  • Grossly overpriced, pretentious, and ultimately disappointing.

    Per Se is best suited to the tourists who want to return to Middle America and try to impress their friends by saying they've been there. If you really know your food and wine, there are at least 5,000 better places in New York to get a great meal.

  • @sandrodream1 It's originally Latin though. And in an interview about how they came up with the name, Thomas Keller mentioned that they arrived at Per Se when they were considering calling the restaurant Ampersand. And since Per Se is a part of that Latin conflation the, and they liked Per Se better than Ampersand, they used that instead. Many words exist in both Latin and Italian, but in this case it's the Latin.
