  • the best ever....

  • Wow,

I was looking for an up tempo jazzy version of this when I found Barbara. Got chills from the first line of the song.

  • I never realized how lovely her legs are. From white garters to tights.I miss those fashions of the late 60's and early seventies.Great wardrobe.

  • @robphilll22 Babs never really geta the credit she should eventhough she is the ultiamte DIVA with grace

  • Love her! Love the song!

  • I hate that movie, but I'll turn it in at the end just to hear Babs sing "On a Clear Day". It's emotional !

  • @amuslima99 Are you nuts! The film is fantastic! The premise is eerie as hell. It's Hitchcock's Vertigo with music -- but the twist in On A Clear Day is that it's all real.

  • one word... Barbra!!!!!

  • i love her so much !!!

  • What a gift she has... there has been no one like her ever since. The only one who ever came close was Judy Garland. Just beautiful.

  • Dam if this song desn't make the hair on the back of your neck stand on end you are dead!!!

  • Holy crap! What a great voice. I know it goes without saying, but that long sustained note she held at the end was impressive.

  • Coming to Broadway with Harry Connick, Jr. Well, well, well, it's the dual of the Barbra musicals! Funny Girl and On a Clear Day You Can See Forever. Talk amongst yourselves!

  • I "LOVE" you Barbra!!!

  • THE FEMALE SINATRA

  • Her voice is perfection! The best ever heard!

  • @gtofmybk no beyonce!

  • @gtofmybk

the best we will ever HEAR.

  • when she first went blonde.

  • @macachochoes Barbra was 27 when this film was shot.

  • 晴れた日に永遠が見える というタイトルのミュージカル映画です。女子大生が催眠術にかかって前世を回想する話だったような?

  • This movie played at my 1st job at the Coral Theatre in Coral Gables, Fl, I have been a fan ever since!

  • これはなんという映画ですか?

  • Check out that outfit and the hat and before that the graphics. High fashion in 1970. I reckon that could make a comeback as a kind of retro kitsch. Yes, she is a great singer.

  • the one ....the only.....barbra streisand WOW

  • Can someone please post this movie?

  • YES!! the GREAT STAR EVER #1 Love Love LOVE HER!!! this is truly one of my favorite movies her voice is SUPER!!!

  • love u barbara

  • Superb, excellence, amazing, thrilling, even spellbinding. It all means BARBRA!!!!!!!!!!!! No one, & I mean NO ONE, has this incredible voice. It is Barbra, alone.

  • The Clairvoyant Anthem

  • I'm not a big Barbra fan, but this is one of my favorite songs of hers.

  • Here's a little musical trivia: one of PBS' lesser-known shows, "A.M. Weather", used the 4-note melody in its 1980-89 theme song.

  • Watch her sing "God Bless America" at the Bill Clinton Inauguration...it's simply amazing because it's 100% live... her voice has no boundaries.. it can soar and soar and soar with the slightest effort.

  • Barbara Streisand voice is simply.....wow! A voice like hers comes along every 50 years or more. I am proud that I have had the honor of listening to her heavenly vocals. I will forever be a Streisand fan! Keep doing you, Ms. Streisand!

  • nobody but nobody can sign or has sung like this Barbra in the 60's and 70's

  • I love this movie too much.

  • you BEGINNERS. take note (LOL. no pun intended). you SEE how she is 'involved' in every moment of the song. and as she 'lunges' ever so lightly at the 1:08 pt. is it CLEAR how truly magnificent she is?

  • This is kind of a cheesy movie, with scattered, genuinely good comedic moments (Jack Nicholson's film debut for one and Bob Newhart's deadpan comedy). But I bought it and love it. Great soundtrack, too, of course.

  • Wonderful Nelson Riddle orchestration

  • the Best Singer Ever on the Planet!! #1

  • This should be the clairvoyant, psychic, empath, etc., anthem!

  • Now that's is what I call real singing

    What a strong beautiful voice

Thanks I agree should be more hits

    but thanks for posting

  • I can't believe that this only has about 63,000 hits. There should be about 10 times that many. This is one of Barbra Streisand's greatest recordings and that's saying a lot. What's the deal?

  • Her voice is timeless.

  • What a voice and like the movie too x

  • To me the VERY BEST Singer/ Entertainer of All Time #1

  • This song is a mantra for my heart. The movie let me know I wasn't the only one. Wow it is a new day it is a new dawn. With every moment. What a joy it is to be who I am? With my unique vision of possibility.

  • Sigh.... WHAT A VOICE!

  • Very beautiful Song :) :) :)

  • ~ SMILES ~

  • The Best Female Singer ERVER on this Planet #1 Always!! Love Her/ Love this movie!

  • @pinkhighway Lovely song. The better the singer, the better it sounds. Robert Preston & the original cast in the original Music Man is to die for. Get thee to that web site, my good friend.

  • Ah, the Streisand Trifecta ("Funny Girl", "Hello, Dolly!" and "On A Clear Day"). This particular song while not my favorite holds up with the other great songs from the show "Love With All The Trimmings", "Go To Sleep", "What Did I Have (That I Don't Have)", "Hurry, It's Lovely Up Here". For me, the casting of Yves Montand a.k.a. Elmer Fudd (Hewr my woice, where you awre) kinda killed the modern scenes where all the period stuff ROCKED!

  • I'll revise my comments. I like Barbra's energy. And I especially like the closing credits full orchestra playing. It is a great story basis.

  • The quality of her voice and interpretation makes one gasp - in awe.

  • The melody came from Maurice Ravel. And SkrEEETCHland is awful prancing about the stage. God awful. Best version is by Bob Goulet.

  • MY fave Spring movie!

  • This song and Beau Soir by Debussy are her best.

  • @djk1814, your observation that this may be the greatest singing Barbra Streisand has ever done is very astute. The only other film Barbra sounded most splendid and looked most splendid in was "Hello, Dolly!" Listen to her lovely nuances in the reprise of "It Takes A Woman" or her delicate opening to "Before the Parade Passes By." She is a breathtaking singer.

  • @GoodguyNYS I could not agree with you more. When I heard the "It Takes A woman" reprise, I was blown away. The quality of the singing then was beyond what anyone could do. Also the beginning of "Parade", the singing and orchestrations are outstanding. I am a pianist/musical director for stage singers and I had a brilliant singer peform Parade and I recreated the same exact orchestration from the film for the piano. Worked really well and singer was incredible. You TOTALLY get it.

  • Actually her rendition on "Live Concert at the Forum" is pretty spectacular!

  • @kscdc Agreed. But the quality of the singing in the film version I believe blows anything I ever heard thereafter out of the water. THanks for posting.

  • Yes Very good, but listen to Nancy wilson sing this song,it will BLOW YOU AWAY

  • This is my favorite Babs song and movie.

  • Quite simply the best there is. Love you Barbra!

  • That's the genius Nelson Riddle doing the arrangement and orchestration in the 'background'. Amazing job.

  • @pointreyes6 I have to admit, most orchestrators/arrangers who arrange muscis for Barbra RISE to an occasion not heard before in their other works. I have never heard Nelson Riddle do such great work, as he did in this film score. Again, the arrangement of Clear Day so greatly suits every nuance of Barbra's voice that the arrangement and vocals together, especially at the end, are thrilling.

  • the credits in their groovy color schemes are impossible to read...

  • Diva absoluta!

  • the only woman to outsing Whitney Houston!

  • I Truly Love and Adore Barbra Streisand the Best Soongtress on the Planet!!!!!!!

  • There are great singers, and then there's BS; so far above everyone, she's in another world.

  • without a doubt one of the best performances from the greatest star of all time simply fantastic

  • Whatever happened to this movie? Didn't it have Louis Jordan in it? It just like fell off the face of the earth! The song was a big hit, but you never hear it either.

I've got to get hubby to put it on the netflix list (can't spell the q word)

I saw this in the movies years ago and really liked it.

It really is Barbara at her peak.

    Thanks for posting this!

  • God I love her. it's not fair that someone gets to be blessed with so many talents as she has. I wonder why that is, not just celebrities but ordinary people as well have so much to offer and do, while others are controlled by fear, or inadequacy...I can't help but compare myself to other people to identify with whether famous or not, and I realize that some people have 10 talents, while others only have 1. I don't get it.

Didn't mean to get philisophical (smile) I was just wondering?

  • @djk1814 completely agree - this is my favorite Barbra flick...some of the greatest music and singing! Saw the movie in the theater in 1970 in high school and still find myself humming and singing the songs today - lol!!

  • that was serious wow

  • Her voice just floats through the music and just builds until its drenched you in this euphoria. It 's amazing!

  • @creamtangerines

Nicely said. I agree with the "drenched you in this euphoria" statement. Beyond thrilling. I saw this in an new giant movie theater, that had state of the art 1970's sound and seeing this last scene transcended me to a place that I will never forget for the rest of my life.

  • @djk1814 That sounds really cool. I wish I could've seen this in theaters, it really is such a powerful musical production, I don't feel my little old tv did it much justice!

  • same font used on the 1970's detective show "Cannon" anyone know the name of the font?

  • That voice is God given. Yeap, only God could create a voice like that.

  • This woman has some lungs on her. ... GODDD DAMN!

  • LET ME PREFACE MY UPCOMING COMMENT WITH THIS BIT OF INFO.

I am an old skool R&B lover who once sang in R&B groups, and this type of music is nowhere near my style.

But ANY SONG sung by this woman is an immediate favorite of mine; and although I am a latecomer to her fantastic voice, there is no doubt in my mind that this is the greatest voice in the history of great voices.

    Hands Down!

  • i do agree because no one can out sing this great big shining star .......can anyone please uploade this awesome movie......please...

  • i do agree because she just cant be out sung ....... can anyone up lpad the whole movie please...

  • Streisand has always blown away all other singers..and this shows why. She Is A Phenomenon.

And we are blessed to be witnessing such incredible talet in a single humna being.

  • The quintessential Barbra song. Its classic, strong and powerful. Of all of her great songs, this is by far my favorite.

  • This is my favorite Streisand film. It received mixed reviews at the time of its release, but it has held up very well. It is beautifully acted and directed, and the set design and cinematography are exemplary. It is truly a classy and wonderful film. I would like to see some of the deleted footage, especially more of Yves Montand, who was a fine actor and singer. When Streisand made the recordings for the film, in 1969, she was twenty-seven years old, and her voice was truly at its zenith.

  • Never thought a film from the 70's would make me aware. But I have to say, despite it's comedic element, this film is ahead of it's time. I can feel people before they call me and I know when I'm going to see someone from my past before I see them. It's all about cleansing the soul and your body and mind just take over. Kind of creepy at times, which is why I try to knumb myself with other sources. Still a beautiful gift.

  • Tiger, I saw the movie in 1973, when I was 10. I

  • djk1814 I agree with you 100% I saw this movie in the theater in 1970 = the music and Barbra have stayed with me all these years...impressive and extremely moving! She is the finest! All of the music in this film is fabulous!!

  • Wonderful memories with this piece. I remember in "On a Clear Day" there was a song, I believe called "Love With All The Trimmings". Barbra looked so exquisitely beautiful when she was singing that song, it took my breath away. In her TV special in the '60's,"Color Me Barbra",there was a song called"Draw Me A Circle" that was just so heartwarming and lovely when she sang it. I have both vinyl albums in my stuff someplace, but no record player. Would LOVE to hear those again.

  • I have no words.

  • great song!

  • Few singers have ever held those huge notes as long and as powerfully as this amazing creature. And for sure, no one in has ever held them in the movies.

  • By the way, with regard to the orange "dress" the character Daisy wears at the end of the film, if you watch the scene midway through the film where she is getting kicked out of the orphanage as Melinda, it is the SAME outfit and the same hat, only the dress and hat are dark down and the dress is longer and not as styled. That was another way the director makes the connection between Melinda and Daisy. Very clever of them and very subtle.

  • Yeah, I did notice that. I really like that connection. Also a scene where Marc opens a door to find her smoking. She's in a drab dark brown coat, then in his office, when she takes it off she's wearing a pink pastel dress. I think that was the first hint, before we meet Melinda.

  • LOve that song, it`s from which movie ?

  • Simply the best. Great song too:)

  • I LOV E HER AND ME LOLXXBABS

  • Love this song...adore the movie..simply breathtaking..thank you :)

  • Wonderful voice! Wonderful song. She's a big singer. I love her voice y her talent.

  • There aren't enough superlatives to describe Barbra's incredible voice, especially at this point in her life. Her work all through the Sixties and early Seventies was, in my opinion, her best work. Her voice was at its peak, and this movie truly showcases all she's got. Brava, Barbra!

  • Oh, but, her singing and acting in On a Clear Day are fantastic!! I just don't care for Yves Montand, but otherwise I love this film! Beautiful songs, costumes, etc.

  • Barbra will be 68! Her b-day is April 24, 1942! I read it years ago, and never forgot. I don't know which of her films I love best! I have to check this one out again. My favorite, I think, is What's Up Doc?( In which she sang!) It's absolutely one of the funniest comedies of all time!! She and Ryan stealing a bicycle, remember that?! LOVE it!! Still cracks me up.

  • This is my favorite Barbra movie! Amazing song, amazing voice! Every song Babrba sings turns to gold. She's a household name in my family. I grew up with her music. I love it, and her talent will live on forever. It will really be a very sad day when she passes.

BTW, I LOVE her outfit! it's so retro and adroable!

  • I also love the arrangement when it changes at 1:31 and launches into a british fanfare with heavy brass to bring back "Melinda" and England. Extremely evocative. Listen to that brass. Brilliant and thrilling.

  • @djk1814 Hey. I never made that connection in Clear Day, but you're right. Very cool:)

  • Undeniably, the greatest arrangement of that song (Nelson Riddle). Also, it was tailored made to her style and singing ability at the time. No one could have sung that song like she did and no one ever has. DJK

  • I wish I could see some scenes of the Broadway version... it's so rare.

  • she was just awesome and deserves her place in fame.

  • The singing on this song, and on the entire soundtrack may be the greatest singing Streisand has ever done in her life. If there is better, I'd like to know what it is. No other singer has ever sung like this an no one ever will. The quality of singing is beyond anything any of us will likely hear in our lifetimes.

  • @djk1814 She did a great job of singing the songs from Yentl, also. THAT was absolutely fantastic!!

  • @djk1814 FULLY FULLY AGREE-BEAUTY!!!!!MY FAVOURITE SOUNDTRACK+FILM!!!

  • @djk1814 "Don't Rain On My Parade" might qualify as equally good if not better. But I totally agree about her singing - she's the greatest theatrical singer of our age, male or female.

  • @djk1814 yes great, but listen to yhis song sung by Nancy Wilson,it will blow you away

  • @starmount21 Thank you. But where is the song? Can you send me the link? I so want to hear it. Wilson was a great and underrated talent.

  • @starmount21 - not bad but nobody can sing like Barbra - sorry just my opinion.

  • @djk1814 I have to agree, although there are other wonderful singers Barbra's voice brings me to tears!

  • @djk1814 Her vocals for YENTL and Hello, Dolly are the best she ever did, but this rendition is way up there as well. Just the best.

  • @djk1814 Two other finales are just as good: "A Piece of Sky" and "My Man".

  • @paulancheta

Great point. You are so right. This one just happens to be my favorite because of the time in my life when this first affected me and the extraordinary quality of the voice at that time. Beyond unbelivable. Best to you, David

  • @djk1814 and the best part is that she sounds ( or sounded) crystal clear live exactly like this video.. even better

  • @djk1814 i personally like funny girl better

  • "Melinda Twelvetrees"

  • can someone post the scene just before this one? thanks.

  • Wonderful!! I have seen this movie so many times I can't count, and I never get bored with it!

  • Her best song ever. She was a star before she became over exposed. If she had simply been a hermit the public would never have burned out on her. I still love her and remember her early films fondly. It wasn't until she became a "Godess" like Oprah that I simply stopped listening. This song still has a ring of originality, spontaneity and freshness that never goes away. Love this film and Yves Montand as well.

  • She sings like a lark!

  • BRILLIANT and the film's fun too

  • One of the best things she's ever done!!!!

  • THE vocalist!

  • Wow, Wow and more Wow!!!! This woman's voice is amazing. I never knew what it meant that "on a clear day you can see forever" in the context of this movie, but I now LOVE clear days!

  • A classic!
