  • This countrry has gone to the dogs , but then again maybe the dogs can run this country better then it,s run. Time is too short for all this nonsence and Miami Steven has told the truth and these big wigs should be ashame of themselves.

  • It don,t make any difference what they are their still not doing the right thing ,Steven 's words are the truth.

  • i'm a big little steven fan and i agree with what he is saying that you must question policiation all the time, and i like when he says he's not a democrat, commounist, and a republic and i'm not a republican either, and i just love this video and this song also, i also have it on dvd when sings it in concert. and i find he looks real sexy and he really looks good back then and today. and i just love the way he performs and the the way how he do his eyes just makes me laugh.and i just like lisal

  • i like the video and i agree with my boy little steven you really need to ask questions.

  • right! love it!

  • is this song reggae rhythm?

  • What a pretentious cheeseball.

  • Make that "Fucking A Like"

  • I ain't no Republican!!!! I am a patriot, I do my duty every election day and so does Steve...and you question every MF, especially if they have alot of money and find out where they got it from...hopefully not from you...

  • NOT a Tea Party tune...Even more true today than in 1984!

  • True that- then and now.

  • The first thing that came to my mind when that stage popped up on my computer screen was SRV!!!!!

  • I believe what Steven is saying because it is the truth ,sitting down , riding , walking or talking , because it is true. I believe it . This country is scrud up .

  • Jesus Christ. This is a very good explanation as to why he's a rhythm guitar player for a good musician.

  • When I am havin' one of these days, I listen to Steve and this video, and I feel ALL BETTER!!!! THANKS STEVE FOR THE WORDS OF WISDOM!!!!

  • I think it is funny how Steven has pretty much completely dropped expressing any political opinions publicly these days. He has even joked his wallet makes him consider voting Republican... ..

  • That black guy with the mohawk. Is that Plasmatics Bill Laswell?

  • his words remain spot on now!

  • @Liberty4ev63

Yeah! Let's not express our views! Pffttt! That's what they do in democracies! We don't need that shit, right?

  • mr.little steven, you couldn´t be more right, and as a public figure you are very important to the "common people awerenese!! always fight for peoples freedom!! the government want to emprisone us with the idea of "terrorism" and the terrorists are themselfs!

  • Pure honesty at its finest God bless.

  • Little Steven for president

  • 'I sure ain't no fuckin' Republican!' ...amen brother

  • amen, brother, AMEN...thanks for sharing!

  • Damn, Steven looks cool

  • We need this spirit in every country now. Fuck the governments, they hurt and take away freedom from people, if you look countries like China, Iran, and yes most of the western lands, they're taking the freedom of speech away. Fucking neo-conservatism. TV and media are full of propaganda, it's hard to avoid it. Goodbye, liberalism and democracy! It's very bad situation, people need to wake up!

  • Who is the dude with the blonde Mohawk who pops out? I love that part the best. This is the best video ever>

  • @kellylbarron That's former Plasmatic Jean Beauvoir.

  • @kellylbarron Former Plasmatic, Jean Beauvoir

  • @wolverine84

Thank you for the information. I love Jean Beauvoir. Not just because he has almost every vowel in his name!!! You're kind to share.

  • @wolverine84

Thank you for the information. I love Jean Beauvoir. Not just because he has every vowel in his name!!! You're kind to share.

  • Look my "Saint Franis"

  • he should have been Bruce............

  • I have loved this song since the first time I heard it, he is so RIGHT! Love you, Steven!

Love your Underground Garage Show too!

  • Steven is saying something that I relate to because people in high places is destroying america with the greed on the people that is trying to make it and I believe that they don,t care about the low man, and if it was not for the low man, the people in high places could not make. It is a sin to be greedy and they just don,t care.

  • Jackson Browne did a great cover of this too.

  • Epic.

  • I sure ain't no fucking republican.

  • @ipouponu God Bless YOU!

  • wow 1 I've never seen this, I remember the song never new Miami Steve wrote it, he looks so cool back in 84 and what a voice, hope Bruce lets him sing this onstage oneday at a boss concert.

  • Silvio :)

  • and the river opens for the fascists - TO DEVOUR, SWALLOW AND DROWN ´EM !

  • The lyrics are "and the river opens for the righteous you idiot!" Miami Steve isn't a racist. Are you deaf?

  • "a joke?"

  • I AM NO COMMUNIST NO CAPITALIST NOD EMOCRAT NO FUCKING REPUBLICAN MY PARTY IS FREEDOM. well said and more valuable than ever !!!!!!!!!!obama should have given HIM the prize, not always the boss boss boss, he has won enough of them prozes, no? its time for van zandt to get recognition also !

  • some wild things goin on these days ... (thats for the last 25j now) ....you question every mf , everywhere everytime ! not to be forgotten .. steves the man

  • amazing performance

  • Watching today brings it all back, republicans fighting against a health system available for everyone. Only because Obama wants to provide it for all Americans. We are back in the eighties.

  • @aarlevanbram

Well Said, SO TRUE! Bless you!

  • Stevie is great

  • Bada bing bada bong wrote this 1 check it out!!

  • Who would've thought that Little Steven paid such close attention to his teacher's who taught him terms like Blind Nationalism? He's amazing. I'm sure glad he's still with us in spirit.

  • he's still with us for real.

  • Great song by a great American.

  • Awesome song.

A lot of conservatives would do well to listen to it.

  • Comment removed

  • and all over the world, not just in the US!

  • Brother Man.

The Soul of E Street..and spirit in the night of rock n roll.

    Steve is the Man.

    Bada bing!

  • This was 1984... People who think that this is about the republican agenda.... well,.... you're mistaken.... question every mofo...

be a member of the world community

    be loyal to the truth.

    not the dogma

    freedom, human rights, and democracy.

    people deciding for themselves.

  • "With Voice of America, his music became explicitly political, with the central theme being opposition to Ronald Reagan-era American foreign policy."

    - wiki

  • Glenn Beck is profiting from YOU... and this is SO NOT HIS MESSAGE!

  • I know one party. It's name is freedom.

  • I sure ain't no fucking Republican!

  • I am a patriot

    And I love my county

Because my country is all I know

I want to be with my family

    The people who understand me

Ive got nowhere else to go...good song!!:P

  • "Being a patriot means quesitoning every motherfucker every time...." good defiinition...

  • @znarf541 I FULLY agree. In the early years of this century, we got sucked into the whole, "You disagree? You must support Terrorism." THAT needs to die.

  • He looks like a pirate.

  • Now Steven Van Zant is a mobster on the sopranos. Don't seem so sissy now, does it???

  • Well , if you don,t like what he is saying or singing don,t listen or look , you have a problem with are you gay or foolish , you need to look in the mirrow and ask your self should I go to church and practice what you are preaching ,and stop being so mean and hateful the world don,t need evil thoughts like you period. stop the hate.

  • Lets just remember the most important part of this whole video....when he says...

"IT IS UP TO US TO CHANGE THINGS!"

  • I find the fallacy of your statement to be self-evident.

  • what i find strange, is you could have said a million different things.... something about the great speech he gave, and how we as a people play an important role in the world ...or the great music played after the great speech....or just how cool it was for somebody to put this on youtube....but the only thing that interested you was the way he dressed....so not only do you sound like a jealous boyfriend.... but it also sounds like you got some personal issues you havent dealt with yet....

  • Actually straight men used to dress like that -especially rebellious ones. Gay men didn't dress like that because they did not want to draw attention to themselves. Steven Van Zandt's 1984 speech is a classic and it is even truer today than it was back then. His definition of a patriot has been adopted by people whose lives are being threatened by extreme nationalism. lacrabe -Little Steven's words will still be repeated long after your comments have been forgotten.

  • Steven described the "look" best in the lyric, "out in the desert where the gypsy pirates ride" I remain, "Among the believers"

  • Yeah What IS lacrabe's problem?

"Mental La Crab's" in his "Emotional Crotch?"

"And the River Opens for the Righteous!"

    Peace Out!

    -=0=-

  • I think his intro speech to this song was longer then the actual tune. Think the coke had anything to do with it?

  • I agree, I shit my pants when i found out that Sil was Little Stevie from the E street Band. Ed Vedder's cover of this song is fucking great.

  • I can't believe that's Silvio from the Sopranos

  • Thank you for posting this. The album "Voice of America" came out the same time as Bruce's "Born in the USA" and this was by far my fave. Love SVZ.

  • Hell yeah, a very classic opening sermon. Well, he learned from the best! Asbury Park 4 lyfe God.

    And I ain't no socialist

and I sure ain't no imperialist

    And I ain't no democrat

    From Buenos Aires, Argentina

  • Little Steven is cool!

  • Magnifico! from Rome

  • ok, the speach at the beginning was... really hot. go little steven :)

  • .. perhaps 2 others enjoyed the show. I should've known; it was Germany & Germans (those I knew) couldn't understand this music. Deep Purple = 5000 would've gone; paid 3x as much. They played their A's off, but it was a lost cause.

  • great video great album voice of america rock on little steven

  • "The dude with the mohawk" is Jean Beauvoir. The drummer is Dino Danelli, formerly of the Rascals. Don't know the bassist and keyboards player.

  • Bassist is Gary Tibbs!! Sweet!!

  • Gosh! You've really made my day!

This song is so special to me!!

  • JoshGordon, how the hell would you subscribe to Little Steven music if you don't share his beliefs, they are an integral part of all his songs and above all this one.

  • Concert in Germany - I was only 1 jumpin up&down & shoutin&yellin to the Bands frustrated ?'s - "OK; U didn't like that, what should we play ? Umm, how about RolloverBeethoven, OK ?" The longer they played the less audience they had. They played on & on; real troopers. Now do U understand (better)?

  • A couple points:

    I love this song.

JohGordon1 sounds like a typical corrupt government loving fascist ass kisser.

Sure the outfits are corny and so is the fake accent, but damn it's a great song and one of the best messages ever in a lyric.

Also, check out "No More Party's" (possesive, not plural) from Freedom-No Compromise.

  • I went; I knew who they were; may've been only 1 wold enuf to know the Rascals & I may've been the only American there. I went to other shows too ( at the Frankfurt Opera Haus; me & 100 others. 50% went cause I told tem they should, t other 50% I didn't know). Huge Band (at least 10 players on a tiny stage). I wasn't popular after that .

  • gosh

  • did he realize where he was & almost no one present knew what the heel he was oatmealing about ... they though it

was the boring part of the song (it was)

  • to jongordon1, to bad you are so closed minded, this is a great song with a timesless message. I am quite sure he knew where he was at...oatmealing? what a gay discritption for a song intro...oatmealing? what a moron!

  • dude - he was in germany. speechs R not spoken in english here. Few knew where he was coming from music/politically. Few had ever heard of any1 in band - or even knew who the band was previously & immediately forgot afterwards.

  • When I was in Germany better than 25 years ago more people spoke English than did not speak it.

  • josh gordon sounds like a typical asshole truck driving republican.... of course your not goin to like stevie's speech.. its against assholes like yourself...
