Good videos, have gotten a 2nd budgie to mate and be friends with my first little lady, this video series has been great to follow. It carries the same themes of care I've found in books and other online forums for budgies - I rate it A+ and worthy for a budgie owner or interested owner to watch.

thats okay :) it all depends on the budgie! i have 2 budgies, and their really quiet, and my neighbor has ones from the same litter, and theyr LOUD. so, it really depends on weather or not your bird is a quiet or loud one, like humans :)

@daddiesprincess100 Yup, you're right. I also noticed that some tend to be very loud when they don't get enough attention. For example, when the owner is away all day and comes back at 8 'o clock, a budgie tends to be very noisy through out the evening. ^^'

The budgie looks really scraggly! I have no doubt she takes good care of him, but is that from molting or are some birds just ruffled? My two males are always preening and look very sleek. Yet they are cowards and would never let a camera approach them like that without flying away. This one is curious about the camera. lol

Don't clip your bird's wings and work on a healthy relationship with him/her. Being in another room and having your bird fly throughout the house looking for you, finding you, and landing on your shoulder to hang out is a great feeling =]

@deadcitysundaymusic I agree, but at first you sort of need to clip their wings and get them to be able to trust you and bond with you, if you just leave them as free flyers they probably will fly away from the big scary giant trying to get them. But after a while of trust and bonding time you have wiht your parakeet, let them grow their wings and fly around.

i am getting a pet budgie and i have a dog living in my house. i don't know if i should clip the wings of my budgie i'm getting. if i don't clip he could get alot of excersise but if i do clip, he won't be able to get away from my dog if he attacks. clip or not to clip? plz reply!

i have a maltiepom in the house and my parakeet is cliped but still she flutters she is a rare blue parakeet named saphire me and my friends and family tamed her in ONE day she is so awsome. but if cliped it can still get away from the dog if you have the budgie out make sure the dog is not in the room

I'm not the specialist here, but I *would* say that you should be really careful to make sure your bird is never in a situation that it'll matter. keep your dog closed out of the room whenever the budgie is loose. Ms. Cantu said in another video that budgies are very fearless when they're comfortable in a house, and they might not even try to run away from a dog. By the time they have reason to fear, it might be too late.

I'm lucky i bought a young, smart budgie that easy trusted me. I never had to clip his wings. His wings were short when I got him and I would offer him a perch or pencil when he was on the ground then eventually my finger to take him back to his cage.

They don't have their wings cutoff, only some of the feathers are trimmed to keep them from flying. The feathers grow back at the next molt.

Thats normal, it will problably be quiet a month, but talk to it, dont scare it, or yell at it. Then try to putin your finger so it can bite you ( it wont bite hard), after a while it will start to trust you, just be nice ;)

Very true. One of the greatest training methods is clipping their wings and putting them into an empty bathtub. From the bathtub with clipped wings they can't fly out OR climb out. By using the Up on finger method they will soon realize you are rescuing them from a place they are unable to get out of. This is the method i used and it worked great for both of my parakeets

I have one budgie (english budgie) and he screams and sqwauks all day long! And plus, I found him in a parkinglot, so he's afraid of me touching him. He does take food from my hand and flies to me, lands on my shoulder and plays with me, but he won't let me touch him...any advice?

budgies really only touch eachother on the beak and face. start by petting his beak, then eventually you can pet their heads with your fingertip.

My grandparents used to have a pet parakeet named Peepsie. Most adorable thing in the world. She was very playful and sociable. She never stopped twittering and chirping, but the sounds were very quiet. Funnily enough, she was best friends with their kitten. :)
