  • Great version - never heard this one before. Nice to hear at least some of the nuances of the playing and the production with the vocals coming out front and centre.

One prob - if my memory isn't playing tricks on me, this upload is probably running about 15bpm faster than the original, so it's very compressed, it's way too fast - we need to hear the space, right? That's what the Funk Bros were all about . . .

  • Hey this is great, a dub version, I'm singin along here :D Check out the Midwich Cukoos version on myspace btw :D

  • Cracking drum sound on this record.

Does anyone know what the actual line up was on this one?

  • Amazing really, these Guys played on so many brilliant records yet they are almost unknown.

Sometimes they were making 2 a day, incredible.

    Wonderful sound.

  • BLOODY TOP NOTCH

  • Theres a goat in my house?

  • @coptersoisoi yes mate.

  • @coptersoisoi yes, it's the same song. the original is by r. dean taylor from 1966, there's probably a link to it on the right.

  • Great drum sound too.........

  • Anyone know who is playing that funky guitar lick?

  • Eddie Willis

  • @pjpj311

  • Ever since watching 'Standing In The Shadows Of Motown' I can't listen to the singers no more. I'm forever picking out the different Funk Brothers and which song is definitely a 'Funk Bros' track - is anyone else like this ?

You just gotta admire the genius of these guys its opened up a whole new world for me, just listening and enjoying a particular instrument and how well its played rather than listening to the singer and the song...

  • I most certainly am, and I been playing Motown since first time around!

  • Great sound......

  • BRILL.

  • Neat.
