being black cuts across no matter what income i will always go to a store and get followed... in oakpark michigan there are two schools 2 miles away one all black one all white i've walked though both. I talked to students at oak park high school (the all black one) who didnt have a language class and their principle let them graduate thats surpose to be a requirement... how can u get into a college without having a language. they get 25 minutes for lunch and half their classes don't have books

OK, now we are discussing schools? It's sounds like that principal is OK with mediocrity. Ever seen the movie Lean On Me? Well, we need more principals like that in schools, and not just in predominately black ones. No one ever said life is fair or easy. It's about making the best of things and trying to change things for the better. Whining, bitterness, hating, blaming won't get anyone anywhere. You have to try to stay positive, keep your head up, work hard, and not give up.

we are discussing reality... thats the difference between white and black schools both these schools are poor yet they are so far apart. racism is a fact and i will never give up each person has to deal with their own form of racism and sexism whether it be self hate or hating another. i think me being mad at white people for hating me is wrong im not saying all white people are racism but the majority is and even those who came not to be spread unreal stereotypes

I don't think the majority (51% or higher) of white people are truly racist. Most people don't like negative, cynical, & complaining people. This I know because I've been accused of being those things. So if those are things someone of any minority race among a majority race displays, then that may be what turns people off, not the fact that they are of different color, creed, or whatever.

I understand what packrat is saying. Its not like blaming women for being raped. Its like teaching women to hate and distrust all men for the evil rapists deeds. I will never judge on skin color but content of character. Yet many in african-american culture still instills in their children to not trust whites, and that they secretly are still racist. Fear leads to anger, which leads to hate, which is what started this mess. If the white culture appologized, would the black culture forgive?

both instances have happened to me and they both make me feel the same way... we are not taught by our parents about white racism we are taught by actions by still being called nigers and black tards. by being a minority surrounded by white people i see for myself that much of society is still racist. my mom is a construction worker and everyone calls her token... apologizing wouldn't be enough if they didn't back it up with actions

even when you go to areas with a class division its still segregated by race. its not driving while poor its driving while black. a poor white person may be able to hide their poorness from people but i can never hide my color. i went to a private middle school and they tried to put me in special ed because of tracking i got a 28 on my act my sophmore year after transferring to an all black high school where i had to go though security for the first time and the security guards were smokin
