I'm always amazed at the condition of some of these 78s. The ones in our household were always well played and generally scratched up - if they didn't get dropped on the floor.

@jammany2k for what u can tell how much devotion he has to the record.. u would be a lazy tripod idiot to leave the record alome while recording and come back u cus u dont care about the record...this is a rarity be happy loser..

In fact, Ralph Peer is responsible for the popularity of Mamie Smith and other black jazz performers from New Orleans. He is the one who brought it to the black market. She was the first million seller of the music genre.

I've played your videos and love them. Also love the Dansette record player. I had one when I lived in UK.
