I am new to watching Supernatural and I bought all the DVD's and downloaded most of the clips that aren't on DVD and I will tell you that in my opinion Dean really is in love with Jo, but he knows that in his work he can't have a girlfriend much less one that is also a hunter tagging along with him it would only slow him to worry about her. So I don't think anything was platonic I think it was sincere.. :) yes I wanted them together too!
