Finally got a wheel! I'm trying to drift but I'm spinning out... I think I know what I'm doing wrong.. I'm going in with no power, then putting power on, let it slip and put on opposite lock. In this video, you're kinda putting on the lock, then steering back and forth a bit, where I'm just putting it at the lock. Any tips?

you make it look so easy... I try and get the wheel round as fast as i can to catch it, but everytime it just spins out.... am i doing something wrong? i turn into the corner, bury my foot to the floor, and let the wheel steer it out, i help it too by spinning slightly to get to the lock quicker. but it always spins out.. i cant get the hang of it.

Traction control doesn't stop your drift it controls it with the amount of power that's applied

Good tips on feel for the car and slide control, not setting up for a drift though, this is more 'entering a powerslide into a drift'.

Any tips on entering a corner on drift? seen some guys setup and counterslide before entering the corner at full drift. That's what I want... XD

@OpeiGrafikka Well, generally the guys that begin their drifting before the corner give a tap of the handbrake a bit before hand, or use a "Scandinavian flick" to break traction early. This is so they have an angle closer to (though generally never hit) 90 degrees when they go past the apex of the corner, however, their drift speed is slower. I prefer to start at turn in, in this video I just demonstrated my preference.

@maserati199 - tell me about it. Shift 2 is an arcade game where you can get away with powerful upgrades and point and shoot racing where in GT5, those speeds would require much more driving skill. The Red Bull X1, of course, is the only exception in GT5 due to its powerful suction and aero prowess. Any other normal car with the WORKS upgrade performances from Shift 2 in GT5 would be a challenge to duplicate the racing outcomes you get in SHift 2 - hopes that makes sense.

@paul990ku Depends on the corner, you do not want to be in a low enough gear that the wheels cannot spin and the engine revs out, but nor do you want to be in such a high gear that you cant give it power to break traction. as a general rule, go with the suggested gear that the game says.

my tecniqe is the fiant drift i dont relly use the brake drift only some time but if u wont to be a pro drifter like my when u grow up wheels like these and games like forza 3 and GT5 are great game to pratice on and like he said prctice and to add some thingwhen you are in a drift and u feel like you are going to spin out slowly let off the gas and then when u can control it you can hit the gas but NEVER let off the gas all the way on less u do that drift to slide the back end out

ohh and, unless i missed it somehow, you should also say how, when finishing the drift, you should immediately turn the wheel back so you would'nt spin back the other way.(unless connecting two drifts) but great tutorial.

@shadygamer616 Hmm...I would suggest trying to learn power off (Turning in with out any power on and then use the throttle once the car is sliding to maintain your drift)

@MrKyle080905 the g27 lacks a sequential shift but the shifter has a better feel and the wheel is queiter but if you can over come the noise of the wheel and mod the shifter for a better feel you should go for the g25 but if you want the xtra buttons and the adjustable pedals and queiter wheel over a sequential shifter go for the g27

If you change gears w/o the clutch it just goes into Neutral in the game and you have to put the clutch back in and then re engage the gear.

hmmm... there was quiet a few instances of where a manual transmission car should have stalled in that video, yet it kept running great. if I mirrored your actions in LFS the engine would be stalled in no time... I guess if your really serious about REAL sim-racing play on PC. After all, G25 is used by most serious pc simmers. :)
