Thanks for this fantastic clip of a video reel transfer to umatic and VHS,wow. Amazing Ampex 5100 machine, is a beaut. I actually have two Ampex video reels type 161-60, these are both in great shape, and came from a university av department and are supposed to contain some early tv video recording experiments students were comitting with the then new hardware.NTSC transfer needed !

I remember reading somewhere that Ampex made a consumer VTR/TV combo in the early 60's that was supposed to be sold in the Neiman-Marcus catalog.
