@KeyShotLuxion I'm really interested in this software, though, I'm not quiet sure of it. Are you able to import and export to other 3D software's, and can we animate?
Is this program anygood for archviz? like interior renderings for example - I use renderers like mental ray/vray... in Maya and Max but of course it is time consuming and not as fast as this program looks like - Do any1 use it for archviz??
@jezzmoto Hi Jezzmoto. The reason metal does not have IOR is because it has been simplified and preset so that users who don't have extensive rendering knowledge can easily create a realistic metal without adjusting IOR. If you wanted to create a metal and be able to fine tune the IOR, I suggest using the 'Advanced material'. It has all the properties you need to create any material type, with the exception translucent types. For that, you would need to use the translucent material.
@KeyShotLuxion hello! Keyshot team your renderer is great.I like it very much. But i want you to know that the Global Illumination of keyshot is false not realistic i am a tester of various renderer like Vray,Fry,octane and Indigo but i found out that the realistic indirect light is what which bounce back and cast shadows of objects.I test it with indoor scene and i dont like (GI) pls pls work on GI because keyshot already beat octane and other renderers in speed but not in light.
Actually there is no bump mapping on this model. It's all geometry. We are working on translucent materials that will ship with version 2.1 that are targeted towards industrial designers. Many plastics out there scatter subtle amounts of light beneath the surface so the ability to create these materials even more realistic than ever is right around the corner.
@KeyShotLuxion I want you to know if you want to see good GI only indigo renderer has the most realistic light and GI.On the other hand your Keyshot light emitter material is false cast irregular shadows even on high settings. Pls make good GI(Indirect light). When you improve GI and Instance handling of keyshot just like other renderers.I am sure this will be the best and fastest realtime renderer.
@mogogogoify the problem with jagged shadows has been addressed with this new release...i've tested it...plus thea and maxwell crashes indigo all the way...even smalllux gpu which is free...lux render and others
@mogogogoify "Only indigo renderer has the realistic light" Lol!
Your right about the lighting but, Keyshot is not a unbaised renderer, so your asking alot when you compare it too the unbaised renderers you listed.
Keyshot seems aimed at the preview render market not the final beauty render market. People who generally want higher quality, want more control which would require a more complex interface, ie, a different product...
I'm more then sure the keyshot team know what they are doing.
@KeyShotLuxion hi guys you wrote it'only geometry and no bump..so i think neither normal nor displacement..i would like to know if millions of polys (like an entire character sculpted and exported) could be loaded easily as it seems..otherwise is possible to assign normal map / displacement to a medium poly model?
.other little question ..is possible to animate the camera or only turntable?
notice there is no mention of the textures that are applied. The bump map is adding a LOT to the realism. just doing a "skin" texture is going to look like a cartoon without that.
Also, let's see it on something other than skin. How many people using keyshot really need to render faces? Tupperware? Sure. Faces? Not so much.
Let's see it on a few products. Maybe a nice lamp shade? How about a cool bouncy ball with some swirls in it? Maybe put some led's inside a semi-transparent surface.
@andrewjohn81 you know nothing about sss, do you? skin is one of the most difficult materials to make and sss is usually not supported by other realtime renderers. Plastics and other transparent materials like glass are just easy to make. Dielectrics are also another one which requires more time to render. I've tried arion, fryrender, octane, thea, indigo, luxrender, vray, mental ray, final render, twilight, kerkythea, maxwell, modo, vue, fprime, kray, brazil, rendergin, vred, bunkspeed, shaderlight,
@naborghsoj08 I'm aware of the fact that it is a difficult material to make. In fact I Do know a few things about sss. Plastics are actually also quite difficult to make because they require the same type of shader as skin, only that the internal color is the same on plastics generally, as the outside surface.
The reason I think most of the people this video actually applies to would appreciate seeing this apply to a product, is because this rendering software is mainly for product designers.
Can be used KeyShot for simple animations? I meant, If I can make animations with abit more of details and medium GI really fast cab be better than use a normal software engine from a 3D app. Of course, I know the quality isnt the same, but for a simple animation if I can render 1 frame each 20 seconds can be better than 1 frame each 2 hours.
Hi Jezzmoto, thanks! Yes, KeyShot is based on 10 years of graphics research and has been developed and production tested in several industries for over 3 years. It will be hard for a brand new rendering solution to catch up to the time invested in KeyShot.
@KeyShotLuxion How can I use the network rendering option? There is a slave program in there but I can't get it to work.

Why doesn't KeyShots metal shader have and IOR property setting?

Right now the only animation that is available is simple turntable animation. We are looking into the possibility of simple part animation.
