starting out hard but once your knowledge and experience are up it is a lot about good teamwork.

Shame there are a lot of negative comments.

  • @englishmanbo Hi!! Yes, teamwork is very important.

  • Is their a restriction code where guy nurses cant date the girls? lol

  • holy annoying

  • a soon as i pass the fucking nclex i will be there stealing your jobs girls jajaja

  • woman. you pose for the camera like a bitch lmfao.

    get the fuck over yourself

  • I get estrogen poisening working with so many dramatic females. Goddamn sick of it....def the worst part of nursing.

  • @dhide14 plus, they all are about 100lbs overweight....where are all the cute/petite nurses?>?>

  • as a straight male Nursing student, i sincerely hope all males disregard that last comment about Nursing being a great way to meet females. In my first year of Nursing there were heaps of guys who came with these intentions, and guess what? they failed their papers cause they're not actually interested in the subject... bad idea. yes i met my girlfriend in Nursing school, and she is pretty cute, but this was not my intention for going to Nursing school.

  • I think this is a great video. I mostly thought about how american politics could definitely use a female's touch. Just as the nursing field lacks a man's touch, so too does politics and females. Females in politics would be a balancing factor and would play upon the strengths of each sex. We need to be balanced no matter what field we choose. I'm studying to be a male nurse and I can tell you I will be calling out any "cattyness" i see between female employees. jealousy has no place anywhere.

  • i havent started clinicals yet, but delivery room is def what im dreading!

  • Boys learn to nurse, because of training a doctor is not enough money.

  • Bhaha " all the estrogen floating around in the air". This girl is Hilarious & gorgeous!..

  • Have you ever worked with a trans nurse? If I get a code gray I don't think I could lift more than you or tackle someone like you could. So please advise me on your opinion.

  • hey, i really appreciate this video! haha im a male RN and totally see where you're coming from. But never will I ever go into OB lol.

  • im a male nurse

  • simply leave the L&D drama to the female nurses---they're good at it.

  • This kinda discourages me in becoming a male nurse....

  • @sublikeaboss We need more male nurses. They are a great asset to the nursing world.

  • @hdryver yeah, to do all the lifting....no thanks

  • @sublikeaboss There are too many females.=)

  • @sublikeaboss The world needs more male nurses. I have been a patient more times than I would care to count, and I have very positive experience with male nurses. NOT because of their physical strength or any such thing, but rather because of their (in my opinion) frequent ability to use humor in a good way in their work, and a different (and BETTER) way of showing care in their work. Also, I often find them to be a bit more calm in the way they carry out their work. GO FOR IT!!

  • @MsLunaWolf hey, can you elaborate on "different (and BETTER) way of showing care"? i'd love to hear your perspective. feel free to pm me if your reply is too involved for the character limit.

    thanks.

    -male pre-nursing student

  • "manhaters" lol there one on every ward..

  • BSCN RN Male student final year. I got to say honestly it great being a male nurse and it surprising how much of an assistance you can be to the patient care. It not always necessarily other health care professional, but the public we serve. We cannot change how they think, but show to them our capabilities, and out passion.

  • i'm starting my nursing classes this fall, i hope everything runs smoothly

  • I'm a male nursing student and I love what I do and never have any issue, BUT there is always the patients, both male and female, that sometimes request not to have me in the room because they don't like a man there. Awkwardest issue was an elderly lady in her 80's yelled at me to get out of her sight after I introduced myself as a nurse because "It isn't write for a man to be a nurse" Just grew up in different times I guess

  • ur a dumb bitch u sound like a fukin 3 year old. whore

  • what are girls parts?

  • @TheGxf shut your catty ass up.

  • I love being a "Murse." I just graduated with my BSN and never once felt discriminated. I always felt like I was needed more on the floor...when there was a heavy patient or male patients, I was always called. Out of our whole nursing class the first 5 who were hired were all the 5 males in the class.

  • I am in nursing school now, and so far we males seem to be the center of attention a lot of times, and not so much as workhorses as I thought it would be. This is strange and amusing to me as I am coming from a male dominated field into a female dominated one. By the way, I like your videos. Subscribed :-)

  • Hey hdryver: In case you did not know there are male nurses in areas like Labor and Delivery, Nicu and Obstetrics......... So dont make it sound like "is weird or whatever"

  • I'm a male RN student with 3 semesters to go. I've noticed very little discrimination at school or hospital. Maybe a slight tinge with older nurses. Our class of 35 has around 15 guys and oddly, our clinical group of 12 students has 10 guys and 2 girls. Ha, I wish there were more girls!

  • You do realize that the same women patients that are "weirded out" by male nurses more often than not have male doctors.

  • @michaelhalari So true. I don't understand that.

  • Ya, when I graduate nursing school I'm not gonna do Labor and Delivery. I'll specifically avoid that one.

  • @Gatzlocke you talk about breaking bounderies but yet you guys stay stagnet in one area of nursing ER if thats what all male nursing is about talk about boring your not breaking bounderies at all your just making it worse iam floor nurse in a nursing home i love what i do i care for people if your just looking for an andrenaline rush then go jump of a bridge beacuse nursing is not about stupid sterieo types men have hearts and can feel too and this women up in the screen lack in time.

  • That's why I want to be an ER nurse so I want look so "feminish".

  • I'm a male nurse and I TOTALLY feel discriminated against! Some (not all) female nurses give me the vibe of "You are invading our territory, can't you work construction or something!"

Plus, some give the vibe that "You are a man, you should have been a doctor, not a nurse! You must be too stupid to be a doc, that's why you are a nurse. You are a bad nurse too!"

Sadly these 2 "vibes" are mainly given by the older nurses. Younger ones like yourself are much nicer.

  • you are so damn awsome. a lot of old women do not want me to help them to the bathroom or bed pan. do you think, honestly, that i want to look at a 97yr old vagina. yuck. i am slightly stereotypical gay man that happends to be a nurse. i am a gay bear man, (fat and hairy gay man). anywho thank you for yur vid

  • Heather needs to cool it with the makeup. She looks like a $50 hooker. Didn't Dr. Michael Swango work as a nurse when he wasn't busy being an angel of death?

  • I've been a medical patient a few times and I think something about the female presence helps the healing process. I'm more comforted when they're around. Like when I was getting an injection in my shoulder for an MRI, the female nurse held my arm to comfort me while I was getting the shot, and it really did comfort me.

If it was a guy nurse, I wouldn't want him holding my arm, first of all, and he wouldn't be comforting. I'd just pretend the shot didn't hurt. I'd tell him, like "yeah I'm cool".

  • DR. STRONG ... I love it! I love all the male nurses i've worked with so far.

  • im a male nurse and we MF ROCK!

  • @ExNihiloJimmy Love it!!!

  • i attended many female patients in my clinicals i did not feel weird what is this stalker guy thing and not all males are strong to hold some one back i dont like this gender roling its like males are not to supposed to care we all contribute to nursing male or female i met som nurses who are female and hate ob i like ob you guys have that gender role mentality

  • Video response to follow :-)

  • Thank God, I just finished OB clinicals. I guess I epitomize that "strange stalker male" profile from what I hear. It might've been a bit awkward if I'd have let it, but better to make jokes I think. Oh well, on to Peds next week.

  • Great video!! I agree with everything except the discrimination point. Been there done that with the male haters. All in all I have to say nursing is dynamic and both sex's feed off one another to find solutions to the problems at hand.... and yes, I enjoy talking to the ladies without worrying about the "klicks" and whatever. Honestly, it's been a FAR better experience for me than working with a bunch of guys! Thanks to all the female nurses out there for being so welcoming!

  • Nice video! I am 43, just retired from the air force and going back to school to be a PA. I am in my first semester doing my science courses (I already have a degree) and our school has a BSN program. I can get out there that much quicker as a nurse but have to admit that the term does seem a little gender specific... Hopefully I can start next semester =)

  • @airtexaco Cool!! I hope you do start nursing school soon.

  • @airtexaco I'm a male nursing student. Half way through school at Cal State Long Beach's program. Its awesome. Male nurses are awesome. The other option to doing PA would be first getting your BSN, then getting your masters in nursing as an NP or clinical nurse specialist. By doing this rout, you would have been in school for the same amount of time as a PA but way more prepared to treat patients because you've been studying this stuff for 4 years rather than only 2 in the PA program.

  • @jomortimer Thanks! I am looking at Duke's accelerated BSN program-16 months =)

  • Thanks for the post of confidence. Being a guy nurse I personally don't think we are any more valuable than female nurses but we do have a log of stereotypes to fight. For example my girl left me just before entering nursing school. Come to find out from one of her friends she could never see her self with a guy in a female profession. Stunned I almost dropped out of my program but stuck with it regardless. I am thankful for female nurses who accept us for who we are

  • @rulachhman1 Yes!! I appreciate male nurses and them not caring what the sterotype is. I work with more male nurses now on my unit than ever and I love it. It's nice to have a mix in gender. Sorry to hear about your ex girlfriend, but hopefully now you are surrounded by females who appreciate male nurses. =)

  • My instructors in OB clinicals were very equal in their treatment of me, too much in my opinion. One of my patients was new to breast feeding and my instructor told me I should teach her the proper technique....besides the fact that I had only read the proper technique in a book and had trouble remembering it, it was super awkward for me...but honestly the patient didn't seem to mind. ...but I got one of the girls to teach her instead. I would have rather not done OB clinicals.

  • @cmpdas That would be kinda awkward. I didn't even like that breast feeding part of clinical. =)

  • @cmpdas really its just a breast your not going to die i am male nurse i love ob clinicals that was my fav course i like the whole nursing experiance we should not bound our selfs to only ER and medical serigical professions geish talk about gender steryotyping still.

  • i, too, am a straight male nurse, and yes, during clinicals.. if i had depended on the instructors or the doctors, i would have not had many experiences that truly helped me, ergo, I would always try and ask the patient, myself, if i could observe or be their nurse... I was not turned down, even once. Nursing is about helping people, a mechanic helps people, a plumber helps people, there should be males and females in all professions. Though the 15 to 1 ration in nursing school is kinda great.

  • @zinalar59 Good idea to ask the patient yourself and let them see your personality. I'm sure that helped them to be more accepting.

  • I'm considering becoming a nurse. I was thinking about becoming a Paramedic, but my mother has been trying to talk me into nursing. I like that you can specialize, and that there's more opportunities in it. Also, generally there's more money, and more normal working hours sounds appealing as well. I'm sure I'll get a lot of crap if I decide to, but whatever. I'm still figuring my self out, but medical in general is interesting.

  • I'm a future male registered nurse. I'm straight, what's the problem? Anyone can help. I'm tired of coming home to say I did something meaningless with my life. Like filling up someone's bank account or my own. I saved someone's life. That is what matters. I refer to myself jokingly as a medic.

  • Aren't most angels of death male nurses? I don't trust those faggots as far as I can throw them.

  • @Jefgg you sound like a moron

  • @Maccaism You sound like a male nurse.

  • @Jefgg im not actually. however i know alot of them. enjoy your next stay in hospital, it might change your mind

  • Answer: I was interviewed by a lady RN recruiter once upon a time. She told me she disliked interviewing male RNs because men made horrible nurses, they didn't "care" and could not treat a patient as well as female nurses. While in OB clinicals, my professor asked the patients, "We have a "male" student nurse. Do you "really" want him in here?" Of course, they said no. I was sat in the corner during my OB rotations. While the female students practiced book concepts in clinicals, I could not.

  • @pseudobliss That's unfortunate and completely not true. And thumbs down for your nursing instructor not wanting you to have that learning experience. I'm sure you are a great asset to the nursing world. =)

  • @hdryver They are out there....nursing pays very well...and for one of the largest employment professions in the country to be only 4-5% male...means something isn't quite right.

  • @pseudobliss Sorry to hear about your experience. Discrimination of ANY KIND IS NOT OK and your instructor should have been disciplined for NOT promoting a learning enviroment and not providing the opportunities for hands on experience. I am a MALE RN and work post-partum and always am matter of fact and respecful with my patients and families and have not had a problem. Good luck to you in the future.

  • I was 1 of 4 men in my nursing class in "68. Our 3 month OB rotation was as complete as the female nursing students. Our instructor would not let us get left out just because we were men. Kudos to her! While in the Army Nurse Corps in Bangkok, I was assigned to L&D, because that's where the need was. I remained in L&D for the next 7 yrs. For the past 30 yrs I have been in Critical Care and OR. Currently I am a staff nurse in CCU. I have NEVER had 1 gender based complaint from pt, Dr, RN

  • @fxnhrts That's awesome!! I'm glad everything has been going well for you.

  • YOU.......... ARE.....HOT!!!!!!!

  • I really enjoyed your video. I start LPN school in 2 days, and I was bored at home babysitting and thought I would poke around on youtube and found yours. You're very very pretty, and I enjoyed your video. Thanks for being so positive toward male nurses. :)

  • @salebowwow Thank you. Hope you are enjoying nursing school so far. =)

  • @chrissline77 Well, at least you are honest about it.

  • shes sweet <3

  • That is one of the reasons why im going to major in nursing.... the GIRLS

  • Fuck you. Yes, people like you are abusive. You act like men's failure to have estrogen and their "male power" make them less competitive. You're exactly the kind of person I would despise studying with. "Strange stalker-like man" is how you described a delivery room nurse. Lovely. What about, um, gender being less important than compassion, ethics, science knowledge. No, the best you can say is Men are strong, and women gossip. You have the most stereotypical gender views since 1950.

  • I really love your videos. lol I always thought about the whole male nurse thing. That's what turned me off from doing nursing school at first. When I got the job at my current hospital, I saw how many male nurses there were. My hospital has quite a few. At least at night, which is what I used to work. And they were all so great to talk to. So that's when I decided I really did want to be a nurse. I can't wait!

  • @hdryver, I really enjoy your point of view regarding nursing school! I am a male student nurse and am a couple of weeks away from finishing my first year. You are 100% correct about the OB/L&D rotation! I have kinda been left out when it comes to getting to see procedures and performing some assessments. I know the patient's perogative comes first, it is still hard to take. Love your point of view of male nurses!!!

  • @MrsLinksbaby Hi!! Thank you. Congratulations on finishing your first year and best of luck in the next year. We need more male nurses.

  • lol ur soo funnny!

  • @SIRYESSIRUSMC Hi!! =)

  • Is this woman really a nurse or is she an actress? She looks much too attractive to be a nurse. The nurses where I live are either fat, lazy cows with surly attitudes or dimwitted Filipina sluts.

  • @Jefgg I almost didn't reply to this comment because it is obviously ridiculous....but...Have you watched her other videos? Come on now...Nurses aren't judged by their weight. their appearance or their nationality. She obviously is a nurse... given the amount of knowledge and detail she talks about on her videos.

  • @Jefgg i agree with the part about her being attractive :)

  • Love your videos! I have just recently been accepted to a BSN program after 8 years in the Marines. I was an EMT before my years as a Marine. I'm just about done with getting a Phlebotomy certification, and starting CNA (as a prerequisite for the BSN program) next month. (hopefully phlebotomy will be my PT job during school). My teachers are all really really enthusiastic about getting more males into the field of study.

  • @jlwusmc0341 I'm glad you're meeting with enthusiasm. I got outright hostility from the admissions people at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, UW-Oshkosh, and Milwaukee School of Engineeering. The last was my personal favorite. Vicki, the admissions counsellor, made comments like "Wow, you've actually erad up on this!" and when I asked about my admissability, she actually said, "If your grades were really that good, you'd get a scholarship." And she hadn't even seen my transcript.

  • this is such an awesome video =) im already pre-accepted to a few colleges and universities i applied for and im looking forward to join the male forces in the nursing community. and meet the ladies too haha jk. but thanks for such an inspirational video

  • @tenguonniiii Cool!! Male nurses are needed and appreciated by the ladies. =)

  • Thanks for the inspiring! I am 24 year old male trying to become a nurse in the future. I look way younger than 24 because I eat healthy, exercise, etc.. by the time I earn my BSN Nursing degree I will be around 28-29 because I need to take some science courses... I know the time will fly because I can't wait to earn my BSN nursing degree and I will be super busy. I do hope to meet the right girl or something.. ha ha..

  • @thugricanz Hi. It will go by fast. It always does. =) A healthy diet and exercise is very important. Keep up the good work You will be a nurse in no time. Take care.

  • @hdryver Thanks! I wanted to help people with diet, but I chose this. I might study nutrition too. I know I need to stick with the scope of practice, so I can't give opinions unfortunately. As a RN, you can't give opinions too? Also, do you work with a lot of young patients? I know not with children unless I go for Family NP. I thought of becoming a nurse practitioner, but I want to help a lot of patients, so I might stick to RN. I want to keep studying thought., to earn more skillls.

  • @thugricanz Hi!! I don't work with many young patients. Most are geriatric heart patients. Nurse Practitioner would be cool, but usually they work in one field. So, whatever you think is right for you, go for it. =)

  • @hdryver one field is not good! I like to walk a lot , etc. =] Perhaps when I am old.. like around 40-50... :)

  • @thugricanz That's exactly what I think.

  • @hdryver Aw, OK. Thanks. I do want keep studying for something higher.. not because of money.. I want to learn more skills. :)

  • The best nurse I have ever had in my nursing school clinical rotation was a male nurse. He was so amazing. He just had this way about him that was so comforting to the patients. Not to forget how amazing he was to me =) he helped me LEARN and created things for me to do and allowed me the chance to practice my skills.

My mom has been a nurse for 35 years and always said she loved what male nurses brought to the table in this profession. I agree!

  • @knightmanda Ya, they do. It's nice to have a mix and they seem to be easy going and carefree.

  • @knightmanda I wish I was like him!!! I am shy and quiet.. so I don't know if I will be comforting to the patients, etc.. I hope! What kind of nurse was he?? CNA or RN? ^^

  • @thugricanz He is an RN at a county hospital. I believe he has been a nurse for only 2 years. I would say he is a little shy himself which is just fine. Once you start feeling more comfortable in your role you may start to feel that you are able to be more comforting. You can be just like him =) just even saying that you want to be like him shows that you care about being a good nurse and that is a great first step. Best of luck to you

  • @knightmanda Hi Manda,

Thanks for your respond. Yes, indeed, I care about people and I really want to become a nurse and help people to be safe and I will try my best to make them happy and comfortable. I am a guy who loves to smile.. I am always smiling. I am a nice person who does not get angry, swear, etc. I plan to become a RN , but that will take a while..but I am patient. That's why I want to become a CNA and start helping patients and work under RN, etc.. I can learn from them. ^^

  • @thugricanz I think becoming a CNA first is a great idea. You will learn a lot and get that good bed side manner that some nurses just do not have. Stay focused, continue being patient and if you get frustrated with all the schooling just remember why you are doing this.

  • @knightmanda Thanks, that will help! But I hope to find a weekend job as a CNA once I earn my experience in nursing home. IT sucks that I have to earn experience in order to work in hospital. I Am willing to try my hardest once I get accepted to BSN in nursing program. I will be accepted ASAP because I wrote to someone about the program and she said I need a GPA of 3.2 overall and 2.8 in science. I have a long way to go.. I haven't started A&P , chemistry, microbiology, etc.

  • @thugricanz O and one more thing I think CNA's are awesome and way under appreciated. They are part of the team and we need them.

  • @knightmanda Aw thanks. Good to hear that. I will be working as a CNA for a while.. I don't know if I will be able to work as a CNA when I enter to the BSN in nursing program. I am trying to look for a weekend job as a CNA in the hospital. First, I need to gain experience by working in nursing home for a year. I am going to add you as a friend just in case if I have any question or help with my school. ^_^

  • @thugricanz YEs let me know if you have any questions =)

  • @knightmanda Thanks!! I added you. I will ask questions. :)

  • I still have another semester before labor and delivery- and I'm excited to get there. Though- I have heard of other male students being asked to leave the room. I will try not to take that personally, as I know I shouldnt... but I think to some degree I'd be offended. I have 3 children and have been front row for all 3 of their births- I have more experience than almost all the females in my class. But we'll see how it goes!

  • @sclyons34 - You are probably right about that. Like you said, don't take it personal. Best of luck to you=)

  • I love male nurses, especially when I was pulled to work on the psy floor! Plus they are so easy to talk to (for the most part)

  • I'm 1 of only 2 guys in my entire class. L&D clinical was a complete waste of time. I was kicked out of several rooms because I was male....not fun. I spent almost all my time at the nurses station doing nothing. Even the nurses didn't seem to like having me around. I do get tired of getting called in for all the heavy lifting during clinicals.....hearing nurses say "oh, we have a big strong man here to help us" ugh....I shiver at hearing that

  • @dhide14 - Sad, but true. The man power can be abused sometimes. I think that it's just an awkward area for males and maybe uncomfortable to talk about with them. I guess you can be thankful the class is only about 8 weeks. =)

  • @dhide14 well Im a male nurse from the Philippines worked in the Operating room, Emergency room and delivery room. I never had problems when it comes to doing things that can be awkward for a pregnant mom... I think its how you present yourself. its all about rapport. I' was even doing IE before. they seem to be comfortable. now I'm currently working in the U.s and in the operating room.

  • I think you're a cute nurse heather. I wanna get sick. ^_^ . said by a male nurse. hehehehe

  • @watcherlance Thank you.=)

  • have pinning ceremony tomorrow. I am proud to be a male nurse, especially during Psy rotation

  • @lemontree3003 HI!! Congratulations!! You should be proud,=)

  • Lol, I am an ICU male nurse and your comment about student males nurses in L&D made me laugh. I was one of eight males in my nursing program. Every male in my nursing program including me really dreaded L&D clinicals because It just made us feel weird about the whole situation. I learned very quickly that I did not want to be a L&D nurse. However, I have the upmost respect for women because it also taught me that child birth is no joke. Anyways, thanks for the video.

  • @jbrueshaber Hi!! I can only imagine how uncomfortable it might be to witness all that girly stuff. Even child birth freaks me out.=) Happy Holidays!!

  • Hello gorgeous! Just stopping by to say hello=)

  • @2thcr8z Hi Rosalinda!!!=)

  • @DivaNurse76 -Thank you=)

  • Heather......I'm not a male nurse, I treat women too :)

By the way, where were you during my nursing education, we could had spend all that time togheter studing, and later at night drink a beer or wine, and bang away all that stress!!! sweet girl ; )

  • @chopo141-Hi!! =)

  • I'm a male student nurse and I've had nothing but great experiences, even in L&D! Great info and video :)

  • @smlblockchev Cool!! Glad you are having a good time.

  • I dont know what the big deal is about female patients not wanting the male nurse to take care of them. After all they have MALE doctors, and if the male doctor needed to look at private areas ( to diagnose) then the patients usely dont have a problem. So I am confused by this sometimes.

  • @19PurposebyDesgn81 - Ya, it doesn't happen that often, but maybe they just feel violated or something.

  • I want sleeveless scrubs and want to be the male nurse version of "The Todd" from "Scrubs." *High Five*

  • @SGTpanduh - Ha ha. You could create that.=)

  • Strange stalker like male. Haha.

But I think that you pretty much hit the nail on the head when you said the stuff about women not wanting guys to see their private parts.

I also feel like those really manly men might be like "I dont want no queer touchin' my junk" lol

  • @Medicalphiliac Ha ha. That's true. Like if the manly man needed a foley, he would rather have a female do it.=)

  • Male nurse right here lol

  • @SGVliverSHOT626 - Hi!!!

  • Love it!

  • @Renee4christ -Thanks Renee.=)
