  • on tool geometry of tool #2(drilling tool) how did the x center came out with a value of -11.6297? well it must be zero right? pls explain..

  • thank you for sharing it ...

  • One thing I noticed...sometimes you run into a problem when you change tools at the home position, if you have unusually long (X) tools installed. With our lathes the max length is 2", if the tool extends further then it collides with the top wall during the change. For those programs I don't use the home position to change, but rather a "safe" position like X5 Z9, depending on the shape of the workpiece.

  • You are right, but I would amplify.

You should always change tools at a safe position, unless you are sure of your clearances, and decide to change somewhere else to save a tiny fraction of time. But safe tool change position should be your default method!!

  • now i know how to set up HAAS SL20 pls post more videos about programming, tool setting and soft jaw selection

  • no presetter?

  • My dad is beast for this kind of stuff, I aint no machinist. Theres good money in it. Beats construction by a long shot!!

  • yes it is!!!! for the mill 2 =)

  • Why not just use the probe for tool offsets?? Probably easier to teach

  • @mbernasconi This lathe might not have a tool probe and all machines don't have them. Better to learn how to set up tools without one first.
