if all Ichigo did was use his speed to dodge Byakuya with his defenseive capabilities the fight would never end so Ichigo has to neutralize at least some of his bankai to defeat him ( just what i think of course)

@Bluestuff111 his bankai increases all his physical aspects as well as the strength of his getsuga ( or at least thats what i think. I know it increases speed at least) but what point is there in moving really fast when you dont have to. Ichigo had no real control over his bankai at that point. so i agree with @oldhamj12

@boredwan well yea, but as u see when he uses it with his mask agaisnt grimmjow,ulquirroa and other arrancars, he's able to deflect their hollow based attacks and have enough speed in time to counter attack
