@2012aramus Kinda like travis picking. If you wanna lesson on how to do it look up a youtube lesson of "Julia" by the Beatles. It has the same alternating thumb picking with the right hand. The left hand is the standard country/folk C, F, C, G progression like every John Prine song lol. That should basically be it. You'll have to work out the lead embellishments by ear though.

@headstock48 Unfortunately I haven't. I was actually just turned on to them today by a friend. I agree this is a great song. You should definitely check out some John Prine if you're into this type of songwriting, assuming you haven't already
@Romancandle5929 I think I might have, a few months ago. I wanted to see Deer Tick when they came to Boston but I know they can be loud, and I'm not really into their loud stuff. I like rock and loud stuff, but not loud Deer Tick. Did you look at the videos for Little White Lies and Stay the Night?
i have a martin 12 string that my gramps baught new in 55 and it has seen more good times and music than any gibson or other could ever hope to. its tone is so mellow and sweet it can play the prudist girl right out of her pantys. you get what you pay for bud if you want a guitar that will sound amazing right out of the box, last years and only get better with time you get a martin if you want something else you shouldnt be playing guitar
@Toehead698 - the technique is an alternating bass style, specifically travis picking. the songs that got me started playing like this were 'they killed john henry' by justin townes earle and 'all the best' by john prine. good luck!
john prine. i dunno for sure, but i think the music in this song might be loosely based on john prine's "clocks and spoons".
i really like this song...it seems to stick in my head for a couple days after i hear it once. john mccauley has one of my favorite voices in terms of modern artists.
She don't like her eggs all runny.
Fantastic work, becoming my fav band.

@Romancandle5929 Thanks. Great song. Have you seen them live? Do they do anything acoustic like this or is it louder? Again, thanks very much.

Now girls, stop fighting about which guitar is the best. Don't you know by now that it's purely subjective? There is simply is no right or wrong.
