I'm not sure how other states do it...but that is not assault in SC. Assault implies malicious intent. Providing a barrier between John McCain and three strangers who are rushing him in an elevator is not malicious in nature. You should have approached him during the time that he was waiting to get on the second elevator and let him know that Barry wanted an interview and was on his way. I'm not sure how other states do it...but that is not assault in SC. Assault implies malicious intent. Providing a barrier between John McCain and three strangers who are rushing him in an elevator is not malicious in nature. You should have approached him during the time that he was waiting to get on the second elevator and let him know that Barry wanted an interview and was on his way. It's obvious that he doesn't mind talking with people if approached respectfully and with clear intention

I also tried approaching him 2 days earlier and was intercepted by his press secretary. He wasn't answering my questions period, because my network is not pro-state. I tried getting someone sooner, but unfortunately Barry got there as they were getting in the elevator.

NH is an Open Carry state, and the government doesn't demand a permit.
Did you watch the video? This was the NH Liberty Forum! That means lots of gun carrying 4th amendment advocates. I knew some of them, and McCain had no Security at that point other than the fat guy that attacked us.
So yes, anyone could walk up to him.
