  • That thing I. HATED. About Homeworld. Fortunately the only.

  • Buy Homeworld 2 & download the full Universe Mod and you´ll become the happiest HW Gamer in the world ;-).

  • For Science and the Emperor!

  • Oh my goodness, I found HW, HW:C and HW2 and I'm replaying all three. Glorious!

  • I cant believe that theres 8 idiots that disliked this...... how? i just dont get it......

  • It's the most beautiful music in HW :)

  • This is a beautiful vid from a beautiful game...

I play one match against the comp every day in this awesome game, and i am doing a music video to right now as i write this =) .

You can find it on my profile in about 1-2 days .

Tho back to topic: This vid is crazy beautiful...

    fraps + sony vegas = Epic videos ! :)

  • It brings a tear to your eye :,)

  • this looks like an AWESOME game

    probably not a free game?

  • 3:17 DESTROYER INCOMING!!!

  • 3:24 Friendly fire!!! :P

  • ARE THOSE TAIDAAN MARKINGS?!!!!!

  • yes d^L^b

  • i love homeworls sroy, it is so epic... i love sci fi movies but there has never been one made with a story as good as homeworld.

  • So sad when Kharak was destroyed and this played ='(

  • Cataclysm was the best IMO.

    Also mothership launch.

  • I wish there was another game like this but with even better graphics, it would make for some great music videos.

  • this reminded me of how good Homeworld actually was 0_0 ...

    MUST PLAY IT AGAIN! :P

  • If you love this game but never played the first homeworld you HAVE to play it, the atmosphere of the first one is amazing and the storyline.

  • i agree

  • Hiigara - Our Homeworld !

  • Almighty Exiles From Earth... Now The Hiigaraans........ may we have a ultimate path and live on as Mankinds Angels and may the Vaygr Devils of Mankind Be crushed by their triumph...

  • why does the side come off that ship

  • I assume you talk about Mothership - the banana shaped one. Capital Ships produced by facility underneath the cover are so big that they cannot just fly from some hole in the ship, they are produced vertically, door opens, they are released, door closes.

In the vid there's carrier coming out

  • This is better than SOSE

  • Haven't played this game yet, but it looks alot like Sins of a Solar Empire.

  • It's completely different(and much better if you ask me, altough Sins of a solar empire is also a great game). This game(both Homeworld 1 and 2) is absolutely magnificent, awe inspiring.

  • HW2 is much more tactical and battles here are more dynamic... And still - HW2 is the only game in wich you can set movement in 3 dimentions, wich allows even more tactical maneuvers, ambushes and stuff... ))

  • Every time I hear the Adagio for strings three words echo in my mind: "Hiigara - Our Homeworld". So beautiful.

  • 3:24 friendly fire :D

The ion frigate is shooting friendly destroyer.

  • Great game. Great music.

  • I was wondering how you and all these other Homeworld Video makers have the graphics for this game looking so good? I got a good video/graphics card, and I turn every thing to high but it still doesn't look as nice and smooth as it does in these videos. What should I do?

  • it may just be the recording software

  • this game doesnt work on my comp becasue of the video card :<

  • lol those asteroids look like potatoes. No offence lol iam also Homeworld fan forever. The best strategy game eva

  • i still play that game just using mods that add more units and stuff :D... they doo look like potatoes

  • MODS for life! lol

  • yes MODS for life u played the game u beat it a million times but u haven't played the mods so in counting i have played all of the mods i have ever seen on the internet

  • HAHAHAHA! Were you hungry when you made that comment?

  • homeworld 1 was the best. homeworld 2 is still one of my favorite games tho

  • DEP SIERRA.... =(

  • nice job there. 5 stars.

  • I like the HW version better because its slower and seems more relaxing

  • This song is also from platoon (I love the movie and I love this song and you did a really good job)

  • the song is from homeworld though the video seems to be from homeworld:2

    loved the music

  • It's exactly as you say ;)

  • I know about this site. Mainly because i'm the owner :D.

I'm REALY glad you like it, though. Thank you!!!

  • THIS GAME IS TOO GOOD!!!!

  • i always cry when i listen to this music

  • supreme un clasico de estrategia es baccanisimo, daria lo que no tengo para jugarlo 1 vez mas

  • homeworld and homeworld 2 are amazing games

  • that's true, i still get a shiver running down my spine when i watch hw1 intro

  • yes and its also wery sad when you play 3rd level of homeworld.

  • I KNOW THIS SONG. Adagio for Strings. ¬_¬ Looks like somebody thought of using it.

  • Obviously, since it's the game's theme song.

  • Woops...That post was meant to be a reply to SpraxIAKS one.

  • I know this. >> And it's the first one's theme, not second.

  • The music to this is not Adagio for strings, it's Adagio for choir.

  • No, its title is "Adagio for Strings" and it is composed for choral performances

  • Like I said, this version is a choral version, not a string version...

  • my bad, wiki says it's for string orchestra, you're right, but only partially, "Adagio for strings" is a title, thus even performed by choir it's still adagio for strings

  • no no no. that one is called "agnus dei"

  • Homeworld Soundtrack track list says it's "Adagio for strings"

  • The song is Samuel barbers Agnus Dei, the choral/lyrical) arrangement of Adagio for Strings, they just didn't get the the name totally right on the soundtrack.

  • ay, and its even more evocative than the sting version imo. This is the kind of tune that reminds us of the power within the human voice.

  • after much deliberation i have desied empire (or the consortium)

  • unless they do something stupid (but funny) combine star wars with homeworld, as a fan thing like the empire vs. the vaygar that would make me laugh but give me the worst desition of my life....vaygar or empire

  • Sounds like something the fan community could do. There are already Babylon mods and the like.

  • that would be a nice plot, save for relics cancelling of the homeworld project was the last thing i heard from that side since hw2

  • "...they beat us..they escaped us...are..are we all that is left? we must...we must find a new home...brothers i swear to you we will live on(you know floating around in space) and they reactivate the kar-toba. you know something of the sort.

    so who agrees with me?

    peace out

  • but the other idea is that the hiigaren leaders become corrupt and because of karens fame she gets cast out or killed while (anyone who has played homeworld 1 should know what type of unit this is) if a advanced swamer is all that is left of the nebular warriors and he says

  • PeanutButterGoodness is right in some respects what would they do? and if it turns sell-out? my idea would have somethings like have a specel edition of homeworld 1 where you can play as the tusken raiders or as the kar-toba warriors of the nebular or may as the bentusy.

  • Homeworld 3? What would be the plot? We already found the homeworld, defended against the great nemesis, now what? Do we spend endless time in the Eye of Karan or whatever it was called, playing sequel after sequel? I hope they don't try to turn this game into a cash-cow.

  • The plot? Now that Hiigarans can move freely through the Galaxy, why not invasion from another, or maybe Hiigarans going to another and being attacked there? Of course there should be lots of details and plot, but let's leave this to Relic. Relic was the onw who created presious HW games and i believe we should not expect a letdown

  • That could work, but that would create an opening for a never-ending series of games. Hiigarans do this, Hiigarans do that. It would get old after awhile.

  • Read the lore, there are so many unanswered questions after hw2. The bigest is why a galatic council member helped the vaagar by supplying them with the planet killers or how did the vagar stole the planet killers and decided not to use the beam weapons and use it as a missle platform. And in HW1 wtf is that ghost ship, so much stuff unanswered.

  • Sure, it's all good stuff for a sequel. That's the thing, there's too MUCH good stuff for sequels, and they might just put out game after game until Homeworld is no longer intuitive or fresh, and full of the same old crap. There's a reason that most movies and games never go beyond trilogy.

  • this game just needs an update every 5 years...

  • i heard homeworld 2 is bad. crap compared to homeworld 1, is that true?

what about the multiplayer for HW 2, is that any good? i just love these visuals.... can't believe it's bad, hope they make HW3

  • i read Relic recently bought rights to Homeworld series. So HW3 is definite possibility if you ask me :)

  • It's a little different from HW1. The gameplay is more structured and generally much easier. When you finish a mission, the game auto-harvests all remaining res. instead of you hunting, for example. Capital ships are upgraded with hard points, making them more versatile. Overall, it's a good sequel.

  • thnx, I think I'll buy it now.Too bad there aren't any ramming & hive frigate's in this game though :)

  • That would be freakin' awesome, kamikaze units.

  • Is it just me, or is the first Homeworld campaign pretty much impossible? Even more so than omega?

  • it's perfectly possible, i played HW2 several times :).

I liked HW1 campaign more, though, as it was concentrated more on how the ships were used, and on good strategy rather than throwing at you countless enemy ships

  • It is really difficult, but I found many funny strategy guides. One focused on massing salvage corvettes and stealing the entire enemy fleets. It worked too, and had me in stitches.

  • Did that too ^^ stealing all the battleships and missile cruisers :P

  • i love homeworld so much i would marry it if i could. i would make it breakfast in bed in the mourning i would by it a dog and walk it for homeworld. i would lube it up real nice and...

  • Homeworld = One of the greatest RTS' of all time. I love this game to death, and H2 is even better. I just wish it were recognised more in the gaming industry.

    :(

And this is probably the best version of Agnus Dei that I have ever heard.

  • This truly makes me sad. It's a game full of Love and Emotion, it's truly the best game ever. I love it, hope they will make Homeworld 3!

  • sure hope they make the fisrt missions in the third easier to understand than those in HM2. I always lose that research frigate to those darn marine frigates :S

  • haha! me too. those things are nasty! and i assume you mean infiltrator frigates!

  • so the rights are somewhere - not shure where myslef but id guess its in a pile of buracratic shit at some thq office - dosent look likely that most of the orig devs have been laid off so it dosent look likely that homeworld 3 will ever be produced. in saying that more imposible things have happened - fallout 3's storming ahead (however good or bad it turns out) and that looked almost imposible 4 years ago. be patient homeworld lovers

  • Actually, while nothing's official, Homeworld 3 is definitely being considered at least.

Relic, the developer, was bought by THQ ages ago while Sierra retained the rights to the Homeworld series, so things didn't look too good for a sequel, but not too long ago THQ bought the rights to the Homeworld series too. Meaning they can now have Relic make the game with no issues. THQ wouldn't have bought the rights unless they were at least thinking about Homeworld 3.

  • Well starcraft 2 came out after 7 years, so I'm hoping for homeworld..just hope that THQ doesn't go the same path as blizzard or eve onlizzz.

  • this music are so great :,)

  • grate game

  • i know, i still remember in the first homeworld when you came back to karack and that song was playing and just made the whole seem very dramatic and saddening more then it already was.

  • shut up noobs

  • the music is the same tune from platoon.

  • yeah adagio for strings its beautiful and the choral version is perfect for this game.

  • Dude, shut up about whatever your babbling about. Jeez, your annoying.

  • Me too, i've been looking for it for years, i can finally get it as a file! ^^

  • I've been looking for that music everywhere! THANK YOU.

  • i wish eve online could look as good as homeworld2.

  • yeah.. but you gotta admit.. EvE is alot more fun :P

  • lawl

  • Just nine more years till a thanatos~ Homeworld is instant gratification, eve is the ratrace to 60mil SP, a carrier, and getting eaten alive by the goonies.

No really i love eve but god damn dont compare what takes days, weeks, months, and years to what takes a couple hours.

  • No one was really compareing the time it takes to get new toys in either eve or HW2.. strikes point was he wished EvEs graphics looked as good as HW2.. and all i said was EvE is alot more fun.. which you would of course know sence you play eve..Its impossible to compare eve to homeworld.. unless your talking about graphics.

  • Who the hell compares a MMORPG to a 3D RTS anyway? You cant compare games of entirely different genres

  • Sure you can.. They contain massive space battles.. and have decent graphics.. Honestly tho eve is the victor when it comes to graphics..Even more so when the new graphics patch comes out (Cant wait)

  • Wait? GRAPHICS?? what happened to gameplay? Both game have entirely totally different gameplay because they are of DIFFERENT GENRES.

Gameplay flaws within Homeworld2 and EVE Online wont be seen if you compare two totally different genres.

    A more reasonable comparison is:

Comparing Homeworld2 to Sins of a Solar Empire

or Comparing EVE Online to WoW or Rappelz

  • Your failing to understand that you can compare many aspects of ANYTHING... In this case.. we were talking about graphics and the level of fun you obtain from either game.. Gameplay had nothing to do with it, because we all KNEW that the gameplay had nothing in common...

  • If i were to use your train of thought.. and do a full comparison of EVE to WoW or rappelz

Here is the only thing that EVE has in common with WoW or Rappelz

They are all MMRPGS... And they all have PVP systems..

    THATS IT

  • EVE is built on a MMORPG system. that's not all that is it about how they are common. What about NPC AIs, grindage degrees, level interface, mission /quest qualities, etc.

  • EvE = Space MMRPG , Time-based skills , Extreme risk factors.. You can loss alot of shit if you play your cards wrong. More geared toward PvP

WoW - Fantasy MMRPG - Constant lvl grinding - Zero risk factor other then using small ammounts of gold to repair your gear - more geared toward MVP

  • lose*

  • Umm ok, you haven't played WoW or Rappelz have you -_-

Rappelz, you get killed you lose like half your Ex and most of your items. In Rappelz you can attack ANYONE at anytime anywhere (except at caps). How is that not PVP based?

  • Rappelz - Fantasy MMRPG - Lvl grinding - Not sure about the risk factors.. you may lose exp...But im very sure its NOTHING compared to what you can lose in eve - More geared toward MVP

And gameplay? Absolutely nothing in common.. At all..

  • Read previous comment, what about NPC system, grindage degree, mission/quest quality, level interface, travel time (as with Voyage Century), character interface, skills set, etc.

very simple....EVE IS A MMORPG and can be compared with other MMORPGs such as rappelz, voyage century (especially voyage century), shadowbane and anarchy online

  • Hopefully you now grasp a basic understanding of what im trying to say..When comparing something.. such as video games.. you dont always have to compare every detail..Next time your out trolling youtube looking for a debate..THINK before you type.

  • ya you do, with modern qualities of games so high, else how do you decide which games are the best of all. Compare Halo 3 to Crysis to BlackSite: Area 51. It comes down to the point where I even had to analyze the detail of the graphics because everything else is so even with each other.

I'm a game critic. I have to see everything with detail to effectively analyze games, or else I'll get hate mail saying "oh y didn't u compare this", etc

  • EvE's gameplay has little to nothing incommon with either WoW or rappelz (btw.. i have a 70 on wow..Apparently you based your facts that i havent played wow on thin air.

No i havent played rappelz.. the damn download was corrupted so i didnt bother trying again.. Either way it doesnt matter..

  • Not everyone is a game critic.. so in reality.. NO we DON'T have to compare every detail.. Besides..EvE and WoW/Rappelz are not exactly the same genre...WoW/Rappelz are FANTASY.. and EvE is a Space MMRPG.. you got a lot less to work with when your compairing them. your left with compairing the same shit that every MMRPG has..

  • if it were designed like a fantasy RPG with a storyline you had to follow.. removing the political gameplay.. the extreme loss factors.. the wars.. the backstabs.. and the musical screams of popping someone on their madien voyage in their new battleship... EvE would suck.

  • So you cant really call them the same genre now can you? Fantasy rpg's are typical grind fests and not much more.. Hell you could call pvp on WoW a form of grinding sence the only real risk is being called a noob by some fat kid who grinds raids about 5-7 hours a day..You cant compare EvE to WoW or rappelz.. they are not the same genre.. and eve is a completely higher level of gameplay...On eve you need a pair of balls and a brain.. Not just a shit ton of spare time.

  • you still do need an ass load of spare time to get any where on eve though. i have a battle cruiser how about you

  • there's a demo that's 141mb, u should get it!! i just finished downloading it! well now im gonna play it lol. just search homeworld 2 anywhere and goto the main site where u can get it.

  • awesome music vid

  • i realy like this game...

  • you got the same taste of colours as me :)

  • Superbly Beautiful, although it could have used a few more combat scenes...Still 5 stars though...now if you will excuse I'm gonna go ahead and snatch the music.

  • Oh boy...I Love it :´)...Homeworld is my Favourite Game...I will create a Wing in my Clan only for Homeworld with 4Members!

  • This choral version of Barber's "Adagio for Strings" is called "Agnus Dei", and it does sound like a requiem. Very proper as it's the opening theme for the original Homeworld as the mothership scaffold hovers over a fated Kharak...

  • oh, man, this is great! especially the music :-O

    5 stars

  • very nice!!!=)

  • Isn't this actually Adagio for voices. It follows the same tune and form but it has people's voices instead of the strings.

    Damm right it's accapella.

  • It's title is "Adagio for strings"

  • Yes, I know. The original piece written by Samuel Barber is called Adagio For Strings, but what I was asking if the actual piece in the video above was Adagio For Voices. It follows the same tune only uses voices instead of string instruments.

  • Yes, i know,

still, it's title is "Adagio for strings", it's just choral interpretation of it, but it's title does not change due to that fact.

Actually, Adagio for Strings is one of the most famous pieces of choral music, and one of most often performed ones, but it's still always called "Adagio for strings", not "Adagio for voices"

  • Fair enough.

  • You've done a fantastic job here.

    Magnificent work!

  • If you want to have this song in mp3 format follow this:

1-Download and install Audacity and the lame codec for encoding in mp3

2-in Audacity set, Stereo Mixer( or something like that) as your recording device

3-Start this video and start the recording on Audacity (red circle)

    4-Save As mp3

5-Enjoy the highness and beauty of this unique music

  • Thanks man. I never knew that was possible.

  • The song is: Adagio for Strings

The song was originally a piece done in symphony but it was remixed by a DJ named DJ Tiesto

So if your looking for it, heres another link for the song watch?v=jdBw7Ft9PYs

  • Ack.. wring vid, ignore my statement :(

  • The song can be downloaded from the relic forums. follow the links to the homeworld section, the OST is up there. Follow the links to the Homeworld section, and the OST is there. If not, pm me and i'll send it to you.

  • yes i am looking too for this song but I can't find it but i know how to download it.

    listen carefull

you play this song and record it with start> programs> Bureau-accessoires> entertaiment> soundrecoreder and push on record you are now recording the song if the song is recorded it stays on your pc

I hope that every one it (snappie)

  • this is the most peaceful song I have ever heard.

what did you record the video in?

  • rather than peaceful, it seems nostalgic to me...well, maybe it's just my mood....

  • that and it is on my MySpace lol.

  • in 4 days me and the rest of my schools choir leaves for hawaii to sing this song :)

  • Does someone know if there comes another game of Homeworld?

I have heart that the company is sold and that there other makers maybe make a new Homeworld. I hope it!

  • Serria and Relic have "fallen out"

Serria is Homeworld publisher. Relic makes the games.

until the dispute is resolved, no more homeworld games

  • does anyone have a download link for this amazing song.

or know what the name is of the song?

  • The name of song is in the description.

Unfortunatly I'm also trying to find the song. I've so far only found the standard adagio for strings, but want to find the choral version used in Homeworld. Tell me if you find huh? :)

  • This recording takes the music a little fast. Still an amazing work.

  • Too bad you didn't have a vid of the big huge ass gun you can build on the side of your command ship.

  • do you mean in HW cataclysm?

  • that is Homeworld:Cataclysm.

    i've got that game...got all 3 lol

  • this isn't cataclysm, the mothership isn't in cataclysm. it's only in homewrold and homeworld 2.

  • it was great in platoon

  • Does anybody have a download link for this? Its near impossible to find.

  • wath is this music? the name of the song? cause I search it. thanks

  • it's written in vid's description ;)

It's 'Agnus Dei' (god's lamb) by Samuel Barber

  • Awesome gay and awesome music in it.

  • Err, make that Awesome game and awesome music in it. Don't know why I wrote that ^^.

Found this video because I was searching for the song, it's such an intensely emotional game, probably the most emotional I've ever played, so great.

  • Wow! I first heard this track when I was playing Homeworld (the first one) quite some time ago and ever since then I was looking for it. Thank God that I remembered and checked the OST of Platoon, which also uses it!

Anyway, this vid definitely goes to my favourites!

  • thank you :)

  • How interesting... I bought a pirated CD of Half Life 1, and on it there was a demo of Homeworld. I could not stop listening to the sound track. I kept looking for the music and looking, until one day I heard it play in Platoon. Interesting that someone else went through something similar as I have.

  • im singing it in the school choir! yes, i feel like bragging about this, we rock!

  • Nice Game.

  • a great music and a great game

  • i agree this music is truly brilliant i heard it 1st when playing homeworld and it really emphasised the games storyline i love it (p.s. i got hooked to the game and im using a m8s account)

  • Homeworld & Homeworld II both are wonderful games, and the choir version of the Adagio multiplies by ten the emotion carried in Barber's masterpiece.

  • agnus dei is prenounced (onyoos day)

  • i love both the string and choral versions of this song... it must be the most used piece of classical music in modern media

  • It IS most used piece of chorral music out there :)

I must admit i know why, it's just sooo beautiful
