  • Freddie's the best.....ever.....and always!!

  • Freddie's got the best voice on the planet!

    So FREDDIE wins!!!!!!!!!

    No comparison!

  • plant!!!! the best voice...ever!!!

  • Rob Halford wins.

  • Freddie's rules

  • robert who? FREDDIE FTW

  • Ronnie James Dio

  • FREDDIE and......who?? lol

  • @jimmypagethebest1 i know i know stupid mistake i didn t see it

  • Mercury is better than Robert Pland (1973-?_, but Robert (1968-1972) BEATS him don t be stupid guys. Ok it s only 4 years ... 4 years of the best voice of rock. Sorry for my english.

  • @TheOromus pero el sigue viviendo y ha tenido mas vida que Freddie y sin Led zeppelin que es el nada

  • You Are kidding, I hope. I mean it's between a gorgeous, clear, perfect voice and, basically, well..... a scream.

    Freddie--->>>Number ONE!

  • Freddie. PERIOD.

  • Freddie.....All the way!!! Very best voice ever!! No competition at all.

  • FREDDIE!!!!!!! Who else? Not even close! LOL

  • Check out the song "Feelings Feelings take 10" Queen's News of the World sessions.

  • Well there is not really any kind of competition here. Freddie hands down, singer, songwritter, performer, etc.

  • No hay comparación posible. Los demás cantan. Freddie da la sensación de surfear por encima de sonido.

  • Freddie Mercury very best voice

  • Of course Freddie Mercury. He is the best singer.

In my opinion Plant's voice too girly for me.

  • freddie of course !!!!!

  • freddieeeee

  • Comment removed

  • mercury of course!

  • Both are the greatest singers of all time. But my vote goes for Freddie

  • @metalfreak4677 Your comment isn't even worth reading. You.are.a.troll. That is all.

  • @HDStandUp Then why did you read it you damn queer lover! FUCK GAYS!

  • @metalfreak4677 HAAHAHA

  • honestly, they're two of the best singers in the world. but since i dont even know the color of the walls in my room anymore cuz of all the queen posters, i gotta stay faithful to my role model and my baby, Freddie Mercury. All time most unique, sexy, high low, insane, spine chilling voice of all time, in my opinion.

  • Robert Plant with 25 was better than Freddie with 35!

  • Robert Plant absolutely ! More particular voice .Mercury's voice is beautiful , powerful , clean and whatever but Plant's is more mysterious and fascinating .

  • Robert ,,,..... ive heard bootlegs nd his voice is the reason why freddy turn gay.

  • Freddie Mercury, no doubt in that!

  • i really love them both but robert plant is the real deal, the greatest singer of all times.period.

  • Robert Plant!!!

  • Robert because he wasn't a damn queer.

  • @metalfreak4677 oh my god i feel so bad for ignorant people like you. your missing out on so much cuz ur scared or because ur stupid so now ur gonna hate on other people because of who they love. thats none of ur business- he had the best voice of all time, thats all u need to know. and he was not a queer by the way- he was bisexual. throughout the 70's he had a 6 year relationship with a gorgeous women named mary austin, so fuck you.

  • freddie mercury of course

  • They are both amazing, and i love them both, i think Freddie was better, but for those that say Plants voice sucks, listen to this: /watch?v=rrVDViSlsSM that was plants best singing and proved what he could do.

  • no no no, don't make me choose between these two! They are both just awesome :D

Well, after all, Freddie's voice is still the best if you ask me. And always will be. There's no doubt here. Sorry, Robert, you're great too! ;)

  • i fucking hate when people do this. robert plant and freddie mercury are both incredible artists each in their different ways. there's no need to compare them.

  • Both are gods but Freddy's voice.....is the voice!

  • Viva British Rock !!!

  • Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert ... Robert did well, but cant get the high keys of Freddie.

Freddie had much more range in his voice and a better technique.

  • You should have chosen another song of Queen, maybe My Fairy King. Both are GREAT but i choose Freddie n.n<3

  • i would rather be robert plant!!!

  • Zeppelin's great but Queen is wayyyy better!!

  • If it is about personal taste, it does not matters, I preffer Plant, but in terms of vocal range and technic, Freddie is way much better

  • nobody can say freddie or robert plant is better , i'm 16 years old but i now 1 thing THEY ARE FUCKING LEGEND-S ,

  • I’m for Plant but it depends on what you like. Freddie was fantastic for all the Broadway musical sounding rock songs he did. But he falls short of Plant’s hard, anthem-like howling and wailing found in songs like Whole Lotta Love, Kashmir, Immigrant Song, The Battle of Evermore, Four Sticks and he’s phenomenal at the end of You Shook Me. And not to forget Plant’s vocal creativity on the whole album of Houses of The Holy. Have you heard The Crunge?

  • Freddy rules, even tho you only put such a tiny bit of him singing. You clearly prefer Plant.

  • ROBERT FUCKIN PLANT!!!!!! A FUCKIN GOD!!!!!

  • FREDDIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Freddie, Hands down :)

  • Robert Plant!!!!!no disrespect to freddie though

  • Freddie Mercury >>>>>>>>>> all

  • For me - Freddie. But Rob was/is an amazing front man, but on Freddie takes the prize. After all there can be only one...

  • don't make me chose!!!! They are both amazing, but i think i'd have to go with freddie. He's my ultimate idol.

  • Freddy had a more clean voice, Robert had a more powefull and bluesy voice, they are both great, Robert sang in his honor a beautifil song.

  • Bruce Lee or Chuck Norris, Hendrix or Clapton, Jesus or Buddha, Patton or Montgomery who gives a rats ass!!!! Appreciate the individual!

  • Why compare they are both fantastic...

  • Why comp

    are they are both fantastic...

  • Plant is good but Mercury was the real deal, the difference? Freddie could sing Led Zep songs and Plant could only dream of hitting Freddies vocal range, this is really the only fair way to compare them, and Mr Mercury wins!

  • Robert Plant for me. I love his raw edgy, and sometimes eerie voice. Freddie can be a little too grandiose for me.

  • @dapunkof1975 Grandiose for me means better

  • freddie is good but plant is best

  • Vocally Mercury. No contest. WOW

  • Robert was the best Rock singer, but freddie was the better everything singer....he even sang with an opera star, so my vote is for freddie as the better overall vocalist....

  • Freddie is the greatest singer of all time, however, Zeppelin will always be a better band.

  • Two of the greatest rock bands ever, both with their own style. I can sit and listen to them both and not even think about comparing their lead singers.

  • Freddie Mercury much much better, his voice is most beatiful and powerful and he had one of the best vocal ranges of all time

  • I love them both!!!

  • In the 70s. robert could hit any note and hold it like it was nothing. But when freddy was getting famous, robert's voice was going down hill.

  • Sorry Robert I like you, but I just LOVE Freddie.

  • Freddie hands down. I love robert plant and the mighty led zeppelin & robert was a great front man no doubt BUT in terms of vocals I'd have to go with Freddie Mercury. Although I'd have chosen "death on two legs" vs "dazed and confused" to better showcase their vocal might, imo.

  • @fairyfellermaster Totally agree. "death on two legs" is so effortless. Can't say the same for "dazed and confused". Not the best example if you want to compare vocals.

  • It does seem these two are always vying for the top spot. To me, Freddie had a larger vocal range and was much smoother. I love them both, but that's my opinion.

  • id go with Freddie Mercury, but i believe Bruce Dickinson is better then both

  • @TrueIronMaidenFan I can agree with that too! =D

  • @MrFuzzUniverse nice! UP THE IRONS!

  • @TrueIronMaidenFan You really think Bruce was as good as Mercury?.....I find it hard to put Bruce on that level, when most of the time he doesn't even sing in key.....the best will alway's be freddie, and robert....i find robert to be annoying a lot times, but at his best he was very powerful.

  • @mikeskyler71 hey asshole, Bruce ALWAYS sings in key! exept in 1984-1985 i just saw the vocal god live, last year, he is 52 and he sang beautifly. he is WAY better then Plant and Mercury combined

  • @TrueIronMaiden i bet you're 14 years old......only a teenager would say Bruce is better than Freddie...even bruce himself is huge freddie fan....Bruce doesn't even sing in key on the studio records, and is a horrible live singer........i was listening to Maiden before you were born.....seen them in 85, but i grew up, and realized how much better bands like Queen and Zep are.......

  • @TrueIronMaidenFan Vocal god?.....lol....he's ok. he was the first singer i loved, but like i said before...i grew up.....you ever hear Bruce sing Bo Rhap?....or Barcelona?....he sings horrible on those songs...do a little research and you'll see how highly Bruce thinks of Freddie mercury....on a whole different level than Bruce (can't sing in key) Dickinson.....

  • Freddie, better singer. Robert, better voice.

  • i think its two best vocals of ever so its 2 wins

  • Freddie for sure! His vocal range was one of a kind- not one other person in the world has or will ever have a voice like Queen Mercury. Sure, I'm Queen's #1 fan- but when i close my eyes and listen to his voice and anyone else's, i'll ALWAYS know that Freddie wins.

  • @icantstopchewinggum .....I don't know if YOU'RE Queen's #1 fan...LOL.

  • @15BJS lol no i think i am. :) u have to see my room. they are all i think about all day long. i say goodnight to freddies poster everyday and if u look at my youtube history, i havent watched a video that doesnt have to do with freddie or queen like at all- as far down as it goes! anyone who thinks they're a bigger fan- challenge me! id love to meet up lol :):):)

  • @icantstopchewinggum

Well it doesn't matter who the biggest Queen/Freddie Mercury fan is. We can love them together!

  • @15BJS yup :):)

  • Freddie Mercury - hands down the best vocalist! He could do it all without effort. His range a freak of a nature. Rock on Freddie and Robert.

  • Robert is awesome but he didn't have near the vocal range Freddie did and Freddie wasn't restricted to any single genera, he could do anything.

  • freddie <3

  • i like both but prefer robert plant probably just because i hate pop music

  • Freddie es the boss!

  • difference is freddie actually wrote his own music

  • Robert Plant's voice is so fucking hot and he's very talented.

But Freddie's was just beautiful...absolutely amazing. There will never be another one like him.. Rest in peace, Freddie..

  • Freddie Mercury is hands down the best singer and performer of all time. Robert Plant was much better at making groundbreaking studio symphonies of metal. They're both amazing(:

  • they both are shit compared to halford. theyre just overrated

  • It's like to choose bitween mom and dad!!!!!

    Both are great!!!!!

  • robert was a bluesman where as freddie was more of a soprano in my point of view...well to me no one can even come closer to the feel roberts voice had b4 1975...i think fred has more range but my personal favourite is robert..

  • Freddie's vocal is MUCH better.

  • @CuriosityRoads thats kinda funny but, overall...WRONG, FREDDIE WINS. but led zeppelin is the better of the 2 bands

  • Comment removed

  • @CuriosityRoads you're so homophobic!!!! can't people just focus on music and leave aside personal stuff??

  • robert plant has supernatural voice but i love fredy too

  • The top comments are so biased.

  • As much as I love Zeppelin, I love Queen just for Freddie Mercury alone his vocals are best of the best there is not topping them he can probably sing Zeppelin songs better than Plant I love listening to Metal, Rock, and what have you my favorite band is Iron Maiden my favorite singer is Bruce Dickinson, but there is no denying the fact of what an amazing singer Freddie Mercury was

  • For Rock and Metal i would DEFINITELY say ROBERT PLANT...but for ballad and pop...Freddie....both were amazing!

  • @faltrax

listen to the rain song by led zep

  • Freddie had a technically better voice and could sing in falsetto, chest voice, he could belt, and he could sing in that rare soft upper register very easily. Plant had one sound. Distinctive; yes, but eventually boring. Freddie also touched on his emotions better too. So.... FREDDIE!!!

  • thats fucking jimmy page singing not plant fucking morons

  • @karpatza Are you fucking retarded? Robert Plant is the SINGER of Led Zeppelin. Jimmy Page is the LEAD GUITARIST who only gives backing vocals for a couple songs. Robert Plant is singing in this video and in every live performance and studio album from Led Zeppelin. Those are facts. You're just wrong.

  • @IronBoundNorway agreed

  • ROBERT-sexy (I'm a straight dude, but it is)

FREDDIE-range from super low to high

BOTH GREAT BUT FREDDIE IS MY O-P-I-N-I-O-N

  • Robert Plant 1sst freddie 2nd. but they both were great. But robert wins for me

  • People, Robert plant reinvented the rock n roll. There wasnt that kind of singing before. Just remind that.

Robert 's voice is REALLY different from fred 's. Imagine fred singing the begining of stairway to heaven. WTH? the song reamins the same, communication breakdown, whole lotta love... well, you understood what i am trying to say.

  • these arent the best choices for therm

  • I believe Robert Plant was not the better singer but he made me feel better than Freddie Mercury could. I know Mercury's range was higher and all that opera stuff, yeah, yeah. Robert Plant had a voice more distinct, one we will never hear again.

  • freddie is such a god of rock

  • PLANT!!

  • PANT!!

  • Robert Plant!!! but Freddie was great too.

  • Robert Plant!!! but was good too.

  • I depends. It was a time when Robert got wider range than freddie and then he was the best, then in the 80s freddy got better and plant's voice gone worse and worse. It depend on which time period you consider.

  • Robert Plant is way better

  • I think they're both awesome and amazingly gifted. But I think that Freddie Mercury is vocally superior, and most of Queen's music (especially their early stuff) trumps that of Zeppelin's. It was experimental, ephemeral, inspiring. Robert's music was always very simple but emotionally punctuating. I like to listen to both bands for different reasons: Queen for their complexity and vocal prowess, and Led Zeppelin for their blues-inspired metal and percussion sound- Bonham was kickass.

  • @miki03soimu, i totally agree with you!!!! thanks :)

  • @miki03soimu, i tottaly agree with you!!!! thanks :)

  • Why are you, guys, doing this? What's music for you, a contest?

Why should one be better than another? In my opinion they are so different that you really can't compare them. This is like comparing grapes with tomatoes.

Can you FEEL what they sing? Can they touch your soul? Can they stir your imagination? Well, if both can do that, then they are both so amazing.

  • Robert Plant > Freddie Mercury, IMO. Bigger range, and I love his tone..

  • imo, robert has a cool euro, mysterious tone to his voice that's just unparalleled.

sure freddie hits higher notes and performs great but he's no plant.

  • Vocal range: Plant

    Power: Plant

    Phrasing: Plant

    Skill: Plant

    Charisma: Plant

    Songwriting: Plant

    Looks: Plant

  • @CuriosityRoads :D :D :D \m/

  • Freddie didn't just use falsetto's for the high notes to be fair :p lol

  • RP blazed (some of ) the trails v distinctively. FM kept the miles going & into many other different directions under a highly personal stamp.

  • Not a very good song to show Freddie's potential tough

  • 1-Steve Marriott !!!!!!

    2-Robert Plant

    3-Freddie Mercury

  • Robert doesn't have as near a vocal range as freddie, sure he can hit high, but you really hear him try when he's singing, Freddie can just do it right off the bat, I personally like Freddie more because there wasn't a better showman live like him.

  • @litledevel15 You are so fuckin kidding me. I think this Mercury Mania has got hold of so many....Freddie firstly did not have a 4 Octave Range. He had a 3.6 octave range, C2-F5. Robert Plant has a bigger range than Freddie, C#2- A5. He could go 2 notes higher, and probably could hit a B5. Plant could go higher in falsetto also. So next time you think about saying that Freddie's vocal range is the greatest of all, think again. Robert's, Axl's, Dickinson's, McCartney's ranges are all bigger.

  • @TheRockLover1000

HAHAHAHA I never once said it was a 4 octave range even though it is! He could hit an F2-E6. lol and axl, a greater range than freddie????? Wow I definitely want the shit you're smoking because it's clearly some dank shit! hahahaha Plant is a better rock singer hands down, but Freddie had a lot more potential and had a way better vocal range than plant. lol quit being so immature about an opinion that doesn't even matter.

  • @litledevel15 Dude.....first of all, even F2-E6 is not a 4 octave range. One note short. Secondly, that E6 is totally blatant falsetto. Freddie's real range was C2-F5. You see, unlike you I've researched and found a lower note than Freddie's F2. Still, his real range C2-F5. Anything above F5 is falsetto. Axl's range is G1-G5, McCartney's is A1-F5, Dickinson's is B1-F5, and Plant's is C#2-A5. I know a thing or two about vocals, trust me.

  • @TheRockLover1000 Axl's range is G1-G5, you say? Pray tell, where is this G1 that you speak of?

  • @Thetarantinomaniac We all know that it is definitely out there somewhere. As far as I'm concerned, the G1 exists. We just have to find it.

  • @TheRockLover1000 Well...two can play that game. As far as any of these Freddie fanboys are concerned, there's a Mercury F1 that exists. We just have to find it.

  • @Thetarantinomaniac Not really. I base my assumption on facts. Facts like Axl Rose is a Bass-Baritone, who has as low a voice (Or even lower than) other people who we have seen, some of whom can dive down to even an E1. (Read: Peter Steele and Frank Zappa). Another fact is that he has hit Bb1's multiple times, and his A1's are very strong. (2nd strongest I've heard.) And G1 is very close to an A1.

  • @TheRockLover1000 Well the point is that if you think you're in a position to assume certain notes as a part of a singer's range even if we haven't heard them, anyone else is in the same position. You say Axl can hit a G1? Who says Mercury can't go lower than C2, then? Or we could just go by what we know, which is that Mercury has C2-F5 and Axl has A1-G5.

  • @Thetarantinomaniac The fact remains that all the things we know about Axl Rose (Low Baritone, Multiple Spoken Bb1's, strong A1's) point to him having a G1, and nothing by Mercury (Low Tenor, Spoken C2) suggested that he could go lower.

  • @TheRockLover1000 Spoken C2s suggest being able to go lower to me. It is, after all, harder to speak a note without fry than it is to sing it. Who's to say what sorts of limits were placed on what any of these guys COULD do? There's no telling how far the extent of their ranges that we haven't heard could have stretched. We can only measure the extent of their ranges that we have heard recorded, and in the case of Axl, that happens to be A1-G5. Not G1-G5.

  • @Thetarantinomaniac "It is, after all, harder to speak a note without fry than it is to sing it." Really? Which is why Peter Steele, Freddie Mercury, and tons of others all have their lowest notes hit in spoken passages/ Interviews, I assume. No. It's far easier to hit low notes in speaking than singing, and I know for a fact that you are the only one on the forum that isn't buying this :P

  • @TheRockLover1000 It's because rock doesn't call for low singing often, and it's popular to use a lower voice during spoken passages to sound dramatic. When singing, though, you're in control of the notes you go for, so you're more likely to go for low notes out of your comfortable range without fry. When speaking, the voice is inclined to switch to fry around your bottom register. So if you can avoid using fry for those notes without trying, you should be able to sing them when you are trying.

  • @litledevel15 If you believe I'm doing this to Diss Freddie, you're wrong. I'm just pointing out the facts. If you want, you can ask TheTarantinoManiac, CuriosityRoads, GoodGuitarSolos also. They are my friends and have done quite some research and vocal videos on Youtube, and will tell you the same.

  • @litledevel15 Axl has a far wider range than Freddie ever had. An overall range of A1-C#7 and a full voice range of A1-G5, solid at both ends. You might prefer Freddie as a singer, but Axl has much more range.

As for Plant, his range in his wasn't that much bigger than Freddie's but he certainly had a vastly superior high range.

  • @CuriosityRoads And we still haven't included Axl's Fry notes. He must go to something like C1 in fry.

  • @CuriosityRoads axl rose? C#7! Wow!

  • @poptart2345 i don't care what axle roses Range was....it's easy to hit high notes sounding like a dying Cat.....he doesn't belong on the same list as Freddie Mercury and robert plant...maybe on a list comparing worst singers of all time?.....

  • @litledevel15 You don't seem to know much about VOCAL RANGES. Both of them are incredible vocalists but Plant does have wider range.
