  • I'm always amazed at the condition of some of these 78s. The ones in our household were always well played and generally scratched up - if they didn't get dropped on the floor.

  • In fact, Ralph Peer is responsible for the popularity of Mamie Smith and other black jazz performers from New Orleans. He is the one who brought it to the black market. She was the first million seller of the music genre.
