Is it better to go ahead and just use a scraper than a hand plane and sander then?
I'm getting into woodworking and have bought 4 sanders now and they work great but if there is a quicker and better way then I'm all for getting on the same page with that lol.
@ronemarshall Well I wouldn't say any of them are "better" so much as they are just different ways of getting the job done. If you don't like sanding, a scraper and/or a smoothing plane will make you much happier. But a smoothing plane can be problematic on wild or figured grain. That's the beauty of the card scraper; its very easy to use.
Wow - Thanks. That was a great demonstration! It's amazing how many bad (as in completely technically incorrect) videos are out there showing "how to use a scraper"
I'm still always amazed about what people can do with what is basically a flat piece of metal. I got one, never really got the hang of it, i guess i will try again these days. Very cool.
Wow. Thank you so much for sharing. Looks like I've been doing this wrong for a while. There are many vids on how to sharpen scrapers, but apparently not very well.
QUESTION: What is the brand name of Mr. Ng's "finishing" stones?
OBSERVATION: Lucky for us that you had your flip cam with you, Marc. Thanks.

@James66860 Pretty sure he has them for sale in his online store. I believe they are Takenoko.

So that's what those things do. I've been using mine to get gum off table bottoms.

Very nice!!!, now I understand how you can achieve the level of skills you own, surrounded by people like William... and I guess many others.
I wish here in Mexico I could find someone to learn from.
Thanks
