It always amazes me how wrong and hateful those on the right are about the Progressives. Because we care about others beside ourselves & think the gov't should play a big role in protecting the most vulnerable in society is something to be proud of not hated on. There are those on the right who lie about who we are because if they told the truth everyone would want to be a Progressive.
@pinkmondy the problem is when progressivism turns into a welfare-based European style liberalism. I consider myself a moderate and applaud the progressive measures taken by Teddy Roosevelt, but oppose many of those "progressive" reforms initiated by President Obama.

If you want Tyranny Go ahead try it out OH wait the History of the world is full of it! The USA tried another way! FREEDOM to the people the first time in history and it WORKS! i agree, the individual is the one with true power, not the state. we've come so dependant on this enormous welfare state, it's sickening. patrick henry didn't say, "give me security or give me death" he said give me liberty or give me death! liberty for the individual is what made this great nation, not government regulations
How could anyone expect government to make private industry more efficient? Government didnt come up with Fords assembly line. Only innovation can increase efficiency, last I looked the government was too innovative. Oh and thanks for the income tax, great job.
@jjrglobal Henry Ford was a noted progressive. Read his wiki page, you idiot. There were progressives in the PRIVATE sector as well--Andrew Carnegi, for example, gave his entire wealth away when he died to progressive institutions.
Many businessmen are progressives, especially the ones that would like to use the government to crowd out competition through regulation and taxes. You think this financial reform bill is going to hurt Goldman Sachs or will it put small firms out of business
@Theblizzardking There is a difference between Progressivism and Charity. Charity is the Haves giving to the Have-Nots out of kindness. Progressivism is government TAKING from the Haves and giving to the Have-Nots whether the Haves want to give that money away or not.
