glad to hear they got you for more news prdouctions! Also I'm sure senior citizens are happy they get you to teach them! I also like the frozen peas part, I think when people had to support themselves, it made people learn more and have more motivation, you should be proud that you were raised very well cause you're one in a million! The children are so cute and I'm sure they got a real kick out of seeing the pictures, that's sweet of you!
Geriatric 1927. My son introduced me to your videos and I think they are just wonderful. I was born in 1922 and lived the same type life as you in my youth. .Barefoot 1922
Granddad, If I lived close by, I would come and cook for you. Nothing makes me happier:) I used to do that back home in SA. I love and respect the elderly. especially YOU!
I hope you will not take this the wrong way, I love your videos, but I have found that you remind me of my grandfather, and listening to your videos before bed really helps me get off to sleep, I dont find you boring in the slightest, dont get me wrong, but it is relaxing to listen to you when I get in from a hard night of work and my head is buzzing. Dear Peter, I just learned of you tonight; heard of you on VH1. I immediately logged on to youtube to find you. In addition to this I've so far watched your very 1st video - # 6. Tommorrow I will watch # 7 - ?. and will listen every day until I get to current. I'm hooked :) I hope you plan to write a book/a movie of your life. Very interesting and cool stuff so far. XXXX love from New Jersey, US
Peter, I myself am studying Gerontolgoy at the University of Heidelberg. You are a marvellous person and an idle for all geriatrics. I might right a term paper about the possibilities of youtube for the elderly. During my studies I have seen so many old people isolating themselves away from society and just waiting to die because they don't feel a part of society anymore. you should try and get some program going to encorage more geriatrics to use the internet and all its opportunities.
Yes, Peter - foods in season. And I'm sure most of us
in our generation remembers the orange at the bottom of
the Christmas stocking. As for microwaving - - take a bit of advice from a youngster (you have 3 years on me), and start with a low setting - 3 minutes or so.
If they aren't done, try another...and another. Soon you'll hit the right number, and can stick with it from there on. Easy! I am also a microwaver! And remember
my god....there is ALWAYS an orange in my stocking! You can always tell. Even now I'm 21 and live away from my parents but I go visit them every christmas and....christmas 2006 I went to see my mom and BLASTED orange in the bottom of my stocking! It was very nice I eat alot of oranges and other fruits so it was wonderful that she still carries that on
Well, Sir Peter, since you live out in the country, I'd really love to know how you get YouTube going there. I've been resigned to dial up, and can't watch or upload videos, now that I'm in the country with Mom. I'll hate not having my little minutes of you "prattling" about something. Best Regards, tanya
I have bad dreams about "peas", my mom forcing me to sit in front of my plate long after dinner was over, trying to out-wait her patience. I was hell-bent on out witting her nutrition punishment. Often sticking them in my pocket, or sneaking them into the trash can silently, To this day peas are my nemisis, you could say they give me the chills and flash-backs. Wow, we can't escape t6hose childhood memories, both good and bad!
I feel the same way about carrots. My dad insisted I eat them and the more I said no, the madder he got. Food, in all it's forms (taste smell sight etc) is probably a big part of anyone's memories, good and bad. But even today, I can't stand carrots.
Mr.geriatric you are one of the most well spoken quick witted aged people I know, noone could steal your watch and give it to you as a present because you would remeber:D you are a marvel of your generation awesome representation from a time we only can imagine.
ello Peter, I know you don't like being told what to do, but if you put a handfull of frozen peas in a little pot and microwave them for two minutes they should be just right, just press autostart twice. If yours is a low power version they might need a minute longer... ps I watch all your videos but have never thought of any advice for you before haha keep rockin
i just thought i would pop in to share that my grandmother also puts oranges in the bottom of our christmas stockings. 27 oranges for 27 stockings. every year without fail.
i just wanted to pop in and share with you that my grandmother also likes to put an orange in the bottom of our christmas stockings. 27 oranges for 27 stockings. every christmas forever and ever.
its so interesting to hear how things were for you years ago. my nana is a similar age to you and i remember the story about the orange at the bottom of the stocking too!! Also good to hear about all the stuff i didnt know.
Hello Peter. First comment but I was introduced to your videos quite early on and have only just got around to signing up.
I greatly appreciate your work. It's so good to see how the real you has become so clear to us, the goodness of your heart shining through and that's what helps so many. I am often reduced to tears as I know you are by the comments coming from those who respond so openly to your presence. Robert
Hello Peter, being new to YouTube I've only just discovered your channel and I love it! I see that your up to part 46 now, well I don't know how I'm going to catch up but I will certainly enjoy it! Good luck with all the other work you have to do and I look forward to hearing all about it in your coming videos! Cheers from Minnesota USA. :D
Ah, it's amazing how you can make heating frozen dinners in the microwave such a refreshing story-time subject.
I know you're busy these days. That's O.K. I'm glad we can still enjoy your videos once in a while. Sometimes I get a lot of amusement reading other comments while I'm waiting for your next blog.
When you think of your past, do you have an age that exists as your "mental reset" age. Kind of like the way a person may think of home. Despite the fact that I lived in several different cities as a youth, I still tend to think of one (Walla Walla, Washington)over the others as "home" or the place I'm from. Similarly, I've been different ages, yet often seem to nostalgically drift back into the times when I was 14.
Thanks for your reply. I concede your point. The tin bath and lino made you working class. I must have been middle class as I always lived in houses with proper bathrooms. I stopped using the Youtube letter system, as it became obvious that they were not getting through.
As a kid, I got quite a few snacks from plants and trees. I feel that a lot of it has to do w/the class you grew up in. My sister still has her kids pick items from the garden for meals. I strongly feel that it's an important lesson. It helps you to respect the land and what has been given to you rather than focus on that which is not available. My dad is only 66, but I want him to start filming some stuff. The younger generation is losing the art of story-telling, but it looks as if you haven't
Hey there! I was flicking through my channels on the TV this morning at 5 AM and I came across the "sound of your voice" music video. It was pretty weird seeing it on TV. I seen it on channel 36 which is MuchMoreMusic here in Ontario, Canada.
hello how r u! ur videos r wonderful! such an inspiration! i always tune into ur videos! they make me smile and keep me thru the day! do u have worther originals in ur house@! i love cooking 2 there r sumdays i just have an urge! lol! keep up the videos!!!!
I'm so glad to have stumbled on your site! My father, who was also an old Englishman, passed away many years ago now. He also was a bit of a recluse, but I remember his exhilaration when he discovered the internet. How very brave of you to put yourself out there for the whole world to see. I'm so happy for you to have made so many new friends. Keep it up.
I do care a great deal about you Peter...I'll have to refresh your latest video on another day as it has stalled on me for the last 4 attempts at one minute and thirty six seconds.
I love you old dude!! Please live forever when people like you pass away the world is gonna turn to shit and be run by total wankers =[
p.s. You look really young for your age dude! how do u keep healthy and fit?! lol
Oh yeh, did you fight in WW2??! I'm really interested in military history and find it fascinating could u send to my name any video blogs u have about your experiences. Thanks Peter! We love u!
Hello Peter. I've just found your videos by mistake, but I have thoughrly enojoyed them all :D You are so knowledgeable and wise. Thanks for sharing your amazing life!
Peter could you please send a shout out to my mother Florence some time, she is 75 and enjoys your videos, she is also a widow, or is it widower, I can never remember.
I think you hit the nail on the head there, these days it seems to be all about what we all want rather than what we all need. Take care. (great vid btw).
Raw chestnuts would surely be disgusting - hairy and acidic! My old Dad swore by raw food, had salad every day until his teeth couldn't cope any more, and managed to stay fit until he lost his energy and died at 91.
I miss you already! My father cannot communicate, he's a screamer and a bully when he doesn't get his way. I understand that you are not perfect but you are so wise, thoughtful, kind and seem so honorable. It's nice to know that there are people like you in this world. God Bless you!
It is such a pleasure to see the profound impact you are having on people all over the world. I'm sure it's a bit daunting as well, but you are doing such GOOD works, Peter. Thanks again kind Sir!
Wow! So much to think of! I remember carrots that I pulled out of my garden. I would rub them clean on the grass and eat them right in the garden. Never tasted carrots that good again. I liked the term "Silver surfing"- very clever! Also I wonder if in some ways, living by what one needs rather than what one wants, would serve us all better. Less gread, jellousy and more humility is desperatley needed today I beleive!!! Thank you Peter, as always you are very wise. Happy Day! T
it's always interesting when you say how you managed to go on with your life and how you cope through more than one generation.. that's amazing really
enjoy your other duties Peter, but don't leave here plz
love watching your vid Peter ... congratulations on your new project ... it is a good thing to have any generation informed with the internet technology.
Hi! First time viewer! I have to say, what you experienced when eating those peas is a very common event, I think. I often eat something, like a fig newton or something like that, that brings me right back to when I was a kid. I really enjoy those moments :)
Peter, you are an example to us all. I remember having my stockings filled with nuts and tangerines in the 1960's, but we had other gifts as well. i always felt a bit disappointed when we no longer got them from Santa lol. How did you view the hunger marchers in the 30's? Do you remember that, or were you too young?
Good video as always. In Japan they talk about the old as "silver" They call the middle aged "middies". They had this travel deal and advertised it as "nice middies"!
Just a little tip Peter, apparently you don't need much water to cook peaas in the microwave, but just a splash of water on them and then somethin over the top to stop the water all evapourating ( cling flim works if you prick a few holes in it but is a pain to get it off the container )
First of all peter I just want to thank you for you vlogs, they are wonderful. I love how you can't quite manage to cook your peas in the microwave, but you can make/edit and post videos onto the internet...Brilliant! Good luck with all your new projects!
Love your talks Peter.I love history and enjoy so much your recollection of events that you have experienced. If you want to thrill those little angels whose pictures you have on your wall, send them a personal video and call them by name. The most beautiful name is always your own.
Peter, you were middle class, as your father was a shopkeeper.I bet you had a car and even carpets on the floor. As working class, we had Lino on the floors, and no car. It's along time ago now, and thank god it's very different now.
I am glad that you have decided to do some television. Nothing wrong with taking advantage of your fame...the thing that seperates you from people like Renetto,Boscheme and the like is that you didnt come on YouTube to be famous and make money..they did. Good luck in all your future endeavors..remember us ole YouTubers when you get internationally famous. Take care Peter.
I have to tell you this. did you know that you have more subscribers than the Renetto? Do you ever wonder why so many people are interested in what you have to say? I think its because this generation has lost touch with the older generation. Its sad really.
You should try ordering some fish or some meat online and then some bread to make sandwiches. I do that quite often. The meats come packed with dry ice. You can order seabass and the likes. Delicious really.
Hello, if you use a microwave to cook. Try putting a little water in the tray before putting it into the mircowave. It works in two ways it stops the food from drying out, and it cooks the food faster. Just be careful when you take it out, because the water that is left in the tray after the microwave finishes will be very hot. Please, eat well.
You make great videos! My dad always tells me that back when he was a kid, they were thought to look up to and respect the knowledge of older people, and I'm glad that you bring your knowledge and wisdom to Youtube.
love your videos, it's refreshing to here views and points from you and all the knowlege and life you have behind you its very refreshing keep your videos coming well done and good luck also with your tv work
Peter! Well done with the peas! Ha yay :) I always do mine on High for 2 mins, try that! And then if they're not quite done do them again for another half minute or so :) xx

Keep it up.

Dear Mtd,
I very much hope, that you have/can find a friend in your neighbourhood you can really communicate with. It is of such enormous importance.

Happy Day! T

gatebee 4 years ago
Hi! First time viewer! I have to say, what you experienced when eating those peas is a very common event, I think. I often eat something, like a fig newton or something like that, that brings me right back to when I was a kid. I really enjoy those moments :)
Your videos make me smile!!

TamHickey67 4 years ago
Good video as always. In Japan they talk about the old as "silver" They call the middle aged "middies". They had this travel deal and advertised it as "nice middies"!
Colinnnnnnnn 4 years ago
we had oranges in our stockings at the holidays as well. I wonder how many different places have that custom and where it might have started.
Another wonderful story, Sir! I got a great laugh with your comment about "oh well, I need the fiber". I SO can relate.
Always lovely to see you again. :-)

Just a little tip Peter, apparently you don't need much water to cook peaas in the microwave, but just a splash of water on them and then somethin over the top to stop the water all evapourating ( cling flim works if you prick a few holes in it but is a pain to get it off the container )
should stop them going dry and hard :D
deadlychickenxop 4 years ago
First of all peter I just want to thank you for you vlogs, they are wonderful. I love how you can't quite manage to cook your peas in the microwave, but you can make/edit and post videos onto the internet...Brilliant! Good luck with all your new projects!

Weshes12 4 years ago
You should try ordering some fish or some meat online and then some bread to make sandwiches. I do that quite often. The meats come packed with dry ice. You can order seabass and the likes. Delicious really.
Weshes12 4 years ago
Hello, if you use a microwave to cook. Try putting a little water in the tray before putting it into the mircowave. It works in two ways it stops the food from drying out, and it cooks the food faster. Just be careful when you take it out, because the water that is left in the tray after the microwave finishes will be very hot. Please, eat well.

Pigheadedness leads obviously after many, many years to great wisdom! (oh yeah!)

You were absolutely right as a child to eat most things raw. Cooking (especially microwave) reduces not only the amount of vitamins.
A lot of things were in fact better in the old times.
When progress comes, we tend to forget how things were before. Therefore I like your stories very much and appreciate your effort of telling us!
