You're an ass. What was the point of this exercise? To try to get film of security procedures online for terrorists to study to look into ways to circumvent them? To try to create a ruckus in hopes that someone in your party could sneak something onto the plane? They should have confiscated your ticket and arrested you.
@jkimbu The point of the exercise is to highlight the increasing spread of unwarranted stop and search by police services and government agencies.
Would you rather live in a country where you are free to go about your daily activities unimpeded or one where you can be detained, questioned and searched for no reason at any time?
BTW: Your chances of being killed by a terrorist are 1 in 20million. You are 4X more likely to be killed by a bolt of lightening.
To correct - TSA DCA has backtracked on some statements made in the past to its TSOs, and doesn't forbid recording now. The constitution grants you the right to certain things, and prevents the government from summarily taking these rights away.
When you enter the screening process, you are giving consent to the process, and in giving that consent, you have surrendered some rights.
As I said at the start, DCA has backtracked on some statements made (Perhaps informally?) regarding filming.
tech yes he could have recorded...but we officers also have the right to say that we do not want to be recorded...and with where he was standing as soon as he walked into the door he would have gotten secure images..so yes in the back you can tech but the officer was allowed to say do not record me please and he can then call sup and get someone else to take over.
@beloved84us I'm young and didn't know what our govt was doing when they allowed the patriot act and now I know tht it's cuz the terrorists did their job by making our ppl vote for bills tht give up freedom for security and Ben franklin said tht if u sacrifice freedom for security, then u deserve neither. The thing is tht a lot of old ppl allowed this, not the younger generations
you know what..I truly dont understand the logic behind some of our "wonderful" americans. working for tsa is a catch 22 job. Many people out there forget so easily. tsa is here to stop terrorists in there tracks..you people out there say you want someone in place to stop catastrophic events from happening, but when you get that you want to go against the rules that were put in place to lessen the chances of anything happening. just follow the rules and your airport experience will go smoothly.
@beloved84us - lol.. comical. The TSA exists to get Americans more and more used to being intruded upon and violated by the Federal Government. The TSA is so badly ineffective that it's disgusting. How many billions do they get every year? And to do what, strip search grannies and confiscate cupcakes? What a joke. TSA needs to GTFO of the USA
@beloved84us Yes, follow the rules and our travels to Auschwitz will go smoothly. TSA has taken advantage over a terrible tragedy that befell America. They thrive on fear more than an actual terrorist and have become a haven for criminals and perverts. I would rather die than put up with them and I am sure anybody else who is reasonable would agree. TSA was a huge mistake, it is time to erase that mistake!
The TSA site says "It is recommended that you use the Talk To TSA program on tsa.gov to contact the Customer Support Manager at the airport to determine its specific policy."
Did you do this?
Filming AT a checkpoint is not prohibited. In various states and airports, what is permitted and prohibited is different. In Virginia's DCA airport, filming security procedures - such as pat-downs or monitors, is not only against policy, but illegal.
@LurkilyModAbuse I don't have a source for it's illegality, now that I've looked for one, but I do know factually that it is against DCA policy, based on local management directives.
TSA is within its rights to tell you that you may not film here, since you are implying consent for the screening process by taking part in it. If you do not consent to the screening process (from start to finish,) you are also perfectly within your rights to do that.
@LurkilyModAbuse - any attempt to prohibit the filming of federal TSA goon agents doing their job is a violation of the first amendment right to free speech and free press.
@LurkilyModAbuse - why do TSA agents put people's families through all sorts of non-sense on a daily basis. Why do the TSA agents steal from people's belongings? Why do they strip search grandmothers? Why do they touch children? Why do they expose people to dangerous levels of radiation?
EVERYONE should record the TSA when they go to the airport.
think about it, tsa has to deal with people like you for 8 hours a day, plus having a video camera shoved in their face? Wouldnt that annoy you if you were trying to work?
common sense really goes a long way if you use it....
@submelon8 Think about it next time you are in a rush when you go to a Fast Food place. Don't you feel bad wanting your food right away? You're rushing the clerks!!
Yeah. They knew what they were getting themselves into when they applied. Don't like it? Get an honorable job.
@submelon8 - long live freedom of press! Boo hoo to you and the other TSA sympathizers. The right of the people must triumph over the abuses of the TSA! The agent in this video doesn't even know the TSA's policy when it comes to record! What a joke!
I really respect what you are doing man. Not only are you standing up for ALL of our liberties, but these glorified mall cops inevitably put a wonderfully comical spin on every single video while trying to exercise their power trip.
The police officers were incredibly cooperative in this matter, which seems to have become a trend in these scenarios. It's a real tribute to TSA that the cops and the general public seem to know much more about TSA's policy than they do.
Keep a copy of the rules for video tapping their theatrics with you so that you have proof you are breaking no laws and TSA is just bullying you!

@jkimbu Have you forgotten people have eyes? You don't need a camera to learn the ins and outs of any checkpoint unless they make you go blindfolded
