I am very pleased with this video, beautifully done. Thanks Tayzeus. Just followed Hanggai's footpath in Australia from Sydney to Melbourne. Their music is absolutely stunning and powerful, that it made me cry. I am so proud of them as for going so far to introduce the amazing Chinese minority music to the world. Keep up all the good work guys! Their music has no boundary geographically.
wow i love hanggai i hope that the world sees that we must come together to keep technology from overtaking the natural ways of the world, the world must come back to its roots and stop thinking money is going to make us happy because it never will......... the best things in life are free and throat singing is what keeps all souls happy and gives hope to all entities........
By traditional Mongolian it should be "Hanggai", not "Hangai". That's the problem when you don't know your traditional scripts, because you no longer know what the original way of saying it is. Mongolian is a beautiful language, but what a shame that the outer Mongolians gave up their traditional scripts for political reasons.
Just came home from the Roskilde Festival in Denmark.. Hanggai was the last band that I watched play before I took off, and what better way to end a great festival, than by listening to great music!? Hanggai made fans out of all of us.
The Inner Mongolians are working hard to keep their traditions alive. They have not become Chinese but, like the Tibetans, have had a tough time under Chinese rule. Given the history of the Mongol people I find it unbelievable that there is such in fighting between Inner and Outer Mongolia. Everyone should work together. Check out AnDa Union US tour on youtube They are young Mongolians living in Hohhot whose mission is to spread Mongolian culture throughout the world.
It's very good that you learn traditional Mongolian. I actually think Mongolia should give up so called new mongol and start to re-use the traditional scripts. Inner Mongolians aren't going to unite with Outer Mongolia to become one nation, just forget about it. Having chinese influence does not make the Inner Mongolians any less of being Mongolians, just like having Russian influence doesn't alter outer Mongolians. Different cultures can interact and influence each other, it's a two way street.
Until 1921 all of Mongolia was part of China so its only recent history that has seen Outer Mongolia as separate from Inner Mongolia. Then Russia did its best to destroy Mongolian culture and its only very recently that Outer Mongolia has been truly independent. It would seem that all this bad feeling is a result of propaganda. The Mongols need a new Ghengis Khan to reunite them.
It's because Inner Mongolians are also ethnic Mongolians and their culture is part of Mongolian culture. Outer Mongolians have given up their traditional scripts for political reason and that is the real tragedy.
I really agree with Aldaraa. Mongolia, china are way too different. Our music specially our folk music is much much beautiful than chine music. I also really upset about this whole china thing is going around. for the most westerners asia is china. In this video I also felt that kind of info too. Who is great? a people who biult the great wall? or The people who made them to built?
They are Inner Mongolians living in Inner Mongolia and it is great that they are keeping their cultural heritage. Inner Mongolians still use their traditional scripts, outer Monglians, however, gave up them for political reason, and that is the most shameful thing. I am glad that you are proud of Mongolian history, but most outer Mongolians can't even read about their history which was recorded in traditional Mongolian.
How can you not connect Mongolia with China? They have more than a thousand years of trade, fighting and cross culturalisation. Of course Mongolian culture is not Chinese culture but it is a fact that about half of the land that once made up Mongolia is now a part of China. What, are all the ethnic mongolians in that area supposed to have magically forgotten their culture and traditions? I don't think so. You should be happy that Mongolian culture is still alive in those areas of China!!!

Together with their traditional written language the outer Mongolians also got rid of their family names and all family trees!

@rxhanjian So why did Mongolians came to attack and mix with China some centuries ago ?
Krummablod 9 months ago
@Krummablod : Why do you think. Just like most other countries they wanted to expand :)
shoelacedonkey 6 months ago
@shoelacedonkey Exactly ! So Mongolia and China are a bit inbound.
