Have you ever thought, "Man, this song could be a great song if the performer-who-is-also-the-composer hadn't butchered it!" Plus, it's nice to know what a song would sound like if it's sung, say, with this different style or that person's voice, with different instruments..
I don't think Nina doesn't seem like the type of girl who would claim others' songs to be hers. And it's up to the listener whether he/she even cares if the artist of a song that's first heard is also the composer.
What matters is what interpretation appeals to the listener. You can't force someone to only like the original of every song that is to be made.
