Yeah I let "Across the Universe" influence me too much here. But it's a pretty song anyway. And I felt better when Lennon said he lifted the riff to "I Feel Fine" from Bobby Parker's "Watch Your Step" (check it out!). Thanks for the kind remarks everyone.
The Aerovons were a St. Louis,Missouri band whom I saw perform many times as a teenager in St. Louis in the late 60's. I still see the original bass player on The Aerovons - Bob Frank - in St. Louis - and he performs now in an old-timey bluegrass
band playing a unique array of percussion instruments. You can email him about any Aerovons questions at: ferdworks@charter.net
Believe me (and I wouldn't have believed it myself 'til I bought the album) the rest of their album is every bit as good as the hype suggests. I think "Resurrection" is actually one of the lesser songs!
You can listen to the album and imagine what the Beatles would have sounded like in '68-'69 IF they still liked one another! Leaner & meaner than both the White Album & Abbey Road.
There is also a strong early Bee Gees influence to their stuff, excellent!
im the daughter of the middle guy, tom. and i dont care if you dont believe me but he said they were young and didnt even realize that they were copying the beatles until after across the universe came out. they had access to new records of the beatles that were in abbey road studios. so they wanted to have a song that was new, like the beatles. but they had no idea it would be strangely exactly like across the universe.
@cedarpointluv777 As a teenager I saw your Aerovons play many times in St. Louis in the mid-to late 60's, in teen clubs and once at a drive-in movie! I'm also very good friends with The Aerovons bass player - Bob Frank -whom I see perform in band today.
Sounds a bit like The Rutles. When i bought the CD some years ago, I thought it was along lost Beatles LP. It is a really good album. I still think it's strange how their 2 singles didn't appear price guides until after the CD was issued.
Why does this song sound so much like Across The Universe, especially when it was recorded 1968? I've read that they shared studios with The Beatles, so I'm wondering who copied who.
Is there a 12-string guitar on this song?

Amazing! It's almost Across the Universe note for note! How post-modern.

This sounds like a cross between Julian Lennon and "Nails" Gammone.
