  • i like how the woman's version of the language is still more high pitched than the mans, like in other languages too :)

  • I can't do it! :( I've been clicking my tongue for the past hour, and I still can't get it.

  • very useful to me in my phonetics learning...well done..! ^^

  • Wow that is hard.......

  • This is the great course!! :)))

  • Bravo!!!

  • If only I could reach this!

  • Amazing! I used to think the Chinese and Xhosa's were nuts! I hadn't seen anything yet! Really cool though! If you really want to be mesmerized by a continuous flow of clicks, cross to Botswana to hear the San speak. It's like nature's crazy experiment but fascinating to listen to, and they are the most pleasant people ever!

  • @ASPRINALARD

thank you, next year I'm going to visit Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. I will try to meet those people and listen :)

  • im looking like an idiot sitting in front of my pc doing weird sounds haha.. clicking sounds are soo so interesting, pity, that its in no widely spoken language. really want to learn such a language

  • impossible to make this all in the right way as the people in the video

  • can you please help me understand the difference between the ! and the # ?? how does the tongue move differently for each one? does it touch the teeth? when i try to do both of these clicks, they sound the same. :(

  • Its unique all right but also incredibly stupid and inefficient method of communication just for the sake of being unique.

  • @RickyLeighJr

firstly, what tells you that this is for the sake of being unique? how can it possible have anything to do with that? secondly, why should the language be inefficient? maybe it is even extremely efficient.

  • The last click sound made me burp O_O

  • Wow, that is amazing! Thank you so much for showing us! It is so vital the Khoisan remain proud and recognized as southern Africa's truly original inhabitants. I hope to one day visit Namibia.

  • i was doing an essay about "venus figurines" in paleolithic art...and i found about this, it is so interesting! thankyou!

    Greetings from Galicia, Spain.

  • i've been looking to learn khoisan language for a long time. please message me if you have any other information. great video

  • i can only do the first two =/

  • Can you explain what the click sounds mean, when you use them? Would the sentence be understood without the click sounds? Are they comparable to letters?

    Thanks a lot.

  • This is a very beautiful language ~ even though the clicks are hard, I want to learn it :D

  • That sounded just amazing! I could never imagine myself speaking like that. Your language seems so unique! :)

  • Wow, your language is very unique. This is the first time I have encountered a language that utilizes "clicks".

  • I used to think Americans were crazy when they made click sounds trying to speak an African language. Now i know i am the crazy one who doesn't know my continent.

  • @fmskido

    I'm very glad I could help :)

  • I still can't figure out the second one: (!). Does anyone know how to find a phonetic description of this sound?

  • does anyone know if there's any truth to the idea that clicks were used b/c they for whatever reason disturb wildlife less than our modern tongue does, which would be really useful when you're hunting?

  • aren't 1 and 3 and 2 and 4 the same?

  • sorry is it bantu or khoi san ?

  • @dDuck001 khoisan, pretty sure bantu languages are spoken further north

  • Thats soooo hard XD...I dont think i'm ever gonna learn that language...can't make the 2nd click sound!!!!! SOO cool though =D

  • I believe that they (khoi san) are the first group in the world like number of "phonemies" (sounds)

    the second place is circassians

    they are crazy

  • Sounds great!

  • and this is where beatboxing started

  • LMFAOOO ILY

  • So this is the ancient language of using clicks and beeps they used to communicate underwater thousands of years ago

  • This is the best language in the world!

  • I've always been interested in the various Khoi languages (and in both the Khoi and San themselves). I've always wanted to learn about them. This is fascinating! Thanks for posting this!

  • This is absolutely fantastic. I'm a lover of languages, and this one is incredible. It's a shame I've forgotten how to cluck my tongue; I can't match any of the sounds shown here.

  • SO COOL!

  • its a beautiful language.

  • Thanks for posting!

  • woah! that's very interesting.

  • THis is a language????? not imposible..

  • It's been spoken longer than engish so apparently it is possible.

  • that is sooo hard. i can't even reat what they said. lol

  • I can't even hear the diference between the four of them! :-( Next time someone tells me English sounds are difficult, I'll send them to study KhoeKhoegowab!

    Thanks for the lesson!

  • Great !!!

And the sounds are a good invitation to dance, don't you think???

    Rythmn !!!

  • I love this video.

Btw, my / , # and // are pretty good.

But I can't make the ! like them!!!!

"Lets go to dance"... when i could finally say this, my tongue gets tired.

  • Bjusterbaarlik!

  • I feel a bit silly sitting in front of the computer, clicking my tongue to this...

  • mate. why are people black who are born to black parents in europe then??

  • God is neither male nor female.

  • God doesn't exist, silly. It's just pretend! ;)

  • Are you stupid?

what is the conncetion between your asshole comment and the video or was it just a word that was burning your toungue and you had to spit it out

  • hafedhdeyah1984: 'Are you stupid?

what is the conncetion between your asshole comment and the video or was it just a word that was burning your toungue and you had to spit it out'

How very christian of you to talk to a fellow human being in such a way. :)

  • I have never been a christian not will I ever be. But no matter what my religion is I do not think it's appropriate to bring up religious conterversies in a comic setting

When ppl watch this vid, they would lough and learn sth intersting about other cultures

Imagine when they get offended by your irrelevent comment.

There are too many vids for a such a topic, you could go there and vent out yourself.

  • Check out the past comments I was reffering to, it was a reply to others speaking of this 'irrelevant' comments such as the one I posted.

    Peace.

  • and people say that Chinese i hard...

  • The second click is awesome!!

  • ausie Thusnelde, geise du ge !nuse ha, !nu #gao ta ra //na du ra mi #hab //ga xawe, khoets ge geise ra #khi, ne video gu !aroma!!!//kha-//kha //aidi hoade sada gowaba ti !ga,

  • I can't do any of these clicks for the life of me

  • the clicks are hard !

the sentance sounds very cool though.

    more practice for me. =]

but where is this country located ?

    near Africa or in ?

  • Namibia is located in southern Africa

  • Black power, baby!!!! Black people gave birth, to the whole world! I wonder what color God is? Ha ha!

  • God is Black and Female - Hallelujah, this is true.

  • Nah, everybody knows that God is Korean.

  • actually, i think that // is in the back and # is usuing your whole tongue on the roof of the mouth. am i right?

  • i have trouble doing the last one. i'm just guessing this, but i think / is at the front of the mouth, ! is in the middle and # is the back of your tongue on the back of the mouth. but i don't no how to make the // sound.

  • Very cool... I've already learned to do the clicks from my friends from Namibia. It's funny that they told me the same sentence to learn it!

P.S.: I can do them all and the sentence, too! ;-p

  • I can do the clicks because we did them unconsciously as kids to express frustration since we NEVER cursed. ;)

  • we can't produce the clicks because we lost the ability after we didn't use it when we were infants

  • No, it's not true. Everyone can produce them. It

s not that difficult. Just find some material on phonetics and read them and you'll find out how to pronounce.

  • what do the clicks mean and why do they speak with them? i've read that our ancestors spoke with clicks before we left africa...dunno how true it is though.

  • they dont speak with the clicks because they want to, they speak because its part of their language. its just like how english speakers are perhaps one of the only peoplep to use th certain words

  • can't do it lol

  • wohooo thanks for that but i cant learn it

  • wow if there a pop music in this language it gonna be real funny LOL

  • this is a real launguage

  • very well explained!

  • i cannot manage to produce any of the clicks :(

But it's cool to see a video about this languages.
