Actually, Neil Peart sucks...lol if i can substitute his acoustic drum section with the normal ones i can play all his pieces. He just seems good cuz he over exaggerates. This guy could actually be a better drummer, musically, not rudimentally.

maybe other drummers are better (I don't think that's correct there maybe faster and they just to much double bass) but non of them can play so much cool and different rithmes on a basic drum and keep cool beats. I respect all drummers but Assaf is the best in keeping cool beats.

What I can do is beside the point, what he's doing isn't that hard, he'd be the first to tell you. What Assaf does is flashy and easy to understand, which is why so many think hes amazing.

There are plenty of amateurs on Youtube better than this guy. I've saved a few to my favorites, see for yourself.

Is he a better drummer than most drummers? Yes. Is he a good showman? Easily one of the best I've ever seen.

But does he have world-class DRUMMING skill? Not by a long shot. Look at Donati, Colauita, Weckl, Lang, DiCenso, Mangini, Smith, Erskine, Chambers, Greb, Mayer, Minnemann...

Assaf Seewi, while fun to watch, doesn't even begin to compare.

Don't get me wrong- I have a lot of respect for Assaf. He played the game smart. He saw an untapped niche to be filled and cornered the market. He's gotten tremendous exposure doing innovative, fun things that don't take that much skill, but DO take a lot of intelligence to make a "style" of it. He's a perfect example of implementing the old saying: work smarter, not harder.

Juggling sticks while playing, while tricky, may take a few weeks to get down. Mastering an instrument takes decades.

Let's see Assaf fit in with a big band. Or play a burning samba.. or sight read a snare solo. Or play a blast beat for 3 minutes, or solo in an odd time. How versatile is this guy really?

He is good (at best). And I have nothing against him at all, in fact I aspire to emulate him in a way (by cleverly developing a style that easily appeals to non-drummers)

He's awesome, but this clip is editted; just after he gets the crowd clapping, watch the dude in the back of the shot, he teleports about half a foot to one side. I wonder why... They showed blatant transitions between his playing at other parts of the vid, why glue it together?
