Cydiquil is ok but Totodile is better.

@Roboglenn387 Only in Gen. 4. This being Gen. 2, there isn't the physical/special/status split of individual moves. So while Totodile has a great physical attack stat (in the form of Feraligatr), it doesn't get STAB on anything. Plus, a good portion of the Pokedex is already Water type, and there are better water types in the game. Cyndaquil, on the other hand, has the stats of the Charmander family without the Flying type in it's final form, which is more of a hindrance than anything.

It's all in good fun.
