I have a question where was surah falaq revealed in Mecca ..? as search has turned out it to be Mecca
but I think the magic & the Jew story happened in Madina...?
because that jew as far as I remember was a hypocrite who had accepted islam in front of the world but was from inside a kafir & he told her daughters to do magic on prophet pbuh. some bin waleed was his name i guess
i heard quran was not written before many years the prophet died. how come the sister of umar was READING the quran? please does anyone know the source for that story.
it was written about 20 years after mohammed died because, the hafarz( not sure how you write it) were dieing in battle, so they decided to write it down so that the word al-qur'an was never corrupted like the books b4 it. So at least 2 hafarz(people who knew the qur'an off by heart) would have to b in agreement when putting it all together. So that they was sure everything was as Mohammed spoke. This is why we can b SURE by everything in our lives, that the qur'an has not been corrupted.
What she was reading was just a sheet thashas been written on some verses of the Quran which has been revealed at the time, but not the whole Surah's and the Verses of the Quran as written afterwards accordingly which is the (MUS-HAF)..
It was a holy place to the Arabs of that time when they would worship the 'taghuut' (false gods) idols. They would literally fill the Kaba with loads of idols, and not only in it, but around it also.
People from all around Arabia would then visit Makkah, to go to the Kaba and 'worship' the false gods within it and around it.
Before the Arabs had created these false gods, the Kabah served another purpose, which is not to my full knowldege.
the kaba is blessed and sacred according to the quran and that makes it holy, it was holy before islam because arabs followed the religion of Ibrahim, he built it with his son ismael and called people to visit it (haj) but by the time of Muhamed (pbuh) their religion was very distorted and changed .. that's what I know and Allah knows best.
what was the name of the famous poet?

The Qur'an was written during the life of the Prophet, but it was compiled into one after he died. She was reading a part of it.
