  • I have this comp, 6core 8gb 460w power.. Has AMD Radeon™ HD 6770 not 5450.... I want To upgrade the 6770 and i dont know what to get. looking for 100-150$ any ideas?

  • This is a great pc, even for gaming. I play team fortress2 on almost max setting with 35 fps, but if you want a newer bigger game, you gotta get a better graphics card.

  • @PCextras I play team fortress 2 on max settings and I get over 40 fps. My computer is a $300 Dell Inspiron 620s.

    The specs are:

Intel Pentium Daul Core 2.60 Ghz Processor

    4 Gbs of ram

500 gb of hard drive space

and the sucky Intel HD 2000 graphics

  • Do you know if its good for recording and editing videos into 720p?

  • I think building a pc would be better

  • Is there a warranty sticker inside or anywhere on the case? Normally on the desktops I've had in the past they are on the outside. Are they attatched inside to where I can't see it? I don't want to ruin my warranty.

  • @JEBell96 I don't think so - I didn't have any issues opening up the case.

  • Hey im hoping someone can help me, im interested in getting into PC gaming, mainly to play BF3. my computer isnt capable of running it, or any game for that matter. i was talking to a Dell rep and he suggested that i buy a XPS 7100 with a AMD Phenom™ II X6 1055T + ATI Radeon™ HD 6670 1GB Microsoft® Office Home and Student 2010 6GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz - 4 DIMMS 1TB - 7200RPM, SATA 3.0Gb/s, 16MB Cache. Can anyone tell me what this all means, and if it will run BF3?

  • @dtapia92 definetly

  • @dtapia92 That would kill BF3. I think it will run it at about High settings at about 40-50 FPS!

  • Can this case fit a gtx 560, or a hd 6870?

  • Im planning on getting a new pc for mostly gaming and lets just say i dont know everything about computers lol, so is this good for running games like battlefield, call of duty and other games like that if i upgrade the graphics card? I would like NO lag and high graphics. If this isnt a good comp for that can someone suggest one that is for under like... lets say $800-750 give or take?

  • how do you open the cover ? i want to upgrade my graphics card P.S Any sugesstions on graphics card?? thanks :)

  • @triner157 You mean the case itself? I think there were one or two thumbscrews on the back that you take off, then the side of the case comes up. In terms of which graphics card, that depends on budget - but don't go too crazy or you'll need a bigger power supply. :-)

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia Thanks finally got it open

  • why did you get that pimped up processor but not that high end of a graphics card?

  • @loves0to0splooge Did you watch the video? I bought it for content editing/workstation tasks, not gaming.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia gotchya, that makes sense. Guess i missed it in the video. im 15 and on a budget so i went with basically stock everything. but, since this vid is a little old i guess, the entry level graphics card you can get now is 6450. i spent $550 on mine and i plan on upgrading the graphics for sure

  • i got this with 8 gig ram and upgraded graphics card

  • Whats the best videocard for the price on dells website for this thing?

  • Yea the new ones are 549 thinking of getting

  • This computer now has 6450 GPU. Plays Minecraft on max settings flawlessly even with Fraps running. My bro just bought one for under $600.

I played the Flight Simulator X demo on my XPS 8300 with the same GPU and surprisingly it played really smooth.

  • cmon i have a dual core with a 4650 and i get around 60-100 fps :/

  • If I get an AMD Phenom x6 1055t with ATI Radeon 6670, Will I be able to get 125 - 250 FPS max settings?

  • @TheSandyNub all you need is medium settings,it'll easyily do 250 fps

  • @TheSandyNub It's all dependant on resolution. If you want to game at 800 x 600 you can probably get 500fps. ;-)

  • Why is it weird that we ask that? We are going to spend around $1000 on it...

  • @Cyclonesoccer12 Ask what? What are you referring to?

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia Im refering to 1:16

  • @Cyclonesoccer12 It's like asking if a computer can run MS Paint. 1080p is easy for any modern desktop computer.

    - Jason

  • what the hell are those scores in the beginning out of of?

  • @Harleysville21 On Windows 7, they're out of a maximum of 7.9.

    - Jason

  • u can't even get the 5450 anymore the lowest u can get is 6450

  • how are you getting that bad fps? I have a amd x2 dual core and nvidia 9800gt and i run cod 4 at all textures on extra and AAx4 plus everything else on max and i get 50-80 fps

  • I have the option for this: AMD Phenom™ II X4 945 + ATI Radeon™ HD 6450 1GB - Is the graphics card better than the one you have? If so, by how much?

  • Processor AMD Phenom™ II X4 945 + ATI Radeon™ HD 6450 1GB Operating System Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-Bit Monitor No Monitor Memory* 4GB* Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1333MHz Hard Drive 1000GB* SATA hard drive (7200RPM) Video Card 1024MB ATI RadeonTM HD6450 do u think I could run wow cataclysm on fair settings with these specs and battlefield 2 quake 4 ..... U get it ??????
  • im about to buy a dell , switching from years and years of being an hp/compaq user and your review helped me a lot, thank you, im leaning more towards the XPS 9100 will that be a better buy than this system??

  • Studio XPS 7100 Minitower

    Studio 7100 Phenom II X6 1090T (3.2 GHz)

    ATI Radeon HD5670 1GB GDDR5

    AMD Vision Ultimate Label

    8GB DDR3 SDRAM,1333MHz, 4x2GB

1TB Serial ATA 2 Hard Drive 7200 RPM

    Windows 7 ultimate

Do you think I can run any game on full settings?

  • is the radeon 6670 graphics card good ???

  • is 6670 radeon good ???

  • Would the 5760 be okay for css?

  • all fps run of this :)

  • Would GTA4 run good on this?

  • how well would cs5 master suite run on this cpu?

  • I'm thinking of getting this pc. If I remove the graphics card and go with the onboard will games like modern warfare work fine?

  • i need help, what is a good Desktop to buy for gaming, i play MMORPG's and FPS like WoW or Combat Arms.

  • @Talk2AzizJr well for cba my crappy computer can run it just fine so building a good one will run this great

  • So all this needs to be a hard-core gamerig is a new graphicsgard?

  • Can I run Crysis 2 in this?

  • How would yoube able to disable the dell dock?

  • hi would this be good for running wow ?, im not too fussed about graphics as long as i can run wow and use fraps ? or would XPS 8300 Desktop dell be better ?

  • Hey can I ask would the Radeon HD 5870 be good?

  • its selling for 500$ now i might get it

  • @robohobo38 No definitely, Dell probably makes some of the best pre-built PC's out there, definitely better than HP from what I've son, I'll take a Mac over anything except for gaming tho.

  • I've got one with the ATI Radeoh HD 5780!

  • so could the Radeon HD 5450 do cod blackops with some occasional lag or maybe cod world at war

  • Would this be good if i played homefront on it?

  • so would this rune borderlands and mw2?

  • @NickBello45

    I got a ATI 5670 also a XPS 7100.

I can play Very High/Ultra High settings (1440x900) with 25-30 fps.

The 5870 is pretty powerfull. It will do the job.

I also have some videos from the Dell XPS. Check my channel.

  • Is the Radeon HD 5450 graphics card got good quality.

  • @zDazLeR The 5450 isn't bad, but it's not high-end either. It's a budget card.

    - Jason

  • @zDazLeR

It depends on what you want to do with it . If your aiming for high end gaming ( Crysis , Modern Warfare , GTA IV ) I would try to go with at least a HD 5670 . Lower gaming like your typical MMO's ( WoW , DCU Online , Guild Wars ) the 5450 is fine and it will give you medium settings on alot of other games .

  • @zDazLeR just get the 5570

  • why did you return it.

  • @zDazLeR In the end I decided that my Lian Li case and custom rig was due for an upgrade instead of replacing the whole thing; I'd worked really hard to make it ultra-quiet and upgrading the motherboard + CPU + RAM was a better choice.

    - Jason

  • Would the Radeon Hd 4200 Graphics card do some good graphics.

  • @zDazLeR No. The Radeon HD 4200 is old and slow.

    - Jason

  • you sound like Chilla Frilla

  • what version of this should i get? all i really want to do is run a minecraft server with mods and play on far render distance, and edit 720p video with Avid studio.

  • I just ordered this computer with the 3.2x6 Core processor, a ATI Radeon HD 5870, 8gb of Ram, and a 21.5 inch-monitor, how well is this for gaming? I really want to play Crysis on Very High, is it doable?

  • is a ATI Radeon HD 5700 Good?

  • mine has roughly the same specs, except a 1TB HDD, dunno about anything else. but mine was £700-£800, but when i run cod4 with fraps i get 60FPS :)

  • @JetBird10 lol yes. You could probably play on the highest settings too.

  • Whoops meant to say it;s on sale at dell

  • Hurry this is a really good computer and it's on sale for $699 on bestbuy.com!

  • Is this a good computer for good graphics on (FLIGHT SIMULATOR X)

  • @zDazLeR LOL totally

  • Would this be a good computer for World of warcraft?

  • If I get the same specs, except 8gb of ram, instead of 6.. and hd5770 instead hd5450, will this have a significant improvement on gaming performance, or is it a waste of money??

  • @MdxIxbM There will definately be a difference in speed if you get 8GB of RAM. Although I'm not sure, I think the 5770 performs much better than the 5450.

  • @MdxIxbM Yes, that video card would give you a boost in gaming performance - 6 GB vs. 8 GB would not.

    - Jason

  • @ukgamez That's 1 GB of RAM on the VIDEO CARD, not the system. :-)

    - Jason

  • I have this system, but when i render 2 minutes video.

this take 1 hour to render.

    please help!!!!!!!

what can i do??? should i return it

  • @TheSnydeer I suspect it's something you're doing wrong with the video settings. What video editing application are you using? Try using default settings. This thing should RIP through video quite quickly with six cores.

    - Jason

  • Did you buy that monitor with the pc? because I am buying this PC as well very soon along with a monitor with it during customization. If you did, which one did you pick. I'm wondering which one will look like that. Thank you!

  • @iFayt9034 No, I didn't buy a monitor with the system.

    - Jason

  • @iFayt9034 i just bought this system and I went with a monitor from newegg dot com. you get a better monitor for the money that way. If u game get a monitor with 2ms response time. I chose a Asus

  • Hi Jason, great review. The Dell xps 8300 came out this month and I can not find reviews or opinions on it anywhere. I am strongly considering buying it but probably not without a review. I won't be buying until march so I was wondering what you would think of maybe doing a review on it? There is currently nothing out there on it and I would think you would like to seize the opportunity to be first. I know a lot of people who would like to know about this new system because it is the cheapest t

  • @zephyr4813 (sorry I got cut off because I was on my ipod) Anyway, it is the cheapest new system with the new sandy bridge processors. If you did it would be great. For your consideration, thanks.

  • @zephyr4813 No, I doubt I'll be reviewing the XPS 8300.

    - Jason

  • Helped a lot, thanks.

  • hello im planing to buy this cpu the only thing is im wondering what graphics card to get because i want to use it for some gaming but i dont want it to lag and i want the graphics to be decent would a 5450 or 5670 be better which is the diffrence because im not sure if i want to bump up 80 bucks for the 5770 what is your opinion ... thanks!

  • @thecrazygun2 im happy with the 5450, but might end up getting a stronger graphic card, all i do is play lotro, but if you wanna get into like black ops and such then i suggest maybe a 5770 or even maybe the nvidia GT 9000,, lol! the more expensive the card is, the better

  • @thecrazygun2 sorry i meant get this one "nvidia geforce 9800 gt"

  • @Ysumguy i ended up getting the 5670 card because i watched videos and you can run decent games on decent quality

  • what and where is the dedicated GPU on the xps 7100? im sorry im not really good with comps........well anyways you said that there were two slots (on for the mother board and the other for the graphic card, but i dont know where to connect the hdmi on my monitor to................

  • @Ysumguy The graphics card, if you have one (you should) is in the lower part of the chassis; the cards run horizontally - watch my unboxing video for the details.

    - Jason

  • should i connect my hdmi to the mother board slot or to the graphics card slot?

  • @Ysumguy Always use the dedicated GPU as the first option.

    - Jason

  • ive got this cxomputer and its very loud from inside the box

  • @ThrustGameplay Very loud? Something's wrong then, because this is not a loud computer in any way. Check what's making the noise; maybe you have a bad fan.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia i am not sure what it is actually, sounds like a little ticking noise from the hardrive or something in there. i checked the fan doesint seem to be that

  • @ThrustGameplay Could be a hard drive about to fail then...better have a backup! I'd call Dell though no matter what.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia Thanks for your help, i should call dell to see whats going up with it, its also new so i dont have a clue lol. but thanks for your help

  • hey quick question i was wondering if you experienced any overheating with the tower and how loud is the cpu fan noise? im debating whether to get this or just have a custom built computer that i already have laid out

  • @ixKiiNGz No overheating that I saw. As for noise, when the CPU is under max load, it gets a little noisy if I recall. Not bad though - nowhere near as bad as the Intel Core i7-based XPS I bought then returned about a year ago. Personally, I returned the XPS 7100 and upgraded my own custom system...so I'm a bit biased toward custom systems, but they do usually end up costing more overall.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia thanks :] i think im just going to stick with the custom pc!

  • can this computer play steam games like garrys mod and half life and team fortress 2???

  • Hi i have a question,

I'm currently trying to build a home recording studio for my music

and i want a high performance desktop for under $1,000

do you think that this would be a good computer to download the various software i want to use and the MIDI inputs?

  • @sowrongitsjason Yes, it would work fine - especially if you're audio software is multi-core friendly...

    - Jason

  • I got a question.. im new to amd always followed intel.. so I was wondering what is the diff when it says AMD anthlon ll X4 630 opposed to AMD phenom ll X4 945?

And I was planning on buying the anthlon x4 630 with a ati radeon 5770 would that be good?

    -thanks

  • @Lokes1890 If you do a Web search for both of those product names, you'll find the answer you seek. I'm not an on-call search engine. :-) The Athlon is an older CPU, the Phenom is a newer one.

    - Jason

  • if you just reaaly hate the graphics you van change it.

  • One simple question i have a oldschool 2001 sony vaio thats reached is potential. I wanna upgrade and mostly will use it for everyday regular use, and gaming. Is it worth it to casual game, not tryna buy a super xps or alienware pc :D, thanks

  • @Lokes1890 Wow. A Sony Vaio from 2001? This would be about 20x better in every way. :-) It's a great all-around computer.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia Lol i Know man thats what I said when I realized how old this thing is, its time to give her a rest. THanks for the tip, really looking forward to purchasing this soon

  • Will The XPS 7100 work well On Team Fortress 2?

  • @Archimedes341 yea, i have the same computer and run tf2 maxed out, but i would upgrade the video card to a 5670 or 5770.

  • do u know how this is in comparison to the Dell Studio XPS 8100? because i've been hearing mixed reviews about the 8100. i'm assuming that it's the next version because it has a higher # than the 7100 & is more expensive. but is it actually better or worse?

  • @aznperson84 There is no comparison, because the 8100 uses an Intel CPU and chipset, so it's a completely different computer. You can think of the XPS 7100 as being the "budget" XPS computer though, because that's what it is.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia so if u had to choose between the 2 which 1 would u get? if u had to keep it i mean. also, would u recommend buying a comp b4 or after xmas? because right now dell.com is having a sale but i'm wondering if it'll be even lower in January.

  • @aznperson84 Get the best computer you can afford; that's always the best advice. Though I would say that unless you need a computer right away, I'd wait a bit. Intel is unleashing a new series of CPUs early next year, code named "Sandy Bridge", and Dell is usually quite fast about getting new CPUs into their machines. These new CPUs should offer a significant performance bump over current CPUs...

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia will the new processors increase the cost of the current desktops? and will they be included / put in the current models like the xps 7100? or will they be exclusive for the newer models being rolled out? i don't need a comp right away. but in general, based on past sales, is it more affordable b4 or after xmas. i mean what's the furthest u have seen a desktop go down? and how early next year would be best?

  • @aznperson84 Your'e asking me questions that are impossible to answer. I'm not the Oracle at Delphi. :-) Do what you think is best for your needs.

    - Jason

  • @aznperson84 heres the difference the XPS 7100s is all AMD chips the 8100s is all Intel Chips and the 9100's is a rip off because the i7 920 chip is not that good and the only option is to get a chip higher than that which is not worth it so it just depends what chip you want.

  • Why is this computer so cheap?

  • @cubeface21 AMD chips are cheaper than Intel chips - that's the biggest reason. It's also a bit of a more "budget" chassis than some of the Intel-based XPS units.

    - Jason

  • @Makeufamous I want to help you out here. The Mac is SO expensive. Get this.

    I just ordered it today:

    5670 1 gb

    8 gb ddr3

    1 tb hdd

    6 core phenom 3 ghz

I did price comparison, since my mom ordered mac, checked specs - not even comparible.

  • can i run a HACKINGTOSH with this?

  • @xDRiiiMz No clue. You'd have to do the research to find out; it seems the Hackintosh stuff is really hit or miss...

    - Jason

  • Can this run fsx to a decent level? And if so how much ram would you recomend 4,6 or8 gb. Also what gpu would be best for fsx vision ultimate or vision black? Obviously the better one vision black would be better but if I can max out the settings on the vision ultimate that would be cheaper for me

  • @Makeufamous That's an impossible question for anyone to answer other than you. I do know that you can get an XPS 7100 and a 27" monitor for less than the 27" iMac would set you back, but all in one computers do have some advantages. It depends if you're the kind of person that will want to upgrade the computer later.

    - Jason

  • so the only reason you did not keep it is for the usb?

  • @yoshi92491 No, it was for financial reasons.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia How much power does the system have?

  • @G2G998 it has a 460 watt power supply unit (from either delta, ac bel, and some third manufacturer i cant remember)

  • @wingedpaner00 so itd wise to upgrade its power

  • @G2G998 yeah it would be wise to upgrade its power supply unit. however dell is notorious for using non standard parts, so if you stick in your own psu(power supply unit) u could fry the whole system. ive got a corsair 650w psu sitting next to my xps7100, im just afraid to stick it in, incase it gets fried and dells says i voided the warranty. will definately build my own system next time

  • @G2G998 by the way that psu included in mine is a bel ac. did some research on it and found it only delivers 350 watts, not the advertised 460 (acording to some site that tested it). so basically im running a 5870 on 350w psu:(

  • @ThoughtsMedia hey i got a quote for this computer for about 2,000 dollars but i got everything wit it thats why its so expensive but dell won't let me finance wit em what could i do?everybody i know has bad credit :( PLEASE HELP

  • @HHETVSH0W dude wait till they put this on sale again. they were selling these for $1100 in june. what do you need to use this for? gaming? recording?

have u considered building ur own pc? that's what most people start doing.

  • @HHETVSH0W Buy what you can afford, nothing more. Saving is better than financing; financing is buying beyond your budget, which should only be done in very rare circumstances. But I'm a geek, not a financial advisor, so that's just my 2 cents. :-)

    - Jason

  • Would this work well with flight simulator?

  • im going to buy this but i have ONE QUESTION: is it possible to put another grafics card in after you bought it ?

  • @moJWZ Of course.

  • do you think a Samsung P2770FH 27-Inch Full HD LCD Monitor Rose Black would work well with this desktop ?

  • @narutocaprirequest2 Sure, of course. Why wouldn't it? :-)

    - Jason

  • Would this desktop work fine with the adobe cs5 master collection softwares???? what about with editing softwares like avid media composer?

  • @Mrthenitoman Yes, it would excel at all of those apps.

    - Jason

  • @ThoughtsMedia Thank You :)

  • Would this be good for home recoding?

  • @SonicGamer1991 I'll copy and paste an answer to this question that I've already given:

"Yes, it would work superbly for audio production - though I'm not 100% sure if you'll want a dedicated sound card or not. I guess if it's all digital, there's no signa/noise problems with analogue input/output...so assuming that's not a problem, then yeah, this would shred with six cores and 6 GB RAM."

    - Jason

  • Can it run BattleToads?

  • Hey I if I use the

    AMD Phenom™ II X6 1090T Processor (3.2GHz,9MB,6C)

    8GB (4X2GB) DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz Memory

    1GB ATI Radeon™ HD 5870 Graphics

Will it be able to run that Modern Warfare 2 finely?

  • @hickon323 Thats overkill for MW2, Heck that setup can play crysis on at least high

  • @gmaster45612374 overkill? means that i can sure play Modern Warfare 2 without lag and on high settings?

  • @hickon323 Yes

  • @hickon323 hoooo yeah dude.. ATI 5870 will run it no prob to the max

  • i dont know many computers on the market right now, but i have been looking at this computer but im probably going to do dell's customize option, ill be running programs like photoshop for school work, as well as gaming, nothing to hardcore like call of duty or what not more like the online games like wow or star wars the old republic comes out is would i be able to run this stuff good?? thanks in advance

  • So i am thinkking to buy this im getting the radeon hd 5450 and i just wanted to know if it would play newer games and stuff , im not a super big gamer but i like to once in a while

  • @TheFood2eat The 5450 is a pretty low-end card, so for casual gaming, it would be OK...but not at 1920 x 1080 resolution. You'd have to ratchet down the resolution to get things to be playable.

    - Jason

  • @TheFood2eat yehh choose mine 5870!

  • Say I buy this, but upgrade the processor/graphics card to the AMD Phenom™ II X6 1045T + ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB. Will that be sufficient for a decent gaming rig?

  • @AnAmericanDude Yes, a 5870 should be decent for up to 1920 x 1080 resolution gaming.

    - Jason

  • @AnAmericanDude Yeah, ATI Radeon 5870 is currently one of the fastest gaming graphics card. Most games you can max out.

  • can you add a second graphics card?

  • @JoeyStormz This question has been asked, and answered, multiple times below.

    - Jason

  • Very nice and detail review. I always like video review .

    Thanks

  • You said you were going to return the computer, but you never said why?? Why do you want to return the computer?? thanxx
