Can blockers 'attack' the ball though? Regarding 11.1 of the FIVB rulebook. Sounds like you have to at least wait til during the attacker's hit to even touch the ball on the other side of the net.
@Mirason when he says attack he's referring to the ideal blocking mentality or attitude, not the task of the blocker. he's saying that the blocker should not simply put their hands up to get in the way of the ball or to protect a certain area of the court, but should think of their job as a counter-attack, and should be trying to score points by putting up a robust, well placed, and well timed block. sounds good in theory doesnt it?

that's why setters come up with a good fake too.. like leaning back (not to do a back set) only to find out that they will set the ball to the open
