Thankyou,Aaron1912,for your reply. I apologise for making pompous comments about this
record-I am not a trained musician so I may be way off the mark, but I have collected 20's and 30's jazz, dance music and swing since I was a boy of 13 and I am now 59 ! I appreciate the trouble that people such as yourself have gone to in making this music available to a wider audience.
This tune survived into 1932, when The Ramblers recorded it in Holland in a sort of stiffish embryonic swing style. (I doubt any band in the US or Britain would have bothered.)

Although a popular band in London at the time the phrasing and solo work of this Starita outfit
is jerky and stilted, even by the standards of the time, which means it does not swing. It is not
helped by the public hall, rather flat recording. I used to have a record of this by Golden Gate
Dance Orch (California Ramblers) which does swing !

I like it. It has jazzy syncopation which was the style of the 1920's. Swing music didn't start until the 1930's.

Portions of this nifty record sound like swing before swing was popular

That's not the Starita band, that's Ben Bernie's Orchestra on an early 1925 film they did...

Why isn't there a time machine when you need one?! They had music - and TALENT - then!

I really admire the insertion of a film clip of a band playing into a still photo of London's Wigmore Hall. Brilliant!

One of my earliest 78 finds. Some records are just TOTALLY EXCELLENT and this is one of those records. Far better than my early upload.

The lyrics are what makes this song so I'm surprised there was no vocal. I have a recording of this song sung by Harry Richmond
