  • "You can smoke all you want. You can breathe it in. You can hold it. You can suck it 'til you die. But you can't blow it on me." So....why does this inconsistent buffoon want to send people to prison for drugs? He already stated it is acceptable to kill yourself. Typical neo-cunt double standard.

  • What is ominous is the ease with which some people go from saying that they don't like something to saying that the government should forbid it. When you go down that road, don't expect freedom to survive very long.

    Thomas Sowell

  • The "Smoking" or "Non-Smoking" choice worked fine. These people were even raiding Smoke Shops and complaining! Nobody's forcing them to go to the "Smoking" establishments, just as nobody's forcing us to go to the Non-Smoking ones.

  • Okay, then you'll have to ban cars too. That's probably next, after sodas and twinkies!

  • Hickabee is a traitor and needs to be extradited from the United States. Hell he even supported Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton and he calls himself a Republican.

He needs to take his Purtian Nazist viewpoints to North Korea where he will be adored by many!

  • sounds like a nazi

  • big government needs to stop worrying about which freedoms they want to take away and fix the economy and end the iraq war.

  • lol you really think they are gonna stop taking away our freedoms?

  • ummm,im afraid not.

  • aww come on.... when has a republican let us down??? LOL

but for real i tihnk its sad we need a new leading party

  • i think both parts have their hands dirty in this,in pennsylvania it was mainly the democrats fighting for this.

  • yeah democrats are shit too

    maybe ron paul?

  • I like to take away freedom and raise taxes.

  • The smoking ban is One reason your ass didnt win the election

  • No, it stops on private property, huckabitch. If you don't like it, don't come onto my private property.

  • When I die of old age after smoking my last ciggarette, bury me face down so that pussies like Huckabee and the rest of the world can kiss my freedom loving veteran ass!

  • Agree with you completely. I can't begin to say how great it is that F***abee(may be harsh, but he definitely deserves to be called that, IMHO) wasn't chosen in the primaries to be the Republican nominee!

I'm also a non-smoker who is a libertarian, totally disagrees with antis on smoking ban laws, and believes in free choice on this issue.

  • Yep, theres a reason this guy bombed on super Tuesday.

  • "You can suck it until you die" Governor Huckabee.

I am a smoker, and I am repulsed by your desire to ban my ability to smoke in public.

Here's a thought: I am allergic to formaldehyde (in new carpeting), and infants' screaming and crying gives me migraines. So why don't we ban all new buildings from replacing their carpets when they get raggedy, and require infants to wear ball gags or duct tape on their mouths? Ludicrous, yes, but so is your public smoking ban.

  • Smokers are addicted to a legal drug. I am an ex-smoker and I can tell you how disgusting it is and it does affect all the people around you. Smokers only rebut because they are addicted to this powerful drug that makes them angry and irritable if they cannot have a smoke when their dopamine levels drop causing withdrawal. I feel for smokers because it's very hard to quit, but just because you have a drug problem does not mean that I have to share it with you.

  • Your just saying that because you don't smoke anymore. Or maybe I'm saying this because I do smoke. Well if I can be right or wrong so can you. And I don't get angry when i don't smoke. I get even.

  • Ironic, since all the smokers I know are in the freaking Green Party!

  • Precisely America land of the free- not with Nuckabee!

  • If I want to open a restaurant and try to attract smokers as the clientelle (banned everywhere else so it might be a logical business to try), I think I should be free to do that in America. Non-smokers have other places to dine.

The trouble is that it makes politicians feel righteous to vilify that minority, smokers.

  • 3000 people a month die in US highway accidents,,ban driving,,hey how about this one,,100% of people who live, die, WE MUST BAN LIFE!!!

    Mike you MORON

  • thats terrible logic.. murder and terrorism kills people too, are you saying they shouldn't be banned either?

  • I can't defend Huckabee on this one (and I have defended him).

  • i cant either. Just lost some respect for him.

  • What if a place has perfect ventilation? Fuck you pig huck. Try and come take my smokes and I will shoot you in the face.

  • Vote for Huckabee: Adultery will be a crime. Chastity belts mandatory until marriage. Blasphemy will get you ten lashes in the public square. Smoking will land you in jail for six months... I like it, Jesus Christ I love it.... damn it.... don't whip me bro....

Ron Paul 2008!!! LIVE FREE OR DIE!

  • Car exhaust fumes are more harmful to you than 2nd hand cigarette smoke. They need to ban all motor vehicles from public places. Also, they should ban all fat people from traveling on aircraft.

  • This is terrible. I wish more people knew his thoughts on this.

I have allergies to pollen, but I am not pushing the destruction of ragweed plants, and yes, it is THAT bad of an allergy.

It is a property rights issue, if a bar or restraunt or other business wants to allow it, do not go there if you do not like it. That is your choice.

This is where our current tyranny has taken us.

  • Ban drinking, ban smoking, ban fat people, ban fat in food, ban guns, ban not wearing a helmet, damn kids! Don't you see what this is! This isn't about health it is about CONTROL. Grow a pair and get on with things.

  • As one allergic to 2nd hand smoke, I agree with a public ban. Smoke in your own home, car, out taking a stroll, fine, of course. I smoked cigarettes for over TEN YEARS, at times 2 packs a day, so I understand the addiction/habit. However there came a day after sick for months from smoking, I decided this addiction would no longer control ME & I quit! No drawn out withdrawal or going back to the habit since.

  • R's are so conditioned to ridicule and rant that they have no time or resources for observation or thought.

  • Bars, restaurants, night clubs are all work places.

  • Did you read on how 31 MILLION Americans suffer every year, ongoing, with sinus infections and the like? Why I certainly do not attribute that to being 100 percent to smoking affects, it is something to consider. And as a consumer, I will avoid places without nonsmoking sections.

  • >>I will avoid places without nonsmoking sections.

As well you should. I should be able to avoid places without smoking sections. Yeah for democracy! Who shall we go after next? People with kids seems to be popular; how about banning kids from planes. I read that 62 MILLION Americans suffer every year.. Let's just put it to a vote.

  • Second-hand smoke is a health hazard and I don't need a study to prove it. Cigarette smokers are inconsiderate of others and I don't need a study to prove that either. Ban smoking at work.

  • Jeez, you scare me. You should be careful painting with that wide brush.

  • Yes at working. In total agreement. NOT IN BARS

  • "irrefutable" BS. The whole basis for this belief is a meta-study pimped by the Surgeon General. They took a bunch of studies that were not statistically significant, pooled the results, changed the p value, and lookie - it's magic. Junk science is the new black.

  • I guess we all need to carry oxygen tanks and face masks while walking outside with all the motor vehicle exhaust. How have I lived this long with all the irrefutable evidence about the toxicity of exhaust fumes? You have the right to drive your car in your own garage until you die, but don't drive it down my street!

  • When a politician says "irrefutable," run for the hills, you're about to loss freedom in exchange for votes.

  • how did you equate that to a common sense health & 2nd hand smoke issue?

  • The basis for this, and all bans, is "irrefutable" evidence of causation.

  • I can see your point, really. It starts at the lower level "for your own good" then later becomes something else, and that is why alarming. Better to "push" companies to issue their own inhouse policies to ban smoking inside work (i.e., at the consumer level) -- thats for the rethink on that.

  • Exactly. Going to far, ignoring alternative options, and pushing ahead with a radical plan based on shady science (sometimes, not always). There's a good book on this, "the new temperance", check it out.

  • Is this guy for real? There is no evidence that passive smoke causes any ill health. Has he read any of the research done on this? Pure verbal ASH propaganda c**p.

  • im sorry .. you can check my medical records to prove there IS! just talk to those who were smokers or around heavy 2nd hand smoke and are ill from it -- its not crap

however i do think to enforce it on the small businesses is uncalled for

  • If I own a business and wish to allow smoking within the walls of my business, leave me the heck alone! I disappointed as Mr. Huckabee could have been in contention for my vote, but a true conservative would understand the importance of liberty and freedom from government interference in private enterprise.

  • "...you can suck it till you die..."

Truer words were never spoken. Wait, was he talking about smoking or about his presidential bid?

  • I agree and I think this philosophy should be extended to marijuana as well.

  • How many people have died from second-hand smoke? Does anyone have stats on this? Or stats from peer-reviewed research on the actual (not theoretical) complications from second-hand smoke? Just curious. I needed this for a presentation.

  • None

  • out of context...

"you can suck it til you die, but you can't blow it on me"

    heh heh

  • You are responsible for the externalities of your action. If you leave oil spilled and a dog licks it up and dies, you are responsible.

Huckabee gets that this is a public health issue. You don't have the right to create an environment that is anti-thetical to my health and life.

  • Fair enough...then do not drive your car on the street because you'll be killing me.
