I have this comp, 6core 8gb 460w power.. Has AMD Radeon™ HD 6770 not 5450.... I want To upgrade the 6770 and i dont know what to get. looking for 100-150$ any ideas?
This is a great pc, even for gaming. I play team fortress2 on almost max setting with 35 fps, but if you want a newer bigger game, you gotta get a better graphics card.
Is there a warranty sticker inside or anywhere on the case? Normally on the desktops I've had in the past they are on the outside. Are they attatched inside to where I can't see it? I don't want to ruin my warranty.

Im planning on getting a new pc for mostly gaming and lets just say i dont know everything about computers lol, so is this good for running games like battlefield, call of duty and other games like that if i upgrade the graphics card? @triner157 You mean the case itself? I think there were one or two thumbscrews on the back that you take off, then the side of the case comes up. In terms of which graphics card, that depends on budget - but don't go too crazy or you'll need a bigger power supply. :-)

im about to buy a dell , switching from years and years of being an hp/compaq user and your review helped me a lot, thank you, im leaning more towards the XPS 9100 will that be a better buy than this system??
hi would this be good for running wow ?, im not too fussed about graphics as long as i can run wow and use fraps ? or would XPS 8300 Desktop dell be better ?
@robohobo38 No definitely, Dell probably makes some of the best pre-built PC's out there, definitely better than HP from what I've son, I'll take a Mac over anything except for gaming tho.
It depends on what you want to do with it . If your aiming for high end gaming ( Crysis , Modern Warfare , GTA IV ) I would try to go with at least a HD 5670 . @zephyr4813 (sorry I got cut off because I was on my ipod) Anyway, it is the cheapest new system with the new sandy bridge processors. If you did it would be great. For your consideration, thanks.
hello im planing to buy this cpu the only thing is im wondering what graphics card to get because i want to use it for some gaming but i dont want it to lag and i want the graphics to be decent would a 5450 or 5670 be better which is the diffrence because im not sure if i want to bump up 80 bucks for the 5770 what is your opinion ... thanks!
@thecrazygun2 im happy with the 5450, but might end up getting a stronger graphic card, all i do is play lotro, but if you wanna get into like black ops and such then i suggest maybe a 5770 or even maybe the nvidia GT 9000,, lol! the more expensive the card is, the better
what and where is the dedicated GPU on the xps 7100? im sorry im not really good with comps........well anyways you said that there were two slots (on for the mother board and the other for the graphic card, but i dont know where to connect the hdmi on my monitor to................
@Ysumguy The graphics card, if you have one (you should) is in the lower part of the chassis; the cards run horizontally - watch my unboxing video for the details.
@ThrustGameplay Very loud? Something's wrong then, because this is not a loud computer in any way. Check what's making the noise; maybe you have a bad fan.
@ThoughtsMedia i am not sure what it is actually, sounds like a little ticking noise from the hardrive or something in there. i checked the fan doesint seem to be that
@ThoughtsMedia Thanks for your help, i should call dell to see whats going up with it, its also new so i dont have a clue lol. but thanks for your help
hey quick question i was wondering if you experienced any overheating with the tower and how loud is the cpu fan noise? im debating whether to get this or just have a custom built computer that i already have laid out
@ixKiiNGz No overheating that I saw. As for noise, when the CPU is under max load, it gets a little noisy if I recall. Not bad though - nowhere near as bad as the Intel Core i7-based XPS I bought then returned about a year ago. Personally, I returned the XPS 7100 and upgraded my own custom system...so I'm a bit biased toward custom systems, but they do usually end up costing more overall.
I got a question.. im new to amd always followed intel.. so I was wondering what is the diff when it says AMD anthlon ll X4 630 opposed to AMD phenom ll X4 945?
And I was planning on buying the anthlon x4 630 with a ati radeon 5770 would that be good?
@Lokes1890 If you do a Web search for both of those product names, you'll find the answer you seek. I'm not an on-call search engine. :-) The Athlon is an older CPU, the Phenom is a newer one.
One simple question i have a oldschool 2001 sony vaio thats reached is potential. I wanna upgrade and mostly will use it for everyday regular use, and gaming. Is it worth it to casual game, not tryna buy a super xps or alienware pc :D, thanks
@ThoughtsMedia Lol i Know man thats what I said when I realized how old this thing is, its time to give her a rest. THanks for the tip, really looking forward to purchasing this soon
do u know how this is in comparison to the Dell Studio XPS 8100? because i've been hearing mixed reviews about the 8100. i'm assuming that it's the next version because it has a higher # than the 7100 & is more expensive. but is it actually better or worse?
@aznperson84 There is no comparison, because the 8100 uses an Intel CPU and chipset, so it's a completely different computer. You can think of the XPS 7100 as being the "budget" XPS computer though, because that's what it is.
@ThoughtsMedia so if u had to choose between the 2 which 1 would u get? if u had to keep it i mean. also, would u recommend buying a comp b4 or after xmas? because right now dell.com is having a sale but i'm wondering if it'll be even lower in January.
@aznperson84 Get the best computer you can afford; that's always the best advice. Though I would say that unless you need a computer right away, I'd wait a bit. Intel is unleashing a new series of CPUs early next year, code named "Sandy Bridge", and Dell is usually quite fast about getting new CPUs into their machines. These new CPUs should offer a significant performance bump over current CPUs...
@ThoughtsMedia will the new processors increase the cost of the current desktops? and will they be included / put in the current models like the xps 7100? or will they be exclusive for the newer models being rolled out? i don't need a comp right away. but in general, based on past sales, is it more affordable b4 or after xmas. i mean what's the furthest u have seen a desktop go down? and how early next year would be best?
@aznperson84 heres the difference the XPS 7100s is all AMD chips the 8100s is all Intel Chips and the 9100's is a rip off because the i7 920 chip is not that good and the only option is to get a chip higher than that which is not worth it so it just depends what chip you want.
@cubeface21 AMD chips are cheaper than Intel chips - that's the biggest reason. It's also a bit of a more "budget" chassis than some of the Intel-based XPS units.
Can this run fsx to a decent level? And if so how much ram would you recomend 4,6 or8 gb. Also what gpu would be best for fsx vision ultimate or vision black? Obviously the better one vision black would be better but if I can max out the settings on the vision ultimate that would be cheaper for me
@Makeufamous That's an impossible question for anyone to answer other than you. I do know that you can get an XPS 7100 and a 27" monitor for less than the 27" iMac would set you back, but all in one computers do have some advantages. It depends if you're the kind of person that will want to upgrade the computer later.
@G2G998 yeah it would be wise to upgrade its power supply unit. however dell is notorious for using non standard parts, so if you stick in your own psu(power supply unit) u could fry the whole system. ive got a corsair 650w psu sitting next to my xps7100, im just afraid to stick it in, incase it gets fried and dells says i voided the warranty. will definately build my own system next time
@G2G998 by the way that psu included in mine is a bel ac. did some research on it and found it only delivers 350 watts, not the advertised 460 (acording to some site that tested it). so basically im running a 5870 on 350w psu:(
@ThoughtsMedia hey i got a quote for this computer for about 2,000 dollars but i got everything wit it thats why its so expensive but dell won't let me finance wit em what could i do?everybody i know has bad credit :( PLEASE HELP
@HHETVSH0W dude wait till they put this on sale again. they were selling these for $1100 in june. what do you need to use this for? gaming? recording?
have u considered building ur own pc? that's what most people start doing.
@HHETVSH0W Buy what you can afford, nothing more. Saving is better than financing; financing is buying beyond your budget, which should only be done in very rare circumstances. But I'm a geek, not a financial advisor, so that's just my 2 cents. :-)
@SonicGamer1991 I'll copy and paste an answer to this question that I've already given:
"Yes, it would work superbly for audio production - though I'm not 100% sure if you'll want a dedicated sound card or not. I guess if it's all digital, there's no signa/noise problems with analogue input/output...so assuming that's not a problem, then yeah, this would shred with six cores and 6 GB RAM."
@gmaster45612374 overkill? means that i can sure play Modern Warfare 2 without lag and on high settings? what if i changed it to AMD Phenom™ II X6 1055T Processor? can it still run crysis on at least high?
i dont know many computers on the market right now, but i have been looking at this computer but im probably going to do dell's customize option, ill be running programs like photoshop for school work, as well as gaming, nothing to hardcore like call of duty or what not more like the online games like wow or star wars the old republic comes out is would i be able to run this stuff good?? thanks in advance
So i am thinkking to buy this im getting the radeon hd 5450 and i just wanted to know if it would play newer games and stuff , im not a super big gamer but i like to once in a while
@TheFood2eat The 5450 is a pretty low-end card, so for casual gaming, it would be OK...but not at 1920 x 1080 resolution. You'd have to ratchet down the resolution to get things to be playable.
Say I buy this, but upgrade the processor/graphics card to the AMD Phenom™ II X6 1045T + ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB. Will that be sufficient for a decent gaming rig?
I have this comp, 6core 8gb 460w power.. Has AMD Radeon™ HD 6770 not 5450.... I want To upgrade the 6770 and i dont know what to get. looking for 100-150$ any ideas?

hello im planing to buy this cpu the only thing is im wondering what graphics card to get because i want to use it for some gaming but i dont want it to lag and i want the graphics to be decent would a 5450 or 5670 be better which is the diffrence because im not sure if i want to bump up 80 bucks for the 5770 what is your opinion ... thanks!
thecrazygun2 1 year ago
@thecrazygun2 im happy with the 5450, but might end up getting a stronger graphic card, all i do is play lotro, but if you wanna get into like black ops and such then i suggest maybe a 5770 or even maybe the nvidia GT 9000,, lol! the more expensive the card is, the better
Ysumguy 1 year ago
@thecrazygun2 sorry i meant get this one "nvidia geforce 9800 gt"
Ysumguy 1 year ago
@Ysumguy i ended up getting the 5670 card because i watched videos and you can run decent games on decent quality

what and where is the dedicated GPU on the xps 7100? im sorry im not really good with comps........well anyways you said that there were two slots (on for the mother board and the other for the graphic card, but i dont know where to connect the hdmi on my monitor to................
Ysumguy 1 year ago
@Ysumguy The graphics card, if you have one (you should) is in the lower part of the chassis; the cards run horizontally - watch my unboxing video for the details.

should i connect my hdmi to the mother board slot or to the graphics card slot?
Ysumguy 1 year ago
@Ysumguy Always use the dedicated GPU as the first option.

ive got this cxomputer and its very loud from inside the box
ThrustGameplay 1 year ago
@ThrustGameplay Very loud? Something's wrong then, because this is not a loud computer in any way. Check what's making the noise; maybe you have a bad fan.
- Jason
ThoughtsMedia 1 year ago
@ThoughtsMedia i am not sure what it is actually, sounds like a little ticking noise from the hardrive or something in there. i checked the fan doesint seem to be that
ThrustGameplay 1 year ago
@ThrustGameplay Could be a hard drive about to fail then...better have a backup! I'd call Dell though no matter what.
- Jason
ThoughtsMedia 1 year ago
@ThoughtsMedia Thanks for your help, i should call dell to see whats going up with it, its also new so i dont have a clue lol. but thanks for your help
ThrustGameplay 1 year ago
hey quick question i was wondering if you experienced any overheating with the tower and how loud is the cpu fan noise? im debating whether to get this or just have a custom built computer that i already have laid out
ixKiiNGz 1 year ago
@ixKiiNGz No overheating that I saw. As for noise, when the CPU is under max load, it gets a little noisy if I recall. Not bad though - nowhere near as bad as the Intel Core i7-based XPS I bought then returned about a year ago. Personally, I returned the XPS 7100 and upgraded my own custom system...so I'm a bit biased toward custom systems, but they do usually end up costing more overall.
- Jason
ThoughtsMedia 1 year ago
@ThoughtsMedia thanks :] i think im just going to stick with the custom pc!

Hi i have a question,
I'm currently trying to build a home recording studio for my music
and i want a high performance desktop for under $1,000
do you think that this would be a good computer to download the various software i want to use and the MIDI inputs?
sowrongitsjason 1 year ago
@sowrongitsjason Yes, it would work fine - especially if you're audio software is multi-core friendly...

I got a question.. im new to amd always followed intel.. so I was wondering what is the diff when it says AMD anthlon ll X4 630 opposed to AMD phenom ll X4 945?
And I was planning on buying the anthlon x4 630 with a ati radeon 5770 would that be good?
-thanks
Lokes1890 1 year ago
@Lokes1890 If you do a Web search for both of those product names, you'll find the answer you seek. I'm not an on-call search engine. :-) The Athlon is an older CPU, the Phenom is a newer one.

One simple question i have a oldschool 2001 sony vaio thats reached is potential. I wanna upgrade and mostly will use it for everyday regular use, and gaming. Is it worth it to casual game, not tryna buy a super xps or alienware pc :D, thanks
Lokes1890 1 year ago
@Lokes1890 Wow. A Sony Vaio from 2001? This would be about 20x better in every way. :-) It's a great all-around computer.

Will The XPS 7100 work well On Team Fortress 2?
Archimedes341 1 year ago
@Archimedes341 yea, i have the same computer and run tf2 maxed out, but i would upgrade the video card to a 5670 or 5770.
maxsonly 1 year ago
do u know how this is in comparison to the Dell Studio XPS 8100? because i've been hearing mixed reviews about the 8100. i'm assuming that it's the next version because it has a higher # than the 7100 & is more expensive. but is it actually better or worse?
aznperson84 1 year ago
@aznperson84 There is no comparison, because the 8100 uses an Intel CPU and chipset, so it's a completely different computer. You can think of the XPS 7100 as being the "budget" XPS computer though, because that's what it is.
- Jason
ThoughtsMedia 1 year ago
@ThoughtsMedia so if u had to choose between the 2 which 1 would u get? if u had to keep it i mean. also, would u recommend buying a comp b4 or after xmas? because right now dell.com is having a sale but i'm wondering if it'll be even lower in January.
aznperson84 1 year ago
@aznperson84 Get the best computer you can afford; that's always the best advice. Though I would say that unless you need a computer right away, I'd wait a bit. Intel is unleashing a new series of CPUs early next year, code named "Sandy Bridge", and Dell is usually quite fast about getting new CPUs into their machines. These new CPUs should offer a significant performance bump over current CPUs...
- Jason
ThoughtsMedia 1 year ago
@ThoughtsMedia will the new processors increase the cost of the current desktops? and will they be included / put in the current models like the xps 7100? or will they be exclusive for the newer models being rolled out? i don't need a comp right away. but in general, based on past sales, is it more affordable b4 or after xmas. i mean what's the furthest u have seen a desktop go down? and how early next year would be best?
aznperson84 1 year ago
@aznperson84 Your'e asking me questions that are impossible to answer. I'm not the Oracle at Delphi. :-) Do what you think is best for your needs.
- Jason
ThoughtsMedia 1 year ago
@aznperson84 heres the difference the XPS 7100s is all AMD chips the 8100s is all Intel Chips and the 9100's is a rip off because the i7 920 chip is not that good and the only option is to get a chip higher than that which is not worth it so it just depends what chip you want.
totalaero 1 year ago
Why is this computer so cheap?
cubeface21 1 year ago
@cubeface21 AMD chips are cheaper than Intel chips - that's the biggest reason. It's also a bit of a more "budget" chassis than some of the Intel-based XPS units.

@Makeufamous I want to help you out here. The Mac is SO expensive. Get this.
I just ordered it today:
5670 1 gb
8 gb ddr3
1 tb hdd
6 core phenom 3 ghz
I did price comparison, since my mom ordered mac, checked specs - not even comparible.

Can this run fsx to a decent level? And if so how much ram would you recomend 4,6 or8 gb. Also what gpu would be best for fsx vision ultimate or vision black? Obviously the better one vision black would be better but if I can max out the settings on the vision ultimate that would be cheaper for me
fireisgreat 1 year ago
@Makeufamous That's an impossible question for anyone to answer other than you. I do know that you can get an XPS 7100 and a 27" monitor for less than the 27" iMac would set you back, but all in one computers do have some advantages. It depends if you're the kind of person that will want to upgrade the computer later.

@ThoughtsMedia How much power does the system have?
G2G998 1 year ago
@G2G998 it has a 460 watt power supply unit (from either delta, ac bel, and some third manufacturer i cant remember)
wingedpaner00 1 year ago
@wingedpaner00 so itd wise to upgrade its power
G2G998 1 year ago
@G2G998 yeah it would be wise to upgrade its power supply unit. however dell is notorious for using non standard parts, so if you stick in your own psu(power supply unit) u could fry the whole system. ive got a corsair 650w psu sitting next to my xps7100, im just afraid to stick it in, incase it gets fried and dells says i voided the warranty. will definately build my own system next time
wingedpaner00 1 year ago
@G2G998 by the way that psu included in mine is a bel ac. did some research on it and found it only delivers 350 watts, not the advertised 460 (acording to some site that tested it). so basically im running a 5870 on 350w psu:(

@ThoughtsMedia hey i got a quote for this computer for about 2,000 dollars but i got everything wit it thats why its so expensive but dell won't let me finance wit em what could i do?everybody i know has bad credit :( PLEASE HELP
HHETVSH0W 1 year ago
@HHETVSH0W dude wait till they put this on sale again. they were selling these for $1100 in june. what do you need to use this for? gaming? recording?
have u considered building ur own pc? that's what most people start doing.
wingedpaner00 1 year ago
@HHETVSH0W Buy what you can afford, nothing more. Saving is better than financing; financing is buying beyond your budget, which should only be done in very rare circumstances. But I'm a geek, not a financial advisor, so that's just my 2 cents. :-)

Would this be good for home recoding?
SonicGamer1991 1 year ago
@SonicGamer1991 I'll copy and paste an answer to this question that I've already given:
"Yes, it would work superbly for audio production - though I'm not 100% sure if you'll want a dedicated sound card or not. I guess if it's all digital, there's no signa/noise problems with analogue input/output...so assuming that's not a problem, then yeah, this would shred with six cores and 6 GB RAM."

So i am thinkking to buy this im getting the radeon hd 5450 and i just wanted to know if it would play newer games and stuff , im not a super big gamer but i like to once in a while
TheFood2eat 1 year ago
@TheFood2eat The 5450 is a pretty low-end card, so for casual gaming, it would be OK...but not at 1920 x 1080 resolution. You'd have to ratchet down the resolution to get things to be playable.
- Jason
ThoughtsMedia 1 year ago
@TheFood2eat yehh choose mine 5870!
hickon323 1 year ago
Say I buy this, but upgrade the processor/graphics card to the AMD Phenom™ II X6 1045T + ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB. Will that be sufficient for a decent gaming rig?
AnAmericanDude 1 year ago
@AnAmericanDude Yes, a 5870 should be decent for up to 1920 x 1080 resolution gaming.
- Jason

@AnAmericanDude Yeah, ATI Radeon 5870 is currently one of the fastest gaming graphics card. Most games you can max out.
