Sometimes I feel like just coming home and playing music for the rest of my life.
I was so lucky to grow up in New Orleans, I was right in the heart of the City so I saw some of the greatest musicians in the World right dere in City.
This is an amazing video of Dr. John and so many more talented New Orleans artists! Thanks for sharing such a special video. If you are ever looking for more New Orleans music stop by gonola.com and see all the great blogs and videos we have!
Dr. John is the definition of cool. He is part of the reason that New Orleans is such a special place. It is the only city that I have ever been to that just has a feeling in the air, and the only way that I can describe the feeling is that it's New Orleans.
I finally got to see Dr. John 2-3 years ago at the Regent Theater outside Boston...on a Monday night after his regularly scheduled Sunday show had been snowed out. He too was stuck in town due to the storm and sho'nuff...word spread cuz it was a sold out show . He and his band were all anyone could have asked for. Y'all know already, he's totally unique (I can say y'all, I lived in Memphis for a while - talk about MUSIC!), obviously loves being out there on that stage. Dr. John's the BALLS!
well, i dont know about y'all, but Mac has been a major part of my musical life for a long time. He means so much to the city, to its fans and to the culture of that great place. This album is another wonderful creation from the good Doctor, and I cant wait to see him again in a few months. Thanks Doc and I hope many more.
Ronnie (piano - "Broke My Baby's Heart") wore the original Mardi Gras costume playing the character "Dr. John" in Mack's band. Mack didn't want to wear the costume originally but took it over later.
"from Wikipedia": Dr. John (also Dr. John Creaux) is the stage name of Malcolm John Rebennack Jr. (born November 21, 1940), a colorful pianist, singer, and songwriter, whose music spans, and often combines, blues, boogie woogie, and rock and roll. He originally concentrated on guitar before his left ring finger was injured by a gunshot while Rebennack was defending singer/keyboardist Ronnie Barron, his bandmate, Jesuit High School classmate, and longtime friend.
Dr. John IS A LIVING LEGEND! He is one of the greatest music artists of the modern era! I feel blessed to have met him and see him play in concert half a dozen times! He's got an AMAZING supporting band, too!

He reminds me of something Vinicius De Moraes said once about being the blackest white man in Brazil. This could also apply to Dr. John no?
