@melitosse No, just the band. I saw them at the Palace, Old Orchard Beach, Maine - not quite the venue to support an orchestra behind a rock band. Also saw the Vagrants, the Turtles and other great bands there.
Wow! I'm 53 from the UK and just discovered The Left Banke here on You Tube today. How good were they (and from this video still are). There I was searching to listen to the Four Tops singing one of my favourite songs ever 'Walk away Renee' and 'BANG' there they were. And don't they still sound great in 2011. Off now to buy a Left Banke cd or 2. Wonder if they'll be playing in the UK? God I hope so.
Absolutely outstanding! I'd have paid the airfare to see this alone! Please please Tom get organised for a UK date or 10!! PS anything else on Michael or Steve on their future involvement?
Absolutely not!! The music sounds as fresh and relevent as a lot of the indie bands that are making music now. I have never considered the Left Banke an oldies band. For those who have only heard Walk Away Renee or Pretty Ballerina, they no not what they have been missing.
Tom, Please come to Pittsburgh! I keep playing all the videos that have been posted over and over. This is truly magic!!! One of things to do on my bucket list before I die is to see the Left Banke live. GOD BLESS YOU GUYS!!!!
Tom Feher and I were at Joe's Pub standing near the stage and we were grinning ear to ear, loving it. Song after song. it was great. Well done guys! Great job!
It just goes to show you, Never say never. I never thought i'd ever see this band play live. They sounded brilliant! The strings were a wonderful add to making it sound like the old recordings. I hope they do some touring in the future. We are ready for the Left Banke to come back.
Music is magical, but this band takes it to another level for me! I missed the show but I celebrated during the show at home with a little something to drink anyway!
This band gave and gave of itself producing beautiful music in such a short span and got taken for everything they gave, and more. After 40 years it's wonderful to see they're back!!!.
@djtomfinn Tom: I was at the Saturday show. I do not think you guys really can understand the impact your music has made. There is something about the "DNA" in your music that grabs your heart, mind and spirit and gets inside you. Pundits call your sound "Baroque Rock" as they do groups like "Fairfield Parlour", but if that is the category, then The Left Banke is on the top. I truly truly thank you from the bottom of my heart for so many happy moments throughout the years. Rob
@djtomfinn I just bought a remastered CD of Left Banke's first CD. this is such great song, now, then and I would venture to say for many more years. This is a great video-I always like live better. Cheer to you all for loving what you do even now; many thanks.
I was there too and I agree; I have seen hundreds of concerts since the 60's and THAT WAS THE BEST!! What a vibe... they were tight, well rehearsed, loving the music and the chance to play it again.. you could FEEL IT. It was magical; Mike did an amazing job as lead singer... the girls on strings added the lush sound like the studio recordings... really, what a lucky treat to live in New York and be able to go and witness history; I had tears in my eyes; THANK YOU LEFT BANKE!
One of the most underated and legendary groups of the 1960's. They had it all ; great songwriting and arrangements, fine production, steller musicianship and 5 egos to spare! Long live The Left Banke! I hope they do a tour , thier fans including myself will eat it up.
I still get chills listening to this. The greatest record never to make the top 10 in Billboard.

The guy to the immediate left of the singer REALLY pulls the song together.

This sounds close to the original. Was it used in the background in a Vietnam war film or TV series?

We like to tour, but we need a good booking agency, we don't want to do the oldies circuit
