  • "it doesnt make any sense which is good" lol, thats how I like it the best when I sample stuff.. CHEERS!

  • Where do you get all that Drum Kits? If I go where you go I don't have any kits?!?

  • dope tutorial

  • Helpful!

  • Mine does not look the same..

  • Im trying to make a kit with this technicue. The problem is, whenever I drag a sample over to Ultrabeat, it gets more base and does not sound at all like it should.. what can I be doing wrong? Im using the same preset as you I think, the drag and drop.

  • awesome video :-)

  • Is there a VST for PC that has the same sort of sampling function? I love this part of ultrabeat but only have access to Logic at uni

  • hi, i was just wondering if theres a way to set up the start of the sample to be controlled by an envelope on ultrabeat? :)

    thanks

  • how do i make that red circle that always show up when you click on something

  • @HjalmarGuitarMaster that is a feature of the screenflow software we use to create these videos.

  • @pointblankonline ahaa, thx

  • thanks good examples

  • This is an awesome trick. Thank you for making this video.

  • @peelskiwis Glad you like the video. Cheers.

  • interesting.

  • I was wondering how does the female vocal sounds, before modulating it ??

  • sweeet!

  • Great stuff. i always wounded how that was done back in the day. thanks.

  • how do i nudge a sample or drum to the left or right of the exact beat? Like say i want a sample to trigger slightly earlier or later than the quantize beat...can i do that with a knob or something?

  • does each bar trigger the sample from the start? it doesn't sound like it, but the way its described seems like it would be. is this a cryptic question? hah i hope not...

  • You can set the sample start and end position with the locators in the load sample box.

The height (or velocity) of the trigger bars determines where, between your locators, the sample will start on that particular beat.

Watch the video again and hopefully it will be clearer now!

  • this is great. thanks alot

  • I always use EXS24 for samples, even drums... IDK why, it just seems easier. Also, how can you not "full view" ?!?! man, I guess logic is so versitile everybody uses it different.

  • There is a button in the bottom right corner of Ultrabeat that allows you to toggle full screen on and off.

  • @pointblankonline

lol I know, but I meant as in, how can you work like that? I guess it's more profesional tbh, I'm just a noob ;]

  • You're right there are hundreds of different ways to achieve the same result in Logic and everyone has their own ways of working. Full view is great for laying down beats and the other view is really useful for tweaking parameters on individual samples such as the envelope and pitch.

  • @pointblankonline

Yeah, the extent of my sound tweakery is normaly just Space dsn. and chan eq. though lol

  • Nice Tutorial...also nice on any other sample, like a long pad or something...this method works also with the simpler in ableton live...simple but powerfull method

  • Thanks. Just what I was looking for.I'm still a bit confused over the mod envelopes. The Attack and Decay Time and Shape modulated by Velocity ( slider ). Great tutorial .

  • great stuff, really useful.

  • Are there any other VST's or Plug Ins which can do this same effect but for use in say Cubase or Pro Tools rather than Logic?

  • gdub -

Native Instruments Kontakt allows you to do it. If you're on Cubase/protools for PC the free VST plugin 'Glitch' does this too

  • Hey thanks for the reply man, i have both of those so ill check it out later. Your tutorials are amongst the best on youtube by the way.

  • Thanks! Glad you are finding them useful.

  • Great video, loved the second sample. So good to see how its done.

  • Yes! I've been looking the best way to do this. Thanks.

  • going from Reason and FL, how hard would it be to learn Logic?

  • try garage band first, then it'll be easy to go to logic express, then eventually upgrade to pro.

  • I actually acquired Logic Pro a few months ago, and its really not that hard. Thanks though! ^_^

  • this is ace, nice one, thankyou very much j

  • wonderful :|

  • hi fantastic video , you guys know a video how to learn creating loops with ultrabeat ?

I play rock so I need to create verse ,choruses and rolls .

    Thanks

  • yea that was interesting, I must you the drag'n drop samples to build patterns

  • cool man !!

  • nice video - thanks, - James

  • What this video is best at is showing how to experiment efficiently and effectively.
