My RC18B2 kit will smoke dat.. LOL j/k but it will, check my video! Nice spiel though, great Idea on the motor vent in the top part of the cover, I think I am going to do that to mine. Got motor over temps (I do)? What color are you going to paint it? You could have done a better job on the motor wire cutout, all is not lost, cut the whole back part of the side cover around the motor off like I did.
@djgeojoe HAHA! lets see, im thinking now since my car has the new 9000kv motor and a 1800 mah lipo battery that my car will smoke yours! :) and yeah i rewired the car so the wires arent as messy! and the body is painted blackish gray with red and white flames, just a fun theme...i will soon paint a new body that will match my b44! (white, orange, blue, black, and red!) :)
@skittles1132 Smoke? Yes, yours will smoke, and while you are sitting on the curb blowing on your 9000kv motor that is smoking after 4 speed runs, I will still be having fun going places where you cannot. Have fun on the asphalt, tarmac boy j/k LOL! I am not going for crowd pleaser on this one; bashing and no overheating is what I am after, anything over 7000kV is not going to hold up temp wise in this class. 3S on that 9000kv is going to melt it if you so much as look at dirt and grass ;)
@djgeojoe Hmm i dont mean to be mean or sassy, but ive heard about these heat problems with the car and i havent had any with the 5400kv or 9000kv and battery combo! I did pre loosen the belt a little and it runs very very smoothly, so maybe theres my solution...I also set my pinion and spur a little father (like barely any at all) apart so it runs smoother and easier. and my slipper isnt as tight so i dont have as much torgue when im doing speed runs down my street :) and only 5400 for racing!
@GxMan100 You can get this buggy and run it in the snow (would not suggest jumping or completely burrying the buggy in snow)...please note that none of the electronics are waterproof and you can hurt them with water...my best suggestion is just to not run it in the snow and just inside for safety. If you do wish to run it in the snow, wrap the car in plastic wrap (chassis) and tape the edges, i have done this and it will work to waterRESIST your car!!!
@skittles1132 Great Idea, I am going to try this with my savage flux, last time I got snow packed down on the mamba monster and I started to freak good think I have an air compressor in the garage. Someone told me to use liquid electrical tape on the ESC, not sure I want to do that.
@GxMan100 This car is a kit and does not include electronics at first, if you get the rtr then it is not waterproof...if you get the kit you can modify or buy your own electronics and waterproof them!
Can you use Lipo for these cars? Why'd you say NiMH of course? My buggies should be arriving in the mail shortly. Can't wait. I'm a little dissapointed that my SC18 is sort of ka-put at the moment though. Any problems with the belt drive for your buggy?
did you ever have a striped spear gear yet,? i played with my settings so much that my spur gear is a little striped. lol mine makes like a little clicking sound i think because the teeth are a little striped do you have a idea where the clicking noise is coming from???
@rcsuperfreek Hmm im guessing your pinion and spur gear are just not set properly! I have not stripped a gear yet but i replaced my spur the other day because it was getting extremely worn! when they strip they rub more and create this clicking sound! And for the previous question....quietest car ive ever run! super quiet! i would suggest playing with your motor placement and the gear mesh :)
I found a fix for the tight belt problem. I fixed mine last night and it is totally awesome. What I did was offset the motor in the motor mount to where the belt doesn't ride on the pinion gear and what I mean by "offset" is mounting the motor on the motor mounting plate to where it sits lower on the plate and then when you slide it in to mount it to the chassis, it will sit lower and not rub on the belt cause it will be lower than before-that's it !! It sounds hard but only takes 3 minutes.
Hi, I have to give a best suggestion for the battery, 2 pcs of 18650 li-battery is just suitable on on RC18B, I think it's also suitable for RC18B2. 2pcs of 18650 li-battery is much lighter then 6 pcs NI-MH. And remember, threre are many kinds of 18650 battery, you should choose the ones used on Electric power tools(tamper or drill), not laptop..
@msyongning I dont use batteries from laptops! thats stupid...i use batteres specificuly designed for the car and the hobby! i switched from using nimh to Lipo! i have a 2s 1800 mah lipo battery in the car! And i have not had any problems with the belt system other than heating up the motor...i tuned the motors timing to be lower and it seems to be running a lot better!
@msyongning haha i stil play with mine even though i have the 18b2! but trust me...its worth the investment! just transfer the electronics and battery and u have a new car :)
@skittles1132 Hi, I have to give a best suggestion for the battery, 2 pcs of 18650 li-battery is just suitable on on RC18B, I think it's also suitable for RC18B2. 2pcs of 18650 li-battery is much lighter then 6 pcs NI-MH. And remember, threre are many kinds of 18650 battery, you should choose the ones used on Electric power tools(tamper or drill), not laptop.. They are very powerful, and will reach normal 1500MAH.
@ 4:30 you mention you can adjust the motor, it is the same setup as the Losi XXX 4, each size pinion requires the motor to move to accomidate the pinion. Proper gear mesh...
Great VId! How is the 18B2 working out? Can you explain a little more in depth of what the problems are with this truck, and how you fixed it? Thanks, I really want to get this truck, but I am wondering what the flaws are. Also, how are the temperatures on it? THANKS
@stampedevxl The 18B2 is according on my own opinion one of the best 1/18 scale cars out there! The motor does get a little hot when i run it! im running a 5400kv brushless with now a 2c 1600mah lipo battery! and i am proud to say i launched it about 10 feet high and 25 feet long without a single part breaking so it handles bashing pretty well! some problems i have had is the outer drive cups that connect to the drive shaft! (i use blue aluminum) strip really easily if the camber is not set!
@skittles1132 is it worth buying this kit. i have the old rc18b but i was wondering if this version is better. i also have a caslte creations 6800 kv motor.
@rcsuperfreek This kit is definitely worth buying! best 1/18 buggy/truggy ever! the 6800 kv motor is perfect for the car! my 5400kv motor gets really really hot after about 15 minutes with a 1800mah lipo battery! i bought a heatsink and taht helps a little. The steering is amazing and the whole car is just a beauty!
ill be painting the 2 bodies a background Black with red and white flames with a litle bit of airbrushed carbon fiber into the black and around the flames!!!
@suzukiboy26 yeah i did i think its awesome! i cant wait to get that and the whole conversion kit! with the top plate being carbon fiber. my only worry is that then the belt system wont be covered along with all the gears. Also when i eventually get it ill be custom making a undertray for the car out of 3mm lexan to protect the carbon fiber!
Haha i like your color choice! i just ordered my paint from towerhobbies and its coming this wednessday! i custom paint all my bodies with my airbrush!!! ill be posting a video of the car soon once i get all the parts back together and the body painted!
I like the way you think! I just ordered a 2 cell lipo 1800mah for the car along with exotek front and rear shock towers. I also found out that you can use the old outdrives from the differentials from the old RC18 and they will work the same. You just have to buy the gears to go on them. thats what i did and it saved me like 15 dollars!!! you should post a vid soon of your car!
@skittles1132 i still have to get one first im going over to my dads and im going to persuade him to get me the kit and im put all my old stuff in it. o and im going to paint it pink so when i take it to the track people will think its gay but it will smoke there cars!!
Just an FYI to RC18B2 fans out there...the stock gear differentials strip if you run anything in a brushless system! I just stripped mine and its my second day running the car on my track! get the brushless proof balld ifferentials that can handle the power of the motor. i also put a new pinion gear into the car. 2 teeth above what they give you in the kit!
haha believe it or not thats what i thought when i edited this video! i brought the ride hieght down to where the dogbones are parallel! the rear are just slightly above parallel! with the shock oil and everything i havent really broken them in yet so they are supper stiff right now!!! thanks for the comment
@skittles1132 o ok o and thanks for the tip on the brushless diff i would of striped mine the first 5 minutes with the mamba 8000kv motor, mamba pro speedcontrol,2 cell 1800mah lipo battery, spektrum dx3.0, and a sr3000 reciever. OOO and another tip 11/60 gearing will help ur motor and make it last longer. and 12/60 is more top end
thats a nice video and i like what u put into the buggy but i dont know what u do with the car but dont u think the ride height is a little bit to much but idk u might have soft springs idk but nice buggy ima try to get the same one
did u have to change the gearing for the mamba max system
badassrcguy 11 months ago
