Huh? cocacolawa.....where was hunting mentioned in any of this? This is a video showing shellfish industry ruining beaches, not hunting practices. Please explain. I'm intrigued why you decided to get hunting involved in this discussion.

shermyable....you left out burrowing shrimp, raccoons, starfish, sand dollars.....all pests that need to die according to the shellfish industry. The Pacific Shellfish Institutes goals and priorities for 2015 would like to see to it that all of them gone. Dig Clams..this is about BIG INDUSTRY, NOT private beaches and trespassing.

Plastic bags so thick you couldn't walk on the beach if you wanted to. Plastic tubes that would cut your feet open if you step on one. Plastic that prevents all natives from existing . industry has sold the clean water line, but they haven't told anyone that they want all predators dead and gone. Predators include, diving ducks, otters, crabs, many others.

DigClams, The majority of the people DO NOT own their tidelands in Eld Inlet. It's about 50/50 if you do some research. I happen to own my tideland but do not consider anyone wanting to walk the beach trespassing on private land. I welcome people so they can learn about what is indigenous to our beaches. I grow oysters privately too. The problem is, what is indigenous is disappearing due to over zealous, greedy commercial shellfish growers. The public is now getting involved, like it or not.
well, SouthSoundHiker2010 if you're walking the beaches then you are very likely trespassing on private property as the majority of the houses on the inlet OWN their tidelands. So, unless you have permission from the property owner, then you are most definitely trespassing and can be arrested according to the law in the area.
The only ones who will dispute the facts about the Mega-Million Dollar profits being made at nature's expense are the large shellfish companies and thier flunkies. Go out on the beaches and see the truth as it's laid out for all to see.

The controversy appears to primarily involve geoduck farming and the use of plastic structures and nets, and the proliferation of these practices with little or no public involvement. It's common sense that the rush to grow geoduck is fueled by greed. If Eld Inlet is cleaner it's because of taxpayer funded sewer systems.
Well, let's see...where to start...ELD Inlet is cleaner today than it was 20 years ago because of the smaller shellfish farms. How is it greed to want to make a living for your family? Can you explain that? My guess is that you're one who lives off the public teat and has not clue what real life is. Your life consists of forcing others to do what you want them to do which makes you a bully.
