  • i remember that i was on my dads steam engenguin watching!

  • what you got to remember is all these engines are around 100 years old. what they are supposed to be able to do should be watered down by allowing for metal fatigue. a little less gusto with the regulator would probably be a good idea. looking at the exhaust i would say they threw the regulator wide open.

silly people do silly things! one day something bad will happen and we will all be punished for a few iresponsible people

  • @aveling23 u see some ppl actually like to do some real work with their engines when they get to a rally and put on a show for the public and help keep the public interest in steam rallies in general. then you get some 'old farts' set in their ways that only sit at the side of the arena wishing they had the balls to actually do something with their engine...even if it is a only a roller. its easy to be a keyboard ninja and bitch about others - why dont u get a life?

  • Sooner or later the bloody idiots are going to have a big accident and ruin it for everyone in the steam scene

  • @mcormickdriver unlikely that they will have a 'big accident' as that family is involved in steam for the last 40+ years. judging by ur user name ur a tractor driver so what would u know about it??? another phoney with nothing better to do but criticise other ppl. grow up.

  • @steamfanman Before you start making false assumptions just on a person's unsername I can tell that I have been involved with the steam scene man and boy, as was my father, and regularly exhibit at rallies. I have done many road miles on steamers. I haven't got personal with you so don't with me! If you want there to be an accident at a rally and someone get hurt, and have the full force of the HSE come down on the steam scene be my guest but I don't want them to be give that opportunity.

  • i was there wen it happened , they snapped a gear wheel in two

  • @klauramay yes it was a gear wheel - it was fixed the next morning and the engine was back out putting on a show that afternoon.

  • what did it do

  • @1800isbest Not sure, but I rather suspect either the drive pin broke, moved and jammed the gears, or possibly a piston jammed.

  • @CamdenMSS it wouldnt of been the drive pin breaking i might of been summot loose on footplate tht fell down into gears but wht ever it was must of been bit 2 jam it like tht
