  • Hi ~ I don't recommend using all purpose flour for bread. Bread flour has a higher protein content than regular flour. This helps strengthen the dough so it supports the air pockets formed by the yeast. All purpose doesn't rise as much and can collapse in the baking process. All bread flours aren't created equal either. My favorite is from Costco; in 50# bags!

  • Hi, thanks for your recipe. I'm also Jewish, and I enjoy eating Challah, but I've never made it my self, so I though I'd give it a go, and I follwed your recipe, and it was delicious (If I may say so). By the way, rather than using oil to help the dough get out of the bowl after it's risen, you could just line the bowl with plastic wrap/cling film. Any way, I braided it as it's the traditional way, and then I sprinkled it with poppy seeds :)

    Greetings from London, England.

  • This is the BEST Challah recipe ever!! I am now officially a fan of Leah! My husband and I just tried the first Challah and it's amazing, we LOVE it! Thank you thank you thank you for posting this wonderful video, I was looking for ages for a Challah recipe that's easy, fast and works- thanks to you I have found it! Have a great Shabbes!

  • @Adiyalusch Thanks for being a fan.....just posted new videos for yeasted sweet dough; babka, etc. Enjoy!

  • @LeahCooksKosher can you use regular all purpose flour? what is the difference btwn bread flour and all purpose?

  • Hi! Your video is great. I am experimenting with Challah in Mexico City (high altitude) and I would like to try your recipe. How can I transalte your packages of yeast to teaspoons of dry regular yeast?

  • @bettymendlovic Ah! So sorry to not see your note. Holidays had me very busy. I like to use dry, rapid rise yeast. I usually translate 2 1/4 teaspoons of yeast to a package. Thanks for enjoying the video...all the way in Mexico City!

  • Can you freeze the dough or just the bread after its cooked? I am Christian but wanted to start celebrating the holidays God put out for us and not the ones man made up (such as Christmas). This video is very helpful! I have never made bread before and I feel like I will be able to make it just fine with your help! Thanks!!

  • I love your video so far (I'll move on to part 2). Meanwhile, it's clear and quite pleasant compared to those who make to much of an effort to "entertain" ..lol.

Thank you for taking the time to share. : )
