  • If it hasn't already been mentioned, this song is about the biblical book of Job, which tries to to explain the problem of evil and suffering in the world. "To settle a bet that could not be won between a prideful father and his son"... it's all about the bet that God makes with Devil to test the faith of humanity. Lost of philosophers have a massive problem with the book of Job.

    SHUT UP AND ENJ0:00Y!

  • @Barrakaflaka14 Ironic.

  • Fucking awesome!!!

  • great video man,

  • do these guys not like cristians? explain this to me

  • @KinkyZebra911 Christianity is a faith that has been corrupted by it's leaders almost immediately after it was founded. When it was adopted by the Roman Empire, they mixed aspects of paganism into it, and from their many tried to remain faithful, but there is a reason there are so many versions that all think they are right, it's because it's so twisted there is no way to know what is stolen from my faith, what is made up, and what was actually written. Don't know the bands stance

  • this song helped me through my 6 month service in my country's defence forces. it was over -30c, coldest winter for a long time, we had shooting and group attack practises the whole day and as we finally got to our tent to sleep,i put my headphones on and listened to this, i ended up doing it every night.

  • In case you haven't figured out it out yet, the "only true Messiah" is in fact, ourselves.

  • damn i watched the original vid and i was like wat the fuck this isnt loud and i went to this one excellent quality good job :D

  • Made a T that had ducttape crossing it all over with words like imagine and peace so haters go die in a fucking hole from rectal cancer!!! @--;-

  • Despite the title, this song is full of so much hope.

  • Reserect good rock music. Were bringing it back from the grave bitch

  • It's easy to imagine...so true, so true.

  • Oh yeah. Awesome video.

  • @IndiePunkSnob I think people who are passionate about their beliefs are awesome!

  • I disagree with you TOO. I think you're mistaken TOO. I'm just posting my comment instead of replying to you directly TOO. I'd be interested in civil discourse TOO. This is actually meant to offend you. I bet you're gonna block me too. Blocking someone who oldisagrees with you even after they apologize for offending you, now that is juvenile TOO. please do block me so I never make the again mistake of wasting my time on you.

  • Can you offer any examples of songs or specific lyrics supporting or suggesting the idea of a religious or even deistic worldview or life-stance? Btw, sorry about my snarky comments in my initial response. I usually try to avoid the militant atheist as well as the asshole punker approach,as bitter arguments get us nowhere, but I slip quite often. If I'm slow to respond, attribute it to my school workload, not success in your argument ;-)

  • @HandiCripple666 Why are you just posting your comment instead of posting it in reply to mine? I know why, it's because you were hoping I wouldn't see it and respond to it; therefore, making you feel as if you won the argument. Whatever dude, this conversation isn't worth my time just because you did something so juvenile. Enjoy getting blocked.

  • Additionally, I own everything they've ever released in the US (& some bootlegs) (2 EPs & 15 LPs on wax) except videos & singles (in single format) as well as Graffin's 2 solo albums, 2 books & the one by Preston Jones consisting of a year's worth of correspondence between the 2 of them. Ive been following them through more than half their career. I'll post a list of recommended listening when I get a few. I'm cramming for a Western Civ exam now.

  • Waffle - Are you being deliberately ignorant or are you just unknowingly walking into a gunfight without even a knife. Metaphorically speaking, of course. Have ya heard any of their other songs? No, they're not all non-believers, & no, Bad Religion—as an entity, does not outright state an "official" stance on religion. But seriously, go listen to em a little more then get back to me.

  • @HandiCripple666 I've listened to more than enough of their songs to know that they don't promote atheism. They oppose the mainstream idea of religion and instead support an independant route to it. I think you're taking that crossbuster logo of theirs a little too literally.

  • prideful father and his son ? the bet was between go and satan. satan is no where remotley gods son!

yes there is sorrow ! what will you do about it? we pour it upon our fellow man, with complete free will. if someone is starving feed him, hurting console and help him, cold and alone ,shelter him. suffering is the time between life and death. if you kill , you are by free will taking it upon YOURSELF to instill sorrow upon mankind, not the dying.

  • As much as I pray, wish, and hope for it to be gone... sorrow will exist as long as man roams this Earth. Of course, out of incredible misery there is always a light that breaks through...

  • I hate that people are racist to Muslims for something that they didn't do. Great vid and really true, it's sad that the World resorts to violence instead of words to solve their problems.

  • Hey! Its not about hate!! It Never Was!! Who disposes of all the evidence, Whether it's m.l.k. Malcolm X, J.F.K. < George Lincoln Rockwell, Or 9/!!???? It sure as hell wasnt me!!

  • the first time i ever heard this song was in concert, back in 2002, when they came to toronto, but right before i had baught the process of belief cd. and its a memory that i will take with me to the grave. the emotion, the stage presence, the audience interaction during the chorus, everything about this song just resonates with me through the ages. this song is just a timeless masterpiece.

  • It's always been a peeve of mine to see people relate this song to their personal problems, or their condolences to people who have endured/just recently went through a disaster/horrible event. You're entitled to use the song however you want, but the song was not intended to be an uplift for people who have gone through immense hardships. Rather, its an allegorical song questioning the status of god, and how millions of years of sorrow and hatred in this world could flourish.

  • Really nice video! :D

  • Great song, AWESOME video.

2:35 confuses me; im just an hour above Toronto and don't recall any explosion like that except for in 2008 but that was AFTER this was made

  • you really did this amazing song justice with your video xD excellent work, favourited for sure :)

  • @xStrayxAngelx thank you

  • That was really cool.

  • My all time favourite song. Thank you for sharing this video it is really amazing : )

  • Greatest band in the God damn world.

  • i am christian and bad religion is one of my favorite bands and when you look at the lyrics it kind of reminds me of imagine by john lennon

  • @altnation10101 Theres direct reference to Imagine in the song.

  • good job man, incredible.

  • great job mate. its such an awe inspiring song. you've done it justice.

  • @munkeymomo Thank you

  • There will be.....

  • That's better than the official video. The only part I'm iffy on is the brief but totally logical flash of Jesus. I've been trying to figure out that lyric for ages, and my only guess is that the reference was intended to be a reference to humanity being the only true "messiah", as in we're all we've got. I think perhaps a sad, pathetic, impotent version of JC would fit in better, HOWEVER, this is siting the fact that BR promotes an atheistic worldview. Ignoring that, it's perfect. Great work.

  • @HandiCripple666 Thank you ;-) You make an excellent point ;-) This for me is one of of those song in life that just rattled me to the core with truth. Literally the first time I heard it I was dumbfounded with its honesty and shocked how touched I was.

  • @HandiCripple666 In the official video I noticed as he's singing the "only true messiah" line, Graffin motions at his head 3 times with I believe his right hand.

I suspect the line was deliberately intended to have multiple meanings. One is as you've suggested, the "we're all we've got" idea. The second the obvious religious connotation (intended sarcastically of course), and the third is something a bit more abstract, that the only way we free ourselves is through independent thought.

  • ...and @affirmedatheist congratulation on the most intelligent comment i've read on youtube in a long time :) kudos sir

  • @HandiCripple666 Bad Religion doesn't promote atheism.

  • i still cant believe greg graffin is also a college professer

  • I dedicate this song to all the poor souls who took French in high school.

  • great freakin song!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 =)

  • an amazing song. pretty good video also

  • @HeroLink777 thanks , and I am glad your lady has a person like you now to see her be strong and support her

  • @HeroLink777 ;-) thank you, and I am glad your girl now has a good guy to count on

  • I'd like to dedicate this to the victims of the recent earthquake in Japan and all others who suffer in the world to this day.

May there be sorrow no more.

  • @BadReligion1994 I second that dedication

  • HC FROM BRAZIL !

  • I just appreciate that the sound quality is better than the official video here on YouTube.

  • 1:09 hell yeah!

  • @QweenAIPVIP Really?

  • Amazing video. but wat software did you use to make it

  • pambomar Did you make this video or did you just post it? Awesome job if you make it!! I had this on my Buzznet page a long time ago and everyone loved it. I can't believed someone said it was crappy. Ronnzo must be a republican. But with a name like Gonzales that's not a very good party to belong to. Ooops did I say that out loud? Anyway, sorry if I plagerised it with Buzznet. I just did it because I loved the video.

  • @LDZZ I did make the video but of course the song is all bad religion - you know if people dont like it I dont take it personally at all they are entitled to their opinion ;-)

  • @LDZZ dont get stuck in that democrat republican bullshit.

  • nice!! very nice job mate!

  • is it possible to give two thumbs up?

  • my brother came home from afghanistan alive this month so fuck obama and sharon, eat it bitch

  • was is das für ein beschissenes video?!^^

  • @pambomar but i like the song. :) happy holidays

  • @RonnzoGonzales aber echt..^^ geile musik.. scheiß video.... schäm dich....xD

  • Six people SUCK!!!!

  • "or when the only true Messiah rescues us from ourselves" I love that verse. Reminds me of all the people who'd rather accept armageddon as reality and don't concern themselves with the real issues humanity faces because believing in a savior is easier than being one.

  • One of the greatest songs ever written IN MY OPINION

  • this song has nothing to with the bushes, what the fuck is she talking about??

  • 6 people dont know how to appreciate a great video and a great song

  • This tackles something of a high importance. No one should lived drenched in the HATRED of others. Starvation, Racism, Sexism, etc. should not happen, but it does. This shows what it's like to be a victim of the above. And that is really important.

  • @Zman7477 , thank you I felt strongly that this song was an excellent choice to platform those issues

  • Respond to this video... u put alot of time and thot into this, thank you. more people should feel this kind of passion...us

  • @thedecaycafe ....thank you so much-

  • @thedecaycafe beautiful ;) haha

  • @thedecaycafe thank you very much , you know I love music and enjoy it everyday in my life this is one of a handful of songs that really touch me and speak to me ;-)

  • @pambomar yeah it was pretty nice... only thing that sucked was that they didnt play "you"

  • Great work!

This has been a favorite song of mine for sometime and its rather strange to see how similar our interpretations are. I applaud your willingness to me dark but to also identify the champions of this thought.

  • @IshimmerI thank you very much

  • Good song. Lyrics are controversial but still good overall.

  • Excellent. Wish more people had this perspective.

  • @pmreamezzz thanks

  • Good job man. Wish more people had this perspective.

  • @ocd69penguin , lol

  • Great job, gives me the chills!

  • @xxmonkey321xx , thank you very much, I have to admit when i finished it and watched it threw the first couple times me too

  • One of my favorite bands. Yet, when I wanted to put it on my page their video is so self- centered around the singer: Greg. I do believe him to be an egocentric and self-absorbed...although obviously amazingly talented.

Your Video is both fitting and poignant; it compliments their lyrics and playing. Thanks.

  • love this song been trying to find the title forever-at least since i first heard it i dont remember where that was

  • I love this song. Amazing video BTW too.

  • is this song about good or bad of god, and if good which i hope it is, why is the band called bad religion?

  • i love this song!!!!!!!!SO AWESOME!!!!!

  • Great job! This video is absolutely fantastic... everything just fits in. You made it!

  • ertg

  • In reality, the song "Sorrow" is Greg Graffin's (the lead singer of Bad Religion) critique of [God's role in] the Book of Job from the Old Testament. Read about it and listen to the lyrics again. The lyrics will make much more sense.

However, this is really well done videography for a great song. And I appreciate your freedom and enthusiasm to interpret the lyrics in your own artistic way.

  • @mrsanchez7 Are you serious? WOW... I knew bad religions lyrics were "advanced" but that's brilliant! my respect for this band did just raise to a whole new level

  • @mrsanchez7 , aweome comment ;-)

  • Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous. Brett Gurewitz is such a nice man. And you are such a nice woman.

  • Brilliant

  • brillant bro fucking brilliant is all i can say

  • great video! :)

  • Amazing!Black and white pics add to the overall drama and emotion. They subtly yet strongly blend with the music.

  • I commend you.

but really, great job. thank you for making a good important video.

  • @carbonxdating thank you for watching and I am glad you enjoyed it

  • I understand why you have to give the warning but it makes me so ANGRY! If people don't want to see what is happening to their brothers then they should get their fucking ass off this planet!

NOBODY should have the right to ignore this!

  • 5*s

  • You did an amazing job on this.

  • that song really does paint a picture in your head when you listen. good job putting it on paper.

  • fucking awesome. nice job.

  • interpertation daoesnt matter the song speacks to all of us

  • Good job to the video :D

  • i hate you. you ruined my life. you were never a father to me and never will i let you try to be again. you burned your bridge with me. goodbye

  • @stratisclouds , I am a female, so I am pretty sure you have the wrong person, good luck finding your DAD

  • So if "a prideful father and his son" is not the Bushes, who are they referring to?

  • Ive heard it interpreted 2 different ways. God and the Devil (if you are of the christian belief you obviously believe God created the devil) and God and the singer. Hell it could be as simple as a father and son, but I doubt it.

  • Nice job! Bad Religion has always made some really powerful music but I think you have taken it to another level! Thank you.

  • Thanks again ! I really appreciate your comments ;-)

  • @pambomar Music is religion! How else can you explain how 1 band or 1 song writer, whoever it may be or whatever music taste, can move or effect so many people?

  • @pambomar good job bitch! can i give you a bj? thats how good this vid was man! now ima suck your dick! and im not even gay!

  • Amazing is the only word I can use here. I've always loved this song, the pictures make it hit even more.

  • I am glad you enjoyed it ! i really love this song and I strongly believe we all relate to music like religion and we interprete in our own ways .

  • Amazing vid! Great pictures, editing! Evokes emotion. Very well done!

  • Thanks so much .

  • this is great thank you. i am going to use this video in a religion presentation at school :P
