im confused... i thought that you could have gotten an O from the person with A blood but the person with AB blood could only give you an A or a B ... and you would then have to be an A or a B... I am type A.. i got it from my mother but all my siblings are type O and so is my father... so my mother must be AO as am I ... so can you be ABO ... ???

@Susan121212 No, O is the recessive gene. You can only be type O if you are recessive dominant for it. A and B are both dominant over O so O will not show up in the presence of A or B but neither is more dominant over the other so you get a co-dominance that results in type AB.

O blood is good because it can be donated to people with A B and AB as well as O... O negative blood can be donated to anyone... O positive blood can be donated to anyone with positive blood...

Negative means that you dont have the RH factor (RH -)

Positive means that you have the RH factor.

The RH factor was discovered in a monkey named Rhesus. Nobody knows why people have or dont have that factor, aparently its useless. But it may be dangerous on labor if the child is RH+ and the mother RH-, because her antibodys may attack the baby's blood causing fetal erythroblastosis. This problem can be avoided though.

Positive comes from apes so that is why they think we avolved from the ape family but with Negitive they don't know. No one knows where they came from. Some people even think that the Negative blood comes from aliens! Strange huh? About 85% of the world have Positive and 15% have Negative.
