  • good stuff man.. :)

  • can i use it even i don't know shit about mixing, how hard is to master it?

  • @TheBOZORUS Use what? The Electribes are pretty simple to learn and use, I'd definitely recommend them for beginners.

  • @vegeta897 which one is the best to start with? which one is the simplest from the electribe?

  • @TheBOZORUS The ER1 is probably simplest. But keep in mind, it's just a drum machine, so you can't really add any proper melodies or basslines, but you can get very creative with the drum synthesis. The ER1 was my first.

  • @vegeta897 thanks a lot

  • wow man, well done!

  • tooo vegeta ,popapri!!! jebena stvar svaka cast

  • awesome :D

  • You really did a great job with this man. BIG UP!!!!

  • hell yeahhh

  • Cool, I have that same Behringer 802 mixer, lol.

  • Wow, actually quite impressive. Nice work :)

  • Have you learnt the next part of the song yet?- I was waiting for it!

  • Korg EA-1 mkii and ER-1 mkii, mixed by a Behringer Xenyx802 and recorded on my computer with Goldwave.

  • what are you using here??

  • Nice work!!

  • Awesome, just awesome!

  • holy shit, you killed it bro

  • heh, 6:06 seconds.

  • @BassdrumBlaster Yes it is indeed.

  • @vegeta897

Roland TR-606 reference aside, this is a pretty good track.

    Now, I wanna grab myself a Electribe : D

  • @BassdrumBlaster Do it!

  • So, Why do you use a mixer with your electribes?

  • @fivefoflow

    Why do you think?

  • Comment removed

  • hey,i like your sound.i also use the electribe and other analogue equipment at my home studio.check out my channel, there are two new songs only made with analogue stuff...

  • now that is nice, too bad I'm not self employed yet

  • nice work man! I'm always very careful with watching rdj covers, because most of the time they suck very very bad and make me hate my ass off :) but this really makes me smile, one of my analord favorites interpreted in a right way, props...

  • dual weilding electribe = bad ass shiiiit

  • im showing this at a party right now. i loooove it

  • @stephenpaultaylor

Wow, cool! Let me know how it goes.

  • @vegeta897 they loved it, dude. im giving it a second whirl. lets collab sometime

  • awesome dude

  • add me to the ranks of people who think this is better than the original/have come back to watch this a million times

  • better then the real afx version, i think

  • This is amazing. A friend sent it to me on facebook... wow... just, wow...

  • Really awesome dude =) I like your version more then RDJ original, really =)

  • I honestly can't remember if I've commented on this before, but this really kicks ass, man. I've been back to this page COUNTLESS times to listen to this and I have to say, I'm really starting to prefer it over Richard's original. No disrespect to him, and the original's still an amazing track, but I love your cover. It's deliciously epic. :D

  • @Ganjacide

Thank you! I'm dumbfounded by the amount of people saying they enjoy this more than the original. I really put no thought into how to best recreate it; the drum machine pattern was just something I made before I even programmed the synth lines into the EA1, and I randomly decided to use it for this jam. I guess it was all luck!

  • @vegeta897 Well, I'm glad you decided to do that, because you've got yourself a masterpiece here. I'd buy the song if copyright issues weren't a problem, lol, although I can say with a bit of confidence that even Richard would have to be impressed.

  • @vegeta897

Its a great cover dude, lucky or not, dispite being a tad slow!

  • @vegeta897 why haven't you uploaded anything in so long? i'd love to hear more of your stuff, do you have any releases?

  • @p3on

Just haven't felt the necessary amount of inspiration to make any more videos. I have made a few tracks on the PC but I don't feel like posting those as videos, or sharing them on any site like soundcloud.

I appreciate your kind words and I'm glad I could bring you some musical enjoyment!

  • Is it just me, or does the EMX look green in some lights?

  • @Argiflex That's not an EMX. Even if you were colorblind, you should be able to tell that it isn't one :p

  • @vegeta897 Ahh, my bad! I just thought that the ESX and EMX were the only solid coloured ones (save for the EM-1). Plus, the synthamasizer database I use is vintagesynth, and they left the MKIIs out of their database!

    So, honest mistake?

  • Great

  • pretty awesome, i'm envious

  • how did you make the more static of the two sounds? the one has a really long melodic line.

  • man just wasnt born with enoght arms an hands lol , id like to have a few more , but then ijust want more stuff too then lol

  • Would it be too much to ask for you to send me a recording of this? I'm going camping next weekend and I want something cool to show off to my friends.

  • YOU ARE GREAT!

    This is really Awesome!

    Greetings from Chile.

  • Dude, this is really awesome. I wanna see more covers like this! Awesome work..

  • very nicely done cover :D

  • You have talent :D

  • Get Paid Today

  • great stuff, was really hoping you would play the other lines though

  • This is the greatest video ever. I love Japan and I love Aphex Twin.

  • Wow, thanks!

  • @vegeta897

I love Japan a lot. A whole lot. My mom can never find out about my moe.

  • this is sweet ... i love it :D

  • Thank you!

  • Comment removed

  • Could you be more specific? I'd like to know what exactly you think is rubbish.

  • @vegeta897

    Its too slow!

    Nice try anyways! gj

  • It's hard to know what you mean by "fat" sounds, and I'm not sure how fat I can get my sounds when I'm working with cheap digital equipment. Which I prefer, by the way. Also, there isn't any LFO or any kind of automatic modulation other than my live tweaking, which is one of the main elements of the performance. I'm not just going to change the way I jam. I do these videos because I enjoy doing it. I was utterly shocked and surprised at how many people enjoyed watching.

  • @vegeta897 actually fat is a universal music education term, so it's not very broad to figure out what someone means by a fat sound

  • @MrBrandonPeoples I know what 'a fat sound' means, but it's still a broad term and not very helpful in the context of his comment to explain to me what he didn't like.

  • @vegeta897 fat is not a broad term

  • @MrBrandonPeoples Its crunchy fat? digital , noy gooey phat like the origional. And i like this one more. And im an analog snob.

  • Uh... and just who the fuck are you to pass judgments on what this person does or doesn't do with his music, and tell him what changes he should make in order to, what, satisfy *you?* The guy enjoys making music with his equipment. THAT is what he's sharing here on YouTube. If his track aren't phat enough for you then it's your right to have that opinion. But that's the extent of it.

  • you did really good job, thumbs up! especially in beginning, but u f'd it up from about midway to the end with too many knob tweaks good stuff though, keep it goin!

  • @TheCertainperson You do a better cover of this track then...

  • very good, except you're wearing your watch on the wrong wrist

  • Seriously good work man Respect, me and a friend harakiri are working on a cover of this on an Alesis micron,Roland mc09 and a Korg padkontrol, you ever listened to any wisp? i reckon you could do a badass cover of Negions Fail another we are working on ^^

  • Comment removed

  • Nice. The only way i could do something like this is using my ESX and taking a sample from the actual song lol. Ever try playing the melody to this tune backwards?

  • dang sounds awesome. i like the way you ended it too.

  • dude this is awesome, btw howd you get the shirt

  • are you using the delay in the electribe to get that stuttery roll?

  • That's right.

  • Very cool remix!

  • hey do you have them midi sync'd from "external" and it still goes out of sync?

  • I'm talking about audio/video sync, not the machines themselves.

  • Good stuff dude. Loving those synth sounds, half tempted to have a crack myself if i could afford the gear. Anyways, keep it up.

  • Good job!

  • lovely

  • Hey! Good job. I actually have that same shirt! ebay, right? So I'm gonna be posting a track inspired by [Untitled] from "Surfing on Sine Waves" You should check it out in the next couple of days. You should try covering "Arched Maid via RDJ" might need a keyboard for it tho. :D Nice work RDJ ftw!

  • Only watched the first 1.20 and loved it. Keep it up. Sorry I have ADD.

    And im an Aphex lunatic.

  • Love the drum flams on the ER!

  • next reunion!

  • I have the same two synths and I am madly in love with this track, but the drums sound like shit.... The EA parts sound spot-on. Nice work

  • Why do you think they sound like shit? You do know I wasn't trying to recreate anything besides the two synth lines from the track.

  • Stop what?

  • my comment didnt send but it was pretty much me saying you're awesome and id like to buy your records, have you released any?

  • Good work men!!

  • Dude,

Thats impressive bro, and this is one of my favorite tracks!

    What equipment are you using?

  • Thanks man!

In this vid I use Korg ER1 mkII and EA1 mkII with Behringer Xenyx 802 mixer.

Check the description next time :)

  • sorry man

  • Good work man, it's my favourite track from the Analord series and you've done it justice.

  • pretty awesome

  • Nice cover jam man

The only thing the audio needs is to be a bit compressed, but other than that, it's pretty awesome.

    Cheers

  • Nice! Imma go and try one out in sonar, not quite the same, but hey :)

  • Really nice cover! I love it but sorry not better than the orginal. It's hard to beat the Legend. Long Live RDJ

  • I disagree. It takes the original and adds something of substance, particularly in terms of technique. Glorifying RDJ shouldn't prevent the modification of his original work . As this cover has shown, there is still considerable room for innovation.

  • if you want an mp3, just use a youtube to mp3 converter. they're free and you just have to type the video URL into a box and you get the mp3 in selectable quality up to like 1,000 kbps. of course, you won't be able to upscale a relatively low bitrate anyway, but it'll be slightly sharper than a 128 kbps, etc.

  • brilliant

  • this fu£$in ace man! keep it up!

  • Cover Jam. Bloody brilliant!

  • From a massive aphex fan, my thanks and praise to you. Expert knob twiddling sir.

  • I just picked up an Electribe SX. I have no idea what i'm doing with it other than the drum machine. Im still having difficulty sampling audio input devices

  • i really enjoyed that.

  • I liek the original more than this, but this is proably the best cover of it that could be done.

    Great Job!

I think I enjoy the original version for it's dynamic, flexible, liquid, and natural sound.

This version is much more consistent.

  • Agreed, it's just a cover jam, I really wasn't trying to make a better song or make a song at all, I just wanted to play with those synth lines. That's why I was so surprised at how many people liked this more than the actual song...

  • Cover jam is a good way to put it.

You add stuff over time as it progresses which makes it awesome.

For a jam song, this is choice.

    Awesome job on it, peace.

  • Wow!

  • HEY this is awesome!!!

  • very good, like everyone says, its better than the original in a lot of ways... keep it up man

and this just goes to show how powerful the electribes truly are

  • I can't believe I'm saying this...but, I like this version of "I'm Self Employed" more...mainly cause of the variation in beat, the bass and everything in general. If you could make this a full fledged song, that would be amazing!

  • love it.

  • Bravo man. very clean

  • That's awesome. 5'd.

  • What's all the equipment you're using there? Want to learn how to be cool.

  • EA1 ER1and a cheap Behringer mixer.

Being cool is more than the equipment you have, ha.

  • man that electribes have a good sound

  • oh you have the aphex twin thingy on your t shirt

heehehee! keep that up man it sounds pretty friggen good!

  • really nice job. the bass drums a bit loud tho, the sound of the synths was really accurate !

  • Great job man

  • one of my fav AFX tunes.

    nice tee btw

    big up

    ez

  • i want that afx tee :D

  • wow man thats awesome...

  • sick tune man, sick!

  • Thanks!

  • damn this owns yo, i kinda like it better than the original

  • Amazing man!! Fair play!!! Hats off !!!

  • Six effing stars!

  • pretty cool man , wide arc swing

  • Great cover, very groovy imo.The synth part that kicks in at 00:31 does it come the EA or the ER?

  • That's the EA.

    Thanks for watching!

  • dope, by fans for fans

  • great work!!!

  • the beats more varied than the original which is good. would be really cool if you did the next section too

  • nice job, in my oppinoin better then the original.

check out a band called Plaid...albums like::: greedy baby,Spokes,Tekkon kinkreet, double figure.

also a band called Autechre....album name : Amber

    these bands rocked my world

  • hahah dude i'm so fucking stoked on this! such a good job dude.

  • Thanks, I appreciate it :)

  • nice stuff man, really nice

  • I want your T Shirt.

  • nice t-shirt, mate.

  • This is about 20 patterns of information. The song has more. Sounds cool, maybe cheezed out a bit on the right-most electribe but... it's cool. I'm happy to hear it, good job.

  • Thanks!

I don't know what you mean by 20 patterns of information. This is one 4 bar pattern on each machine.

It's a for-fun cover jam, not a planned out or faithful remake.

  • Just wondering, where and for how much did you get all your equipment like your synths and stuff.

  • Great job! it's uncanny how close it sounds to Richard's synths. Although it doesn't have all the tracks in the actual song, yours is actually a pretty cool remix in its own right, given all the knob twiddling you're doing. Thanks for sharing.

  • Thanks for commenting!

  • this is quite good. i wonder if RDJ has the EMX. You've done an awesome job emulating his sounds.

  • Thank you!

  • i used to have that same shirt

    ebay?

    nice mixing

  • Warp mart.

And thanks. What I'm doing is not mixing, though. But if that's what you want to call it.

  • yes it's not mixing sorry i wrote the comment pretty fast lol

do you make music on your computer as well or just gear?

  • Yeah I make some on the computer, you can hear most of my good stuff in my MS Paint Pixel Art Timelapse video.

  • oh nice

i see you use reason 4 and you also have a DA page (i faved your groovebox pixel art)

i use reason 3, you should remix one of my tracks ;)

  • 10+

  • There's only one mixer! Heh. Whatever you say.

  • i luv u

  • your pro

  • wow great job. I have that shirt too. I didn't realize at the time though that the dollar is worth 1/2 a pound :(

don't be ashamed of you aphex obsession!

  • Hey sounds pretty good! I love that song btw

  • Because I did a cover jam...? I'm failing to see how I'm obsessed. I haven't even listened to an AFX song in weeks. I'm more into other artists now.

  • slightly obsessed arent we

  • Obsessed with what?

  • whats wrong with being obsessed with afx??? pretty much the best music to be obsessed with.

  • don't get to high on my comment but I think this cover actually sounds better then the original. But then again; I don't like this track that much.

  • awsome, love it!!

  • Love it!!!

Probably my favorite Aphex track, well done!

  • sau geil!!!"!

    Realy nice

  • good job mate. emx is next on my wish list.

  • Dude, I'm not digging the electribes. You covered it well, but it sounds kind of awkward.

  • I do the best with what I have.

  • good remix...:-$

  • nice goin

  • ever think of daft punk or justice??
