THis is exactly how The Shredder should have been created for the movie. In the second movie they screwed up by making Shredder look like a stupid mindless lowlife thug, whereas in fact he is much more than that. As in the first movie, Shredder is a criminal genius, a charismatic and brutal leader able to lead hundreds may be thousands of young thugs and smart and influential enough to found a whole new army of ninjas for his own gains. what made shredder so bad ass, is that he is not a chicken shit villain. So many times we see the bad guys fight dirty or run away. Shredder stood his ground, gave the turtles time to gather themselves and talk strategy and still beat them up twice without breaking a sweet.

One of my favorite villain fights. The way Shredder just lets them take all the time they want to get ready, discuss battle plans, and even beats them all twice without breaking a sweat is a testament. They coulda copped out by having him fight like a coward, but they built Shredder up as this indomitable badass and it truly paid off.

If they ever make another TMNT movie that's dark, they should use both Shredder and The Rat King! Think about it! The Turtles save Splinter from The Rat King's mind control, and then they leave him with April while they go deal with Shredder!

In the end, the turtles go look for Shredder's body after he falls, but they never find it! We just see a bunch of rats sniffing Shredder's helmet. Also, we hear the haunting sound of the flute playing as the rats run back into the sewer!
