Driving through Bridgend

This is how I remember Bridgend as it was when I left in 1990. Planning madness has turned the place into a ghost town. When I worked on the Glamorgan Gazette in the 70s the town had real friendly feel to the centre. When I walked through it on return last year there was nothing, no life no feeling. If anyone wants to know how to tear the guts out of a town, take a trip to Bridgend. What a terrible shame.

I hardly recognise my hometown... although I am 21 so I would only have been 2 when you filmed this. When did it all start changing? I dont mean for it to be pedestrianised, but when did the job center get built and the train bridge road change.... dont ever remember it looking like that.

@BlueShlemon Hi, it seems to me that the changing of Bridgend from a nice traditiional town to what we have today started when the old bus station was demolished and pedesrianization of the town commenced and it's been going downhill since then, it's hard for me to believe that this was filmed nearly 20years ago. it was an amazing place to grow up, and i'm talking less than a decade ago. shame theres so many kids hanging around the streets taking drugs and carrying knives. you walk around town and see twelve year olds pregnant and swigging special vat, its sick.

I just live in Bridgend for 2 years, and it's amazing how the town has changed since that video.

The embassy bridge and the rail bridge don't exist anymore. Everything between those is traffic free now. Rush hours must have been a nightmare at these times.

That's an improvement to me. Could everyone who states that BCBC screwed up the place, please enlighten me what they did wrong?
