The first solo was George's ... a typically simple, tasteful slide melody without a trace of ostentation. The playout is Eric. I just wish that the Clapton detractors, who wheel out names like Stevie Ray, Johnny Winter, Peter Green etc etc and bray about how much better they are than EC, could listen to this exquisite piece of work at the end of this wonderful song and then reconsider their statements. Clapton never claimed to be 'God' - he just played guitar from his heart, as he does today.
People, calm down. I am sure that BrosByte knows the sound of George Harrison versus Eric Clapton. We all know...OK. Just chill out and enjoy the music.
George's music brings his presence back, it's like he's still with us and came here to stay. He now may be writing new tunes in someplace else. Oooh, that's what it takes...
Top tune aided with the skills of Jeff Lynne (who is a god) Brilliant album/CD, unlike the 'bro shit in the charts these days where drug taking, knife stabbing, gun shooting pricks slag of life, their whores and ponce off society...I feel better now and have had my 8 seconds of fame. When's the new album out Jeff?
I can relate to this song quite a bit with my former best friend when she decided to stop being friends with me...like George says before you do something "The closer I get to that open door, I gotta be sure, if that's what it takes
Excellent. Never get tired of this song!

Produced with Jeff Lynne ? Anyway...first solo by Georg, the final solo Eric. There's no doubt at all !

It's George on the solo overdubbing 2 electrics, Clapper at the end. Magic.

Great song, very ELOish, but Jeff did produce it.

@ Stereobarf Eric Clapton played the guitar solo, not George, though it does
sound like what George would play.
yourimageunreels 1 year ago
@yourimageunreels
No way, it's clearly Harrison. Clapton only played a couple lead parts on the album, and this ain't one of them.

@yourimageunreels
I take it back, the solo at the end does sound like Clapton.

Clapton appears on the song...the song is produced by Jeff Lynne. Much more of a heavy Lynne influence than a Clapton influence.

Jeff Lynne's emergence is so evident in the overall sound of this album compared to the previous few from George. Just fantastic. I love Cloud Nine.

George's solo is typically tasteful, memorable and distinctive; I find Clapton's to be typically workmanlike - just blues solo boxes.

This is pretty 80's sounding, but with George singing, it is great.
