She's been the cutest contestant so far. She was also one of the best singers the show doesn't have. I believe this is the last season I fully watched; after the outcome of this season, the show seemed more like a cosmetic contest rather than a talent contest.

Not to take anything away from Melinda because she's absolutely brilliant. The only reason why she didn't win is because American Idol is now being shifted toward a younger audience, Melinda doesn't have that girl next door marketability that American Idol likes (Carrie, Kelly), she can't be molded into what they want to mold her into (Jordin), and she didn't have that spunky, fresh personality (Fantasia)....although it's the search for the best singer...and definetly(sp) it was Melinda.

Well, we can't really say that Jordin isn't a good singer, because You'll Never Walk Alone was truly magical, she turned out A Broken Wing, and not to mention she has a platinum debut album, she is the only Idol winner to have their first 4 singles reach the Top 20 on Billboard Charts, and she has the highest selling single from any American Idol contestant to date with 'No Air', and at only 18, she has lots more room to grow.
