DAYUMMMM Lani is an absolutely ferocious belter. I'd day in terms of pure, raw talent she's definitely in my top five as far as best singers. This is what alot of the filipina divas(As well as new up and comers like Leona) need -- more adlibbing, grunting, use of their ranges, and SOUL.

@superc she is awesome but she is a screamer at times like at some parts of this song or certain notes. At least screamer in the definition of those who don't understand want true wailing is. She could always blow, and does full voice but she does go flat a lot live. They need better monitors for her.

@rjayiscool if you see something negative then you mistake that it is really towards her vs. the performance. She is an amazing vocalis. We in the biz at times are forced to interpret less than what we think is proper. I talked technicality because someone brought it up.RE: reason why she is on stage, so? We know a lot of great performers who don't make it. Lani is not as famous as Britney. Is Spears better? Is there merit to a comment like she is on stage we are not? BTW I am always on stage.

@rjayiscool also where in my comment was there anything negative? Someone said she sounds black and I was proud of her to say she sounds Filipina. The person got into technical stuff so i followed that flow. But I still said she sounds Filipina meaning that great sound you hear is not just "black" it is Filipina passion and musicality. As Filipinos we know how to do a song, and Lani represents.

Wow I never heard Lani sing like this before. She's definitely got the vocal range, the power, and soulful feeling to put into it. She's highly versatile who's able to imitate many other artists. No wonder she was voted Best Singer of Las Vegas 2008 Editor's Pick. With a performance like this I am not surprised.

@superc to say that Lani sounds black but not filipina shows that you don't understand musicality. Melisma is nothing more than inflections put together to sound like runs. Nina does it more in Foolish Heart, Rachel Lampa does it better as well in songs like Blessed, No Greater Love etc. Right now divas in the Philippines are held to the standard of holding notes vs. runs but when they are asked to do it some can. Even Regine's For The Love Of you has it perfect as well as her duet with Mcknite

@superc oh and btw, I can do melismas too if the genre calls for it. It aint the big deal but it is not something you just learn, you feel it after listening to the right artists. Lani is doing a so called black R&B style but that genre is subjective now and she is a filipina singer period. Christina Ag did a lot of melismas and her songs were considered pop...so doesn't always mean just cuz you do it you sound black and you dont' have to. You can sound like you end of story.
